    The one thing I would add, is you made an excellent point, when you mentioned footwork, I think that because of footwork, most players at every level miss shots, because they didn’t move. Excellent point you made Coach.

      @@IntuitiveTennis Nick this the biggest problem I am having, because of the two hip replacements. So I try and keep my feet moving during rallies. If I can get my footwork back, I would be a 4.5 or maybe even a 5.0 player. I was so fast when I played in the 90s, I used to be able to run an 4.9 to 5.1 in the 40 yard dash. My best friend Alfonzo Harris could run 4.4 and 4.5 in the 40 and he was a tough fella to tackle, so I learnt footwork by playing football, so I trained that way in tennis. I used to run the tennis lines, and that helped me with every shot, but most importantly I taught me to never quit on points. Maybe you can train the fellas to run the lines, and you and I can watch them run while we eat some Doritos. Hahe all jokes aside, I started running 40 yard dashes at 5.4 to 5.5, but by practicing against Alfonzo I got much faster my friend. The only difference is that we were track shoes which can give a few extra seconds, so if time them on a football field, the time will be faster then the tennis courts, because of the track shoes, believe me these drills work my friend. You are a great coach, because you’re not sugarcoating your talks to the father and the player. I have learnt a lot from you and your videos. When I win my tournament in December I will be wearing one of your t-shirts. I usually don’t support you tubers because most of them are complete grifters, and I appreciate your honesty and integrity my friend.

    Man.. i feel sorry for Milan (sorry if I said his name wrong) for giving him so low credit! I saw previous videos of him training with Nik and he's a beast! He has to trust his game and have more confidence! My highlight of Safin was during the 13min of the video, showed a noticiable higher intensity than the beginning.. but then again, maybe he's pacing himself so he lasts the match and doesn't burn out? Very great content Nik, your comments are gold for us, as you said in your previous video "the importance of match play" is key, watching this kind of content with your insights its awesome.. Thanks!!

    GOD bless you young people to be able to keep playing on these hard courts and not feel any pain after playing on what I call knee killers.
    I played on the hard tru yesterday and I felt no pain afterwards. This was a excellent match, and great coaching my friend.
    I am thinking of Milan hit a more a flatter forehand on put away shots, it would help out in his matches. It’s also to see Milan not wearing a hat, I literally thought he slept with his hats on! Hahe
    I was demoing some new racquets yesterday and I am liking the Yonax on serves, and the Pro Staff on ground strokes, it’s a little heavier, I also like the head racquets, they are nice. I have always played with Wilson racquets, but I really like the Yonex when hitting slice and kick serves. I would say that the Yonex strings are complete trash, and I broke strings on two different racquets. Dude I am 51 year old disabled man, and if I am hitting serves hard enough to break a string, the strings are trash. I am wondering what type of strings these fellas are using?

    • @Shaunsweeney-Kubach71
      @Shaunsweeney-Kubach71 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IntuitiveTennis me either, I only have 11 bucks invested in the strings, and I am looking for a stringer to string tennis rackets, I used to string my own rackets when I played in tournaments, and I loved stringing my own rackets because I could try different strings and different tensions. I also have been a player who always had a lower tension in the profiles, I usually sting 38, 35, and 40, my friends at the time strung their racquets in the high 60s and lower 70s. My coach at the time always taught us to let the racquets work for you, and not you working for the racquets. Control is easy for me because I literally have the most basic swing in tennis. I just bring the racquet back and use very little topspin on contact, I just step into the ball and swing through the ball, so I am trying different strings to get a feel for the ball and get my touch back at the net.
      Ashley and I have been playing mini tennis, and now from watching your videos she can serve from the service line. I have to be honest, I enjoyed playing with the demos yesterday and trying modern racquets. I like Boabolet, and the Yonex, the Blade wasn’t balanced enough for me to hit proper topspin, but my flat strokes were accurate, deep, and on the lines. I was hitting some great slice serves and kick serves, until the stupid Yenox strings broke, on two separate and completely different racquets, the Yonex broke strings, and the Blade broke a string on my second ball I hit on serve and it was a kick serve, and the strings, so I am going with a different string if I get a Yonex racquet, I like Boabolet better for every shot, it was a much lighter racquet. So I will let you know about the strings on your string video. I lost 25 pounds my good man, from using your videos. Ty

