    when your stuck out somewhere ,something is better than nothing.
    Being prepared for anything you may encounter is always intelligent.
    Good job bro!
    Dont listen to the negative.
    When they are stuck without a winch im sure they will be more than happy too have you come along with your winch and help.
    Good on you and again if your ever in nor cal hit me up!
    Alot of wannabe engineers out their who have no practicle knowledge or common sense.
    Gotta shine them on and keep moving ahead.
    Looks great and im sure it will come in handy throughout your adventures.
    Gob bless!

    New subscriber and new Subaru owner (custom ordered a Forester Wilderness). Loving your content. I especially appreciate that you both thoroughly review your items but also look for affordable options. We often only get one or the other - not both.

    I hate to point this out mr OCD but your homemade light bar while good is not level compared to your new bumper you just put on. It higher on the left side. Put the floods on the new winch mount bar you just installed. It will look much better, you can always aim them a little off to the sides if you goal is wide coverage. I would get some stock aluminum plate similar to the new skid plate that came wit the kit and extend that coverage from where the plate came up short in the width dept. Your car is looking really good

    • @ChasingAdventuresCO
      @ChasingAdventuresCO  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      it sure wasn't and it was driving me crazy but now that the lights are on the bumper guard, I could go to sleep in peace. LOL and they are working on bigger skid plates to cover! so as soon as I get that, I will make a video of it. thank you for tuning in.

    You'll want a Warn Axon 55-S winch - fifty feet of synthetic rope, 5,500-lb. capacity. That's the most powerful winch you can put on that bar. If you need more winch than that, you're doing something wrong... Really, the 4,500-lb. Axon would probably do you right but if the extra purchase price is no problem, go for the 55-S; it's better to have a bigger winch and not need it than to need it and not have it. Also, get a snatch block or two for your recovery gear tool kit so you can rig the winch up like a block-&-fall and double your effective pulling power as needed.
    Frankly, I'm more impressed by the LP Aventure large bumper guard & front skid plate that I put on my Outback, even though it's not winch-capable. Looks like this aFe guard needs a bit more development in the Fit-&-Finish department, and the skid plate is woefully undersized & looks like an afterthought.

    • @ChasingAdventuresCO
      @ChasingAdventuresCO  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for your recommendation, and tips about snatch block!! I will most likely go with 45-s and get a snatch block.
      Bumper guard is preproduction and since then, they made improvements on the fitment and they are working on larger skid plate so once I get my hands on it, I will make an update video.

    It's honestly and shocking (in a good way) to see a company like aFe manufacture items like these. While I've owned Subaru vehicles since the late 80s, I've also owned Audi vehicles since around the same time. What I'm saying is, I've used aFe intakes for my Audi vehicles in the past, but this is "Next Level," as the kids say.

    Maybe you could mount your aluminum bar to the bumper guard allowing you to keep the wider placement of the front LED’s …you could even paint it with that same textured black protective paint!

    Good video, but looks like junk to me which is odd from AFe as their intakes (like the one I use on my Veloster N) are top notch. I'd be returning that right away. It not fitting, and the skid plate looks like aftermarket junk to be honest. I personally wouldn't trust it with a winch on it, let along relying on those mounting points to pull you out, looks like it would snap or bend pretty badly. The skid plate seems like an afterthought. Why isn't it black to match? Why doesn't it cover under the car more? Almost sounds like they had sheets of this stuff and found the best way to cut it to get rid of it with the least cost to them.
    I dunno, I'd like to see better options before going this route but thanks for posting this video. I've been looking at Outbacks recently to replace the VN.

      Thank you for your feedback and this was a preproduction and since then, they made improvements on the fitment and are making new skid plates to cover more of the underbody. so as soon as I get receive the updated parts, I will make an updated video.

  • @headofahessian
    @headofahessian 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    I wouldn’t trust that with a winch at all. That’s also killing the approach angle. Seems like it’s for aesthetic and that’s it.

    • @ChasingAdventuresCO
      @ChasingAdventuresCO  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your feedback and can you explain why you wouldn't trust it with the winch?

    • @headofahessian
      @headofahessian 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The overall design of it is just not well thought out for the stresses that winching causes, there’s a reason all the current winch bumpers in the Subaru market connect by replacing the crashbar. The welds look cold as well. I’m also skeptical of how it would hold up if it’s anything other than a straight pull. Their “rock sliders” don’t look great either strictly because of how they mount. They will ad some protection but I wouldn’t trust them like I would full force metal works ones which I have beat the crap out of and they have protected my crosstrek from a lot of damage lol. This seems to be a parts company that makes go fast parts trying to break into the off-road Subaru market but doesn’t really have any experience in off road Crawford is another company who’s tried doing this.

    I just bought the AFE rock sliders. Looking forward to getting them. Would like to get a winch as well, but can't decide on a hidden winch vs a bumper guard with winch mount. I also want to do full skid plates and it seems as if some of the skid plates are only compatible with certain bumper guards. Is it the same with AFE? Anyone know how their skid plates are compared to like Rallitek?

    • @ChasingAdventuresCO
      @ChasingAdventuresCO  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yes AFE is the same. they make their own skid plates.
