I’m picking mine up today! Thank you so much for making this video. Felt like I was having my grandfather show me how to use my new gun. Really appreciate it
Im serbian and your second prounanciation was right, anyway great review and i wish theres more americans like yourself out there cos you remind us of ww2 America when you were the greatest country and period when Serbia and America were allies, now America is not run by true americans and thats why we are sadly on opposite sides....regards to you and all true americans from serbia
There’s more of us than you might think. Proud ZPAP and M57A owner here; don’t intend sell either, ever. Fine weapons and great company. No problems with my ZPAP but did have a couple of issues with my M57A, and Zastava USA took very good care of me. Customer service is second to none. Anyway wishing you well over there in Serbia. I hear it’s a beautiful country. Hope I can visit someday.
I am picking mine up in the next few hours and thought, since it is my first rifle, I should probably learn how to maintain it. Your instructions were clear, and easy to follow and understanding. That and quick too! Thanks!
Hope you don't regret getting rid of this one! I would have at least waited until the sunset of the Serbian export ban to see what happens with these. They are such nice AK's and their uniqueness means there will always be a place for one in my collection even when I have other AK rifles
Have one and love it. Mine is fully modernized with a yugo magpul folder and midwest industries forend for force multipliers. Am a lanky guy and love adjustable length of pull. Have well over a thousand rounds through it without any failures with steel ammo. Above average accuracy as well.
Have been waiting for this one. Your methods have made my life a lot easier in the maintinence department. Thank you, as always, for sharing your knowledge!
I have one of these with the side-folding stock. It is indeed a fantastic AK in every way 👍Thank you, sir, for another excellent and informative video. Best of luck to you and the family.
I’m glad you were able to sell that, you are a wonderful person and remind me of my dad who loved guns and had a great appreciation of all guns.he had his favorites too
I'm thankful God blessed us with a wonderful person like you to share the knowledge you share with us and hello to Mr Benny he looks happy and healthy great to see you both doing well god bless looking forward to seeing you guys again soon love the videos
I bought this beautiful rifle because of your video. I honestly wish I had waited a bit, as I paid nearly $1100 after tax and transfer, but they can be found for $899 now. Regardless, BEAUTIFUL rifle and a joy to shoot
Looks like a great AK rifle that is well built. I have the Molot Vepr FM-AK47-11 rifle that is built on the same standard as the military RPK rifle. The Vepr AK47 rifle is more reinforced than the standard stamped AKM rifle. I would recommend the Vepr AK47 as one the best AK rifles, but the only issue is that the Molot plant burned down and they are selling them at ridiculous prices. Looks like the Zastava ZPAP M70 AK 47 made improvements to the design as well. From what I can see the sample that you have is in excellent condition and would make an excellent addition to anyone's collection.
Owen Zastava Pitt, Combat-Accountant. This fictional character was named after his father's weapon (Zastava) that he used in Vietnam that saved his life on a few occasions. The book being "Monster Hunter International." Beautifully written, great story, great character development, factual weapons depictions and oh so humorous!
Really appreciate your videos and knowledge! I am not a Russian rifle fan but thank you for the video, I do know how the collecting gets and I understand why you must have wanted it!
Nice AK sir! I’ve got a SLR95 bought several years ago it’s more of a safe queen lol maybe had 15 rounds through it. I bought from a friend NIB and low low SN. Always enjoy your videos keep up the great content thanks!

