Late comment but I'd like to ask new viewers if they've learned anything from this video, and to let me know of any new specific topics in this video or about the game in general they'd like to know about in new videos :p
A lot of pregame lore was included in trailers that I missed until a bit into my play through so I definitely learned a ton from this. Having it all laid out neatly helps a ton too, this was very well done! My brain is bad at piecing things together and remembering names/entries so seeing the characters pictures alongside what they’ve done like Garrick and stuff about the dark lens/perforations didn’t really click until this video!
@@jellynjams Thank you for both of your comments on here!! I'm really happy people like the formatting of the video. Till recently, I was worried I had maybe messed the pacing up or neglected to include enough context to sections because of my personal knowledge about the games story. If you want, you mind telling me any topics in specific you'd like to see more of in future vids?
Something to note is that the Sister of the Unlost we meet throughout the game is a Gatekeeper, and part of Shadowgate, as shown by the symbol and book on her side. Its pretty interesting how she seems to always know where we're headed and waits to give vague warnings of what is in store (in the next update). In game I mean, OOC its just to give hype for the next update, but yeah
Got the game a few weeks ago and im now 50 hours in the game (mostly because solo) I usually don't have time to be reading the journal entries, so i appreciate the lore video hopefully my friends can pick this game up next sale, as it's deffo worth all the hype I hear about it
This video is awesome! My best friend and I have loved playing Abiotic together, but the lore is extensive and, as someone with a visual processing disorder, difficult to follow through all the emails and Compendium entries. This video is exactly what I wanted, so thank you!
Im pretty sure dr derek manse is just research director of cascade and not gate as a whole, his email adress domain says gate cascade and not gate keystone or something else and also he says he has issues acessing research information from the secretive intrados facility too which doesnt seem like he is the director of all research at gate. I love the video im glad the lore of this game is getting the deserved attention ❤
@@batydoo591 I explained the intrados bit more in my Keystone video, but as It is now we have no mention of other directors for the other facilities we have visited as of now. Ex; rise and voussoir. And theres an email in voussoir that has manse requesting a data report from staff there. Cascade could be Manse's 'hq' per se. And yea the lore is awesome, and I hope vids like mine spark a discussion on here. The lore is pretty intriguing and theorizing on it has been fun.
This video is such a banger. Thanks for making this, the story of this game is so intriguing but I'm too busy shooting dudes and farming supplies to listen to the logs or read emails lol. Looking forward to watching more from you!
Couple hundred hours in the game, it's absolutely fantastic. With how much quality content there already is this early on, it's gonna be shocking to see the full scope of the game at final release
I honestly think that the reaper's dark realm is some form of alternate reality of the security sector itself. As you go through the security sector there are multiple instances of the dark realm and the security sector having the same general layout. This along with early on in going through the security sector you can interact with a shade that is in the exact same position as one of the scientists that is in security sector as well as disappearing along with the scientist as you unlock the hydroplant.
A treat of a video to watch, honestly (yay, protogeeeens!), I'm glad you made this one, I know quite a few people who will want to know more about it without having to read it up. I like what you're trying to do with the video editing, and while there's a few quirks (namely the audio fade out between chapters also fading out your voice, which IMO is a bit of a nitpicked oddity), I think you really got something going on there X3 Keep it up, subb'd!
Since the Devs clearly love Half-Life and AF is highly inspired by it. I doubt that everything will be answered at the end. We probably and hopefully will see Abiotic Factor 2.
this video is amazing, abiotic factor is one of my favorite games so far and i recently started going through the lore like a mad man, and this video taught me so much shit i didnt even know you are a life saver dude keep up the good work (also this video deserves way more views)
Interesting video, but I think that your A23 (Furniture Store) section is wrong; IIRC one of the logs (I think it's in Rise but I'm not really sure) say that A23 was actually contaminated with IS-0102 when the Dark Lens sent them from A16 to A23 (presumably with the IS-0102 infection still on their suits). Further supported by a Manse log in Security saying that their "contamination of A23 is worse than [they] ever feared." Also I'm pretty sure that the water in the Reservoir is normal (or as normal as it can be with the cube growths). The Darkwater name just comes from Gatekeepers.