    Man this is such a great training video. Lots of valuable lessons to be learned. Listen to Nick’s comments. Watch how both players are constantly on their toes and moving their feet to be ready or adjust to the ball. They use different spins, placement and net clearance to work and construct each point. TH-cam is a great learning tool but at the end of the day nothing beats working with a teaching pro on an actual court to develop your game. Just an opinion from an old high school tennis coach. Nick has one of the best tennis channels on TH-cam. He is the real deal 🎾🎾

    Watching this match was kind of like watching a horror movie... I would see Safin hit a series of solid shots, then move Milan off the court with a really good one to get a short ball, and then come in for the approach and I'm watching anxiously thinking "oh no Safin don't put this one in the net give it some spin omg I can't watch noooooo..."
    Following Safin's progress I feel invested now and am rooting for him... Like Nick said, he's a junior and wasn't that far off from a former D2 level player, so close... c'mon Safin, you can do it!

      @@ZOMBIELANDakaUSA it was 6-1, but there were multiple deuces in the first and third game, and in the third game Safin had break point and played a first serve that was pretty clearly out. Qualitatively, though Safin was able to hang with a high level player that most rec players would struggle to win points against, and many of the points he lost were points he where he had the advantage and then missed the putaway shot, whether it was a volley, overhead, or forehand from the service line. I think it's a good sign that for his potential that he had Milan on the defensive for much of the match

    Love it. ❤️ The dialogue with his dad. The critiques. The encouragement... The overhead issue is from lack of strength. Hopefully he will get stronger, but at the same time he need to hit the gym. His front court issues could be from his lack of concentrating on the ball 'through' the contact process. The serve toss issues may be from turning his shoulders and body away from the ball a little too much during the trophy position. Not really trying to run all the balls down appear to be again, from lack of strength. He just doesn't have the energy to consistently move. Don't know how old he is so it's hard to know where he is physically. Like the other player said; "the potential is there, he just need to put it all together". I concur. 👍

    I loved this video Nick. I can see a lot of myself in Safin as I am an aggressive style of player with a single hander but I too can make easy mistakes especially in the mid-court and at the net.
    If Safin can cut down on his errors, beef up his serve and get more decisive in the forecourt and net, good things will come his way.
    As a side note, tennis is a really hard sport to play as there are so many variables so I think it is super important to keep your game simple and how ypu want to play very clear. Indecisiveness and indecision and a lack of understanding of who you are as a player has held many a good player back. So Safin needs to keep it simple, develope his serve plus 1 plays onto his forehand and finish at the net.
    But an awesome video, I love matchplay videos👍

    Safin is such a good player, but he has this weird problem where he can’t hit the easiest shots 😂. Forehand cross court? A forehand in general? I’m thinking when he transitions from bh to fh, or gets tentative on the shot he over rotates his grip, dunking it into the net. It can be solved very easily regardless of the problem. You shouldn’t even have to open your eyes to hit a fh. As far as his net play, he just needs to practice more at the net or it could be that tentative overthinking he does like when he hits a fh cc.

      Clearly if you watched Safins series with Nick, you could see his improvement and how he’s working on his game. He’s not simply the “one in the blue hat” if you watched Nicks videos you would know him and his lessons with Safin, it’s quite disrespectful to say that and not even know the player you are criticizing

    • @TimTheMusicMan
      @TimTheMusicMan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Frosty-Films00 ??? I watched this video and made a comment on this video. Blue hat ?? Haha. Nick is great it’s not Nick. It’s possible he improved that’s good but standing on a baseline and especially 10 feet behind the baseline will not get him far. I have no idea how D1 players play maybe they are all standing 10 feet behind the baseline, haha, but tennis is a strange game, the 1,000th ranked player can beat the top 10 player on a good day, there is very little difference between all the players. Everyone is getting coaching and training. I think Nick should take on the and coming women’s players that’s where the $$ is, the mens game has no real differences everyone can do basically the same as the other. The women who have an athletic edge are more apt to making it big, that is where Nick should be. I wish him well but it’s just simply too difficult in the mens game. You can have perfect strokes and still lose. If he changes and rushes the net on every possible attempt he may be able to rattle his opponent but baseline play can only go so far. And pickle ball is really taking over tennis. Best. And more Anna videos Nick please. :)