I am out of the running here seeing as I already own a Zpap m70. Great Gun very nice and sturdy. It's a bit heavy but that is to be expected with that variant considering how beefed up it is, It's almost an RPK when you look at its specs. The only other issue is that I've found I like shooting my SKS much more so I never want to waste my 7.62x39 on it.
Same for me: SKS > AK semi auto. Last round hold open (though the ZPAP M70 does too with the right mag, but most all AK47s don't), better safety and I actually prefer top loading, esp. loading single rounds. I have an early '50s Tula armory, all numbers matching. However I agree with the sentiment in the video: ZPAP M70 is probably the highest quality civilian (semi auto) production AK47 available.
@@salninethousand2496 I am jealous of your Russian SKS, mine is a chinese one that looks like someone fought multiple wars with it. I love the gun to death and it is completely functional but whenever I see a really nice SKS i can't help but be envious.
Does it have a shepards hook (paper clip wire) inside the receiver or something more stout (Krebs retaining clip perhaps)? Nice gun. You didn't mention that the optics mount on the left side is proprietary to Yugo AKM's. The earlier version of this gun did not have bulged trunnion nor the chrome lined barrel. You got the better one. Someone is going to enjoy a nice gun. 🙂
i have this gun and i couldnt remove the top handguard. i tried everything. i even let my friend look at it that has AK platform as well, and he was confused why it didnt come off.
Is the muzzle supposed too be wobbly on this aka? I purchased this model but it got some what damaged when it shipped the barrel/muzzle poked out the box im not sure if they all come wobbly or it’s because it popped out the box. If anyone who owns this model could you let me know would be much appreciated.
Yes most timed AK muzzle devices index off of the spring loaded pin at the front of the front sight base and are not torqued down on the threads. Some wobble is normal
Excellent rifle. Got one myself with polymer furniture. Would never sell it. My weapon of choice in the event of the doo-doo impacting the air conditioning apparatus. I’ve read that in Serbia, the M70 AK was nicknamed the “Housekeeper”…because if you had one, you could keep your house!
It's pronounced ZA-sta-va in Serbian. (Stress on the first syllable.) It means "flag" or "banner" in Serbian. In Russian it's pronounced za-STA-va. (Stress on the second syllable.) In Russian it means a "small fortificaiton." How's Bennie doing? He's a cute little fella!
I view guns by only two parameters. I must like their appearance, and they must work reliably and accurately. In recent years, folks have been taught to believe that forgings reign superior. If a stamped or investment cast manufacturing technique has been proven to be rugged and reliable with no weakness over years of continuous use, I see no reason to look to a forged version. I've shot those Poly Tech guns, which are very nice (see that video) but the Zastava is distinctly superior in heft and ruggedness. Stamped steel is not weak. In fact, it has resiliency that takes serious abuse. They can flex and spring back under repeated stress, while forgings simply break. Stampings are used in submarine hulls, excavator buckets, truck frames, and snow plows. The Zastava has many forged parts where such toughness is required, but the receiver is stamped steel, where that's the superior metal for the job.
@@GunBlue490 Thanks for the reply and information, I agree completely. Thee wood furniture on your AK is definitely far superior to the wood on the PolyTech. When I purchased the rifle in the late 1980s I felt it was the best available at that time.
Just recently bought a Zastava ZPAP M70 Walnut Furniture. Need to find a sling. One like yours would be perfect. Please share your vendor (if TH-cam allows) 😊
Hey Larry, I purchased my Zastava M70 with the used / battle field pick up furniture, however it didn't have the sling mount on butt stock. A machine shop is charging $60, to mill the stock, to mount sling swivel. Anyway slings can be found at most gun shows. I paid $10 for the correct Yugo sling. Good Luck.

I ordered a Siberian Redwood one just exactly like this rifle. Can't Wait to get it home !! Thanks for the valuable information !!
Great video and content.
I have one but haven't fired it yet because of acquiring enough ammo for a range day has been hit or miss where I'm at.
When flipping up the gas tube lever, be careful of the upper wood hand guard. Very easy to scratch/dent it.
I wish I could like this video 1,000 times. I keep watching it all the time.

Thanks for the video! I didn't know how to get the dust cover back on my zpap m70
Haha I had the same problem at the gun shop today looking at my new m70. The gun shop guys were stumped too 😂 gunblue to the rescue lol
Wish I saw this before I broke it down the first time, especially using the bolt carrier to flip the gas tube release. Did see that in the manual.
400 yards is generally considered to be effective range. Typical 7.62x39 mm bullet fired from it is supersonic up to about 500 yards

There's a button on the rear left side that you press that makes the spring fully seat in.