Yeah, the A23 section is incorrect with the detail about the Dark Lens malfunction and I'm actually in the process of writing a new anteverse video right now. The part about the cube growth and infestation of darkwater fish probably makes the water anomalous imo
Just came across your video. I really love ABF lore (i have 200 hours in the game) so Im looking forward to more videos. Thanks for putting in the hard work.
24:08 the word youre thinking of is non-Euclidean, non non-Newtonian. Non-Newtonian is in reference to liquids that dont follow Newton's law of viscosity. Non-Euclidean refers to the Euclid's principles of geometry
That world map on GATE's presence around the world reminded me of that meme about Americans visiting Europe and it being literally three countries in Western Europe. Speaking of the security bots, I once saw a patrolling security bot destroy a water cooler for no reason. I'm guessing it didn't like the cooler bubbling at him? Or maybe it's programmed to destroy competition to the vending machines? 🤔 But is GATE an American company? Because, if not, it doesn't _have_ to follow OSHA regulations (unless its facilities are located in the US, of course). I still don't get why GATE won't just send IS107 the "Time Bomb" back to its makers. GATE has perforation technology, so just send it away. By the time the guys from Anteverse 07 realize that the Bomb is back, it'll be too late for them to resend it to us, because time works differently there. Sending it away into space is a really stupid decision, given how it will eventually become big enough to consume everything anyhow.
The bots have some funky ai going on with them (i guess its accurate to the lore lol), about the Time Bomb its actually something I never considered. Maybe its too risky? Like the bomb detonates en route to A7 and messes with space time? Or maybe its not even a bomb at all and something completely unexpected happens. I guess its more of a risk to gamble on the unknown for GATE instead of relying on the fact its growing really realllyyy slowly and by 50,000 years humans definitely could have gotten rid of it by then.
@@proto.myriad which is stranger from the decision of just sending it out into space. Cosmically speaking, 50,000 years is a laughably short time. They really should have sent it to a different verse to be someone elses problem.
Good lore video, however, I think this could’ve been improved by showing what you are talking about rather than your avatar over blurred random gameplay.
While this is a cool video all in all. It unfortunately has a few mistakes. Some of which like accidentally saying "Surface Tunnel in Security Sector" instead of "Surface Tunnel in Manufacturing Sector" when talking about the security weakspot (and it cant* be the Elevator since The Order never managed to breach into the Security Sector), are benign. To more serious stuff like "The Order Destroyed The Dark Lens" when they didnt destroy it. They TOOK the Lens out of the device. The lady that Invented the Lens tells you this, in the Labs Sector. "You know what this is, don't you? The Dark Lens ... the core of our perforation research ... Or it was. I'd heard rumors of a threat, there are always rumors ... but this is insane. They killed everyone, then removed the Lens ... Without it, how are we supposed to control the portals? ... they could appear anywhere ... connect to anything ... Do they realize what they've done?"
I believe there are emails strewn about in the "Control Room" portion of the Labs Sector (I can remember where and which ones exactly). That seemingly hint at The Order believing The Lens to be part of some sort of Religious Artifact they are after. Or something like that..
I personally don't think theres a connection.. The leyak is alluded to be from Anteverse 33 (see my anteverse video). Kylie is stuck inside a machine, or a neurochip if you decide to transfer her conscious.
@@proto.myriad Did you interact with the terminal after extracting her as a trinket? What is left of her body was a floaty brain that could only say "uh" and "eeh" which seems designed to remind us of the Leyak. The Leyak was revealed long before Kylie was added to the game. They could have given Kylie any name. They picked a name that has 4/5 of the same letters as the word Leyak. The item needed to extract Kylie's consciousness from the machine is a Hyper-Dense Neural Chip. This item is now used as a component of 91's containment unit. These correlations are weak, but the fact that there are now 3 seems like more than a coincidence to me.
