I was living in Austin in 1985 and attended a concert by Kate. During the intermission I asked her to sign a record for me. I remember asking if she meditated, because her voice was so soothing. She said she ought to do so. I don't know if that was this concert. In any case -- so sad that she died soon after, and died so young. I have loved her music ever since.
First saw Kate Wolf in'77 or '78, on the advice of a young lady friend. I was floored, wowed beyond description. Bought the two albums they had for sale on my way out and waited anxiously for the next opportunity to see her perform. For the last forty plus years I have always said that getting stoned and listening to Kate Wolf is as close to a religious experience as I will ever know.
Kate---she was such a treasure. I was fortunate enough to hear the Live in Austin/Austin City Limits performance in Studio 1A. Her first comment when she came on stage was "Wow. So this is what Austin looks like." Then she and her band proceeded to blow us away. That was 34 years ago and I'll never forget it.
@@curlierthanthou I know that ACL was recorded in studio 6A, so maybe that’s different from Live in Austin, since she referred to studio 1A. Now sure but maybe that’s a possibility
Far away...think of a little town in Germany, Europe I hear this tune and can´t hold out to think about how great America is. It´s unbelievable which strength and power this little tune have. I´m thrilled. Kate Wolf and her band is pure magic!
What a treat this is to see and hear this song live. Few artists have made me happier upon hearing them for the first time than Kate Wolf. 35 years now.
She died in 1986 that was 33 yrs ago in 2019 but it’s like she never left us ,However I have to be careful when I listen to her because I get myself all worked up and upset tears start to flow I’m 74 now her. Lice still gets to me there was something special about this women and I’m so glad God shared her with us death is our last enemy
This just gives me musical goose bumps all over. All of them did an excellent performance and on top of this Kate with her sweet charisma and impressive songwriting. Just magical.

This one always makes me feel, well .. happy! The version I have is a bit slower, and I play that tempo. Some friends I play with have grabbed her stuff, too. Kate, and Nina and Terry, still inspiring me with it all.
Just Amazingly Beautiful ! Just Sweet ! Goodness Gracious ! Thank you for sharing your Post...Very Special Angel ! Angels are Singing ! ol couple way down in TX 51yrs....❤
Yes. Perfect comment...love this song like the pines and western cedar... Gods love to that dear gentle soul...thanks for jeeping this song posted for so many yet to experience Kates heartfelt music. Thankyou sincerely.🐎🌻🐦
Her songs are beyond wonderful. But here she has a look of pain. It might be actual pain, or just her performing because she has to, songs that can be played at any level of personal involvement. Something was wrong somewhere; she just looks so far away...
Thank you, Robert. I don't mean to lighten your insight into her pain. However (not having seen many videos of Kate from this era), i think she's got something in her eyes. She doesn't seem like a habitual makeup-wearer; maybe her eyes were sensitive to that stuff and it was making her blink and tear up!
Baby Nina Gerber tearing it up on the mandolin! And singing too!!
She was absolutely incredible in many ways. Brave, talented, generous, thoughtful, and remarkably inspirational.
I've never heard it said better than you Sarah, and we certainly thank you !!!

That she is surrounded by such talent is a testament to her genius.
What a delightful woman ! { So sad the world , including her children , lost her way too young .}. George Lewis, Sr.

Russell Ashworth Russell cannot imagine how incredible that must have been; are Live in Austin and ACL synonymous? Thank you!

Such a wonderful voice, wonderful talent, and wonderful person. 'Tis a shame this planet lost such a giant.
I am so sorry I missed her in this lifetime, darn. I really love her special music magic.
I used to go see her whenever she played in Sonoma County back in the late 70's. What a great talent. So sad to lose her.
Such beauty
God the speed on that mandolin solo and without dropping a note to boot.... Wow.
I still get chills, hearing the superb man’s solos. This is real music.
