I have yet to find anyone who is as supremely knowledgeable as Marvin is … he definitely knows his stuff and I definitely will be calling his broker company when i am ready to get this process going
Great video! You’ve been my go-to on this subject for a while. How on earth very elderly or health-compromised folks ever understand it is asking the impossible.
I turned 65 years old two weeks ago. Your videos helped me to navigate through the Medicare enrollment process. This video was super helpful for me to review the Plan D update. Thank you, Marvin. ❤
Doesn’t CMS apply a $15/month subsidy to every Part D plan for 2025? Some of my free generic meds this year go up several tiers in 2025 and require a significant copay!
Thanks for making this video. This is the second year I have been on Medicare and I find your explanations are great for me to understand what is changing this year and how it will effect me. Your company was very helpful this year in getting eye care straighten out.
I don't know about other states, but Maryland has the "Birthday Rule" which says that from your birthday and for 31 days, you can switch from one supplement to another with no underwriting as long as benefits are equal to or less than your current plan.
ANOC is the reason smart individuals should stay on original Medicare. Remember there is no such thing as trusted advisor, do your homework and not rely on someone else. Lazy people will be taken advantage of
what about medications not covered by the plan/formulary (Restasis eye drops) which are very expensive. Will that go on my $2K out of pocket or not used at all? Thanks
If it is not covered by your plan/formulary it does not go toward that $2000 cap. You can ask your provider to write a formulary exception to the carrier to then have it added in, if they accept it can then go toward that amount.
You can make changes to a supplement plan any time through the year not subject to the enrollment period. It will likely require you to go through underwriting to make that change depending on where you live. If you have any questions you can call our office at 1-800-864-8890.
I've heard conflicting information about the monthly plan D premium. If I'm paying $94 per month for the premium, and say I get to the max $2000 in the first 3 months of the year, do I still pay the premium? Or does that drop off after I get to the max?
You will more than likely have to medically qualify to go from one plan to another. The only only difference between F and G is that Plan F covers all gaps including the Part B deductible and Plan G only covers 5 of the 6 gaps leaving you responsible for the deductible. We would be happy to review plans with you and see if you qualify for changes. You can call our office at 1-800-864-8890.
What happens if the insurance carrier is not going to be on the list in the health network? I am paying Humana for my supplemental Medicare Plan F. You have said that this is the best plan. Can I switch carriers and keep my Plan F?
Since you have a Supplement plan with Humana providers and hospitals legally have to accept that plan no matter what. That is a law that all supplements must be accepted regardless of what carrier it is with. To avoid any billing hiccups you will want to just provide them with your Medicare card when you are being seen. Medicare themselves will send the bill over to Humana to make the remaining payments after they have done so.
I'm looking to switch companies for my part-c. c-SNP. However, the new company can't or won't tell me who their preferred providers are for part B insulin pump supplies. Is this normal?
It could be due to cost, flexibility of networks, more comprehensive coverage, or that they want to get onto a supplement before their health changes and they no longer qualify. It varies person to person and what they desire to have within their coverage.
You can while some might be preferred and other a standard pharmacy. If it is preferred your cost would be lower at pick vs using a standard pharmacy you may pay a little more out of pocket at pick up. You can verify with your carrier what your preferred and standard pharmacies are!
@@MedicareSchool The prices listed on my research at medicare.gov are not at all in line with a "preferred vs standard." In short, can I pick and choose different pharmacies for different medications without penalty? The annual difference is quite substantial. If you'd like to investigate further, I can get the data to you. This seems like a huge topic to me.
You can contact carriers directly to see if they offer them where you live, or you can always call us directly and we can review what is available in your area. You can reach us at 1-800-864-8890.
Hey Marvin, My Part D insurer, Mutual of Omaha, just sent me a letter saying that they will not offer a PART D PLAN to me in 2025 and that I need to go find another insurer. WHAT THE HECK! Will I now be sent to Underwriting with another carrier or am I guaranteed coverage with any other insurer who is writing a plan in my County here in New Jersey that I may chose? And since my insulin is gonna make me reach the $2,000 max out of pocket in the first QTR of 2005, then I can simply disregard whatever the premium is from any other insurer because I am capped at $2,000. Is that correct? Oh, and is the Premium part of that $2,000 or not? I am confused.
Part D plans do not require underwriting, that is only supplement plans that require that. The $2000 max cap does not include your monthly premium, so even after you reach that $2000 for your prescriptions you will still have to pay for the monthly premium on the plan.
Have received my drug ANOC That has increased 35.00 as monthly premium. Deductible went up 310.00. Tier 1 drugs went from 0 copay to 5 copay. I only have 2 scripts that in 2024 cost me 14.90 total. Can I do better?
In the Part D explanation you stated that the OOP cap this year was $3350, but mine was $8000 with my UHC Advantage plan. Can you explain the difference?

Or just move to Canada. The only thing you pay for doctor and hospital visits is for parking. And a small pharmacy fee for prescriptions. But there's no corruption here, right?
@@liap1293 Lived in Canada for 10 years and never heard of such a ting unless... it's propaganda from big pharma here. Maybe longer if it's elective, but generally speaking, there's no difference. In fact it may be faster in some cases. Been there, done that.
