- This is my super simple "tutorial" on how to create a recipe binder really quickly and inexpensively. I hope this helps you organize your recipes if you are struggling with that!

Love this idea. Have been working on one for my daughter, but I really like how simple this is. One thought for you about the label on the binder spine ... have done a lot of admin work and found if you open the notebook with the rings underneath, you can usually slip the label in ,u h easier. Have found that card stock works much better and trim it down so it is jus a tad narrower than the opening.

I do mine the same way..... I actually bought mine off of QVC, I think, a long time ago. So the same concept except mine folds in the middle so you can stand it up when using one of the recipes. I love it!

Love the idea of having conversions and substitutes in the recipe binder. I am forever googling substitutes, never thought to put them into a binder.

Yes it does!!!
If you open the binder and lay it flat with the inside down, it makes it easier to slide the label into the spine of the binder.

I have 2 Recipe binders. 1 is for regular every day meals an 2 is just for holiday stuff. I never thought of using the page protectors I'm gonna have 2 get some . I had wanted 2 print them all out but, they will take me 4 ever lol I have over 400 recipes. TFS!!

I feel so much better about myself because now I know I'm not all alone in a) a binder for recipes and b) chaos in the binder. Seriously mine does not have enough room, with the 1" ring and it's fallen and EVERYTHING popped out. It's been through 2 moves and the poor binder cover is bending and so so sad.😭 I kept thinking "One day i will fix this." I've been relying on Pinterest - a great tool except super annoying when you want to watch TH-cam videos in full view and cook at the same time.🤣 You have inspired me to do it sooner rather than later. I think it will help with the headache of meal planning😉 (btw I found you via Carla Mckensie, probably messing up that spelling but ya know what I mean😁)

Your binder looks great! I have one with a similar system, and for some reason, the section with the most recipes is desserts! :)
Bwahahaha, Girl - mine totally has a lot of desserts too. LOL
You did good. I have some recipes my momma wrote out. I want to frame them and hang them in my kitchen. She is such a good cook . I got her banana pudding recipe. She didn’t measure, she was a dab of this some of that. I said mom , I need numbers. So I sat and wrote down when she was saying maybe this much sugar, this much milk, etc. it turns out amazing every time I make it. I love recipe books.
My grandmother was that way! I sat down and measured out how much of stuff she was putting in her biscuit recipe one time and I've been able to makeke them just like she did! I also have some handwritten recipes my mom gave me as part of my wedding gift and they are in there and I will always treasure them in her handwriting ❤️❤️❤️

If you open the binder and lay it face down, it is much easier to insert paper in the spine. With the binder open you get a little slack which makes it easier to work with.

I have my recipes in a binder also. Actually a couple, one with family recipes tried & true. Another with recipes that I use for food preservation such canning, dehydrating, etc.

I know this video is years old and you don’t need the info anymore, but the best way to get paper down the spine of binders is to print out the design you want in the center and fold the blank parts under several times. Then you’ll have a nice thick bookmark style piece of paper you can get down the spine.
You have just reminded me I need to try and tackle that project. Maybe a “future Kelly” problem 😂

I know it’s a little late, but the trick to putting in the binder section is to open the binder and then slide it in. As a teacher it took me years to figure this out🤓

I have the old school recipe box... so many cards of some things we still love but a lot we don't.. some are cards with my mom or grandmas writing..a binder would be easier but I'm not sure how to incorporate the handwritten much loved cards into .. any ideas would be greatly appreciated

I really like your whole system! Right now I just use my Pinterest boards as my organizer...lol!
I used my Pinterest boards for a long time, too! LOL I've gotten better about actually printing them off now, which is helpful because I see them in person and they aren't hiding out of sight in technology. LOL Thanks for watching, girl!
