Did you have the exact issue as in the video?
Kw would spike up and down then stay down at 0.5kw?
And did your heat usually work?
      How was it fixed?
      Thanks...

I had the same issue with the heater. It turned out to be a software issue. I took it into the dealer and they installed the software upgrade. It was done in half an hour and I have not had any issues since. I've had the car now for a bit over 3 years and have not had any issues and I am still super happy with the EV experience.

I just was told my 2014 has a circulation pump problem and I'd not part of electrical warranty. They are replacing high voltage heater as well, just in case. The tech thinks it's a pump issue though. Will run me $400 to fix. Heater works OK with ICE engine.

I got my heater problem fixed: After replacing a bunch of "stuff", it ended up being a Heater-core filter clog. There's a filter in a hose that's a part of the heater core system. It was all 'swamped up", technical terms by the dealer. Once they cleaned it and put it back in, heat all day long. Try that! Its not a warranty coverage item, it might run you about 200-300 dollars. Mine was no cost because they felt they didn't fix the problem good the first time...or they just like me...doubt it...ha

I have a 2012 Chev Volt 87k miles. I have cabin heat issues and it all stems back to low coolant. Where is the coolant going? (Rhetorical), turns out the coolant was leaking into the cylinder head and mixing with the oil. I was also getting air bubbles in the line so when we topped off the coolant (Dex-cool 50/50 antifreeze) we would get gurgling in the dash. The heat was HOT, but then intermittent. We got the car back after a week at the dealer (POWER TRAIN WARRANTY BTW), new cylinder head and appropriate gaskets, the issue persists...so its back at the dealer....frustrated? yes. Regretting trading in my Mercedes (maintenace free btw)?..yes but we persevere.

That sounds like the gas engine hearer. Which works fine on mine. But the Electric heater does not. The part to fix it is hard to get at. So I just put up with it..

Did OP ever resolve this? What was the solution? A possible workaround is to press the LEAF button repeatedly until car goes into HOLD mode. This will force the gas engine on which should then provide heat.

I have the same issue. The problem is that the car is used in another country where there is no dealer and on service guys told it's 'additional coolant heater'. Have no idea what to do...

2012 Chevy volt heat would blow hot when gas generator was on but in electric mode would blow cold. $1100.00 to fix. Dealership replaced heater controller module ( GM part # 13586345) and aux heat pump (GM part# 13597899). Heat pump binding and heater control module internally open. Check GM parts.com for location of these components.

On start up in very cold weather, the car heats around the battery, hence the delay in heat reaching the inside of car. Best to put the car in hold mode, as the ICE engine will heat the engine very quickly, return to EV mode after 10 minutes, and all will be fine.

95% chance a few air bubbles have accumulated in the electric water pump making it cavitate without fluid moving electric heater gets turned off so top off the engine reservoir with the correct fluid from dealer only, 13,14,15 years run in Hold mode once in a while to get the bubbles out. 11,12 mountain mode. these cars have electric heat and heat from gas engine in the same system. and try restarting

Mine is on warranty too, but I did not fix it yet - I'm waiting for next service to adress this issue. Could you let me know what part are they gioing to replace on your volt?

    • @Str0ngjuan
      @Str0ngjuan 9 ปีที่แล้ว

Kamil Wojtowicz Well it took 3 days (one for the dealer to take a look and order the part, one to get the part and on the third day everything was put in place).
They told me it was a pump that broke down. Apparently it isn't a GM manufactured part, so they had to call it in from the manufacturer. Part: 13579710 it's basicaly a coolant pump (some internet discussions refer to it as a module). everything is fine now, but I ask what would the part cost me if not under warranty and without labor it's 269$ in canadian currency.

@@pierdziochulowhat did the dealership do to fix it?
Mine did exactly the same thing 3 times each winter. Turning it off then on did not solve it.
Turning it off then going into a store or walking 200ft away fixed it every time.

@@golfish8589 I never got my issue resolved. I don't have that car anymore. I think the electric heating element failed so I would only have heat if I was able to force the engine on by deliberately not charging it :/. Only main issue I ever had with that car
