Nano Recon Robot

Nano (hand-sized) reconnaissance robot for law enforcement use. In 2023 I built this robot for a client as a demonstration unit. It can be flipped, dropped, thrown, etc and continue operation.
Specifications:
- 4 cell battery with active balancing (up to 6 cells)
- 6 brushless motors with encoders.
- 4 MCUs (3 for motor control, 1 master control)
- Day & Night cameras.
- Silent below 3 MPH.
- Metal body frame.

Why did you choose 5 µCUs? I get why you would choose 2 for example but 5? Just curious.

Good question! 5 was a typo it should be 4 - sorry.
The main reason for 4 MCUs was the two body design and timeline. The two body’s meant we would have 4 motors in one section and 2 in the other - so I figured that it was cheaper, less risky, and more redundant to use one MCU per two brushless motors. If given more time I’m not sure I would change it.
