Medicare itself is a non-profit healthcare insurance system.
But the Republicans have added on parts to Medicare that are for-profit. Those parts are Medicare advantage and Medicare part d, the drug plan.
It's not really a Republican versus Democratic issue. It's a lack of campaign finance regulation.
Most democracies do not allow foreign money to be given to politicians, but since the Republican engineered citizens United decision, United States not only has foreign money, it has money where it is absolutely impossible to trace the source of that income.
So there's really only one political party in the United states.

@MedicareSchool While I have to say THANKS for ALL your informative videos, I have to say our Government could care less about us seniors on Medicare/SS/SSDI/SSI. They SHOULD be doing their job & helping us, instead of milking things for themselves. They should ALL be FIRED. Anyway, just thought I would bring to light MY experience & research to hopefully help others that MAY read this, or again IF you might bring this topic up to help others that do not know. ALL one needs to do is look up their local dental schools, either full blown dental or community colleges. They have a full staff of students that do x-rays, preventative, & cleanings for FREE! There are dentists that go around to each student & patient making sure everything is done correctly. Also, not only that but again the FULL blown dental schools (many) will do fillings, extractions, etc. as well as, there are many VOLUNTEERS IN MEDICINE offices that will provide FULL dental for many (depending on income, and are in between medicaid & Medicare) Not enough income, yet not enough to apply for medicaid. PLEASE pass it on!

By the time you add it all up you're broke. Good thing my Primary Care Doctor and my Dentist and Optometrist were all in the network. So as far as that goes I'm good. When you're retired and on a fixed income you have to watch every penny. Those insurance premiums get more expensive as we age.

I had United Healthcare's Advantage Plan (I just switched to a supplement plan G though) and I had a molar break at the gumline then become abscessed at the root. Terrible pain. Anyway, my dental yearly maximum that my Advantage Plan would pay out was $799.00!! To me, that's a ridiculously low amount and an odd amount, too. Why $799? Why not just round it to $800? Weird.
Well, I saw a dentist and they took x-rays then gave me a prescription for a 14 day supply of antibiotics. That's ALL that was done at that visit. I still ended up paying a little over $100 myself after the $799 covered by my insurance.
So my point is that even if your Advantage Plan does offer dental coverage, be prepared to pay more out of your own pocket or get a private dental plan to add to your Advantage Plan.

  • @alansach8437
    @alansach8437 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

The problem with most dental plans is that they only cover a limited amount of work each year. Say $1,000.00 or $1,500.00, and the premiums are half that, so your real savings are only $500.00 or $750.00, and most years you won't use it for more than a cleaning or two, so you end up paying 500.00 or 750.00 for 150.00-200.00 worth of service! You are almost better off to pay cash for your cleanings and have a dental savings account to cover when you need a crown or something like that. If you need major, major work, these plans will only cover a small portion of it anyway!

I’m not positive what they meant by telling me that but I’m sure they would want you to know it as well because you seem to have a problem with how insurance is written and there are laws that govern such things and you can get involved and change it instead of talking about it I think is what was implied when it was told me!

As for running, I have the personality of a pomegranate, so don't think it would work out!😂The least we can do as citizens, if we can't run, is vote! Most Republicans want to cut or privitize programs like Medicare. Sure, you get SOME dental and vision coverage with the private Advantage Plans, but at what cost? You are lucky. You essentially paid $4000 for the overpriced root canal. In Mexico, a USA trained dentist would probably have charged $300 - $400.

Question - I had covid in May 2020 and it appeared if there were no symptoms. Come November my teeth started breaking off. In January, NPR had a dentist and doctor on and they were both doctors to a teenage boy who had had covid. 6 months later his teeth started breaking off and the doctors said it was due to covid settling in the blood rich jaws. When the teeth broke there was no pain except for the sharp points of the break, no blood and they concurred it was due to covid. This was the same pattern for me. Because this was caused by covid, would it be covered by my Medicare?

The most efficient deliverer of medical insurance in the U.S. is (traditional) Medicare. Medicare For All would save about $450 billion a year and save around 68,000 lives a year, but cost about $450 billion less per year.

Insurance companies decided that they were not fleecing the country fast enough with traditional Medicare, so they convinced congress to create the even more outrageous medicare advantage plans.
MA management has zero incentive to treat patients. The more claims they reject, the more profit for their investors.

Medicare Advantage does cover dental, although regular Medicare does not. I personally, have Physicians Mutual, which has been great for me, because I don't have Medicare Advantage. I previously had Aetna, and they were awful. At $38.80 per month, PM has paid for everything that i have had done, I know if I need a root canal and crown, it may not cover everything, but it will at least cover 75% of it, which is way more than Aetna ever would. with a 'rider' on my plan, they added vision coverage for an additional $6.00 more, which is also another thing that Medicare does not cover.

If I buy Original Medicare A and B, Plan N plus D, dental and vision in addition to that, - it will be about $400 a month. Four Thousand Dollars a year. That's how much you pay for peace of mind. It's all about money. Keep working and pay till you die. Forget about retirement.

Every time you mention advantage plans you lose me. These advantage plans are awful. Insurance brokers push them because they get more money for every person they sign up into these horrible plans.
Hospitals as well as doctors are dropping advantage plans left and right because of how horrible these plans are.
Advantage plans lure you with all these extra so-called benefits. This sounds really good until you require real medical care and advantage plans deny your treatments deeming them medically unnecessary. Constantly putting a patient's well-being in jeopardy. These plans are nothing more than Insurance companies putting profit over people

How is anybody supposed to understand this? I am confused. But, I know that I will have to pay an extreme amount of money that I don't have. I listen to your videos, but it is all a blur to me. I don't understand anything. It's unbelievably complicated and I can't keep up with your rate of speech. So I only conclude that I will end up having to pay way more for my health care than I can possibly afford. I am totally and completely frustrated and overwhelmed. The government has made it unbelievably complicated and impossible to understand. The system is broken. Obamacare has created an impossible situation that is designed to fail. And, we are experiencing that failure, which will lead to medical care rationing and further devastating circumstances. This is an impossible situation that cannot be fixed by conventional means. Your explanations are appreciated, but still, not helpful. I cannot follow the information that you are providing so rapidly and with such extraordinary complication. But, I suppose, that is the nature of the subject. What an impossible mess for those of us who are struggling with all of this government caused chaos.
