I was afraid to spend the money!!! - EXT Storia Lok V3 Coil Shock

  • For years people told me that I would love a coil. I was always afraid to spend that much money on something that I didn't really know if I'd like. The funny thing is, as I sit here and type that I think about the first time I built a set of custom wheels and I realize that was the same circumstance. I was just going off of what other people said. When the opportunity came to try a coil for free I jumped at it. Now that I've tried it, everything has changed.

    Already a sub and I always bang the 👍 button. I only have hardtail’s and SS Mtn bikes but when I had a full squishy I had both air and coil shocks. Coil is definitely a more refined ride that feels more confident throughout the travel.

      It’s crazy how much of a difference it makes on the chatter.

    I agree with everything said here. I am definitely not let down.
    Great product.
    My only complains are the compression requiring a socket, But not a big deal, as I set it once let it be, and the clack clack sound from the plastic prat when blasting trough chunk, otherwise very quiet shock, but coils can get creaky sometimes, but small price to pay for such performance.
    But a common thing with coils is fatigue, so you need to preload it more once you notice play, not a big deal.

    Love coil! I’m cheap and went for a Marzocchi Bomber CR and a custom tune from Craig over at Avalanche (he’s local to me), the EXT sounds great too.

    Robert, did you run this coil shock on both your bikes - Bronson& Tall Boy? I thought I read somewhere that coil shocks will not fit the Tall Boy.

    • @B1KER
      @B1KER  ปีที่แล้ว

      I had it on my Bronson. I know some coils will fit a Tallboy v4. I heard the new one is supposedly going to fit more coils. But the new Hightower didn’t change so 🤷‍♂️

    How would you compare it to the Push 11.6? Similar better, different? Much appreciate the feedback I’m also a bigger dude 6’2 240

    • @B1KER
      @B1KER  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve never ridden the Push, but I will say this EXT was probably the most dramatic upgrade I’ve ever made to my bikes over the years.

  • @quicksilverz6642
    @quicksilverz6642 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you find the shock noisy when climbing? I had one on my Ripmo and it would make a constant clicking sound while climbing. Contacted EXT and was told it was normal and was just a check ball inside the shock but I could not get it out of my head and had to sell it.

    • @B1KER
      @B1KER  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I may have heard that. But to be honest I listen to music when riding so I miss things.

    • @christiandruan
      @christiandruan ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the same issue on my ripmo with the EXT Storia and after sending EXT a video of the sound they said that they will warranty it. Hopefully it gets fixed.

      Mine Storia Lok V3 was noisy as fuck, i send it when it was time for service but after didn't change nothing.Compare to Fox or Rockshox it's a verry noisy shock but on the trails you don't hear it.And any ways i have my earduds when im riding.

    Been riding the Storia V3 on a Dreadnought for about a year. It is SO good. IMO, well worth it. Better than a Float X2, and the lock switch, better than Cane creek katsuma.

    • @B1KER

      That lock out really blew me away.

  • @trailpimp6369
    @trailpimp6369 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is a nice shock brother. You think this would help me at the bike park. I am currently on a X2 Kashima 163 on my enduro bike. Is this like a push shock?

    • @B1KER
      @B1KER  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it’s similar to Push. I’ve never ridden a pan so I can’t compare them, but I can assure you this thing is In the same category. As far as a compared to your air shock…it will blow it away.

    750lbs spring? I'm a heavier guy and wondering how you find that spring rating?

      EXT has spring rates up to 800lbs. Contact them and they can get you sorted.

      @@2coolforyourdog I had it on the Tallboy. It was really good, but not as good as a coil. I’d say if you don’t have the budget for the coil, definitely try the link.
