And yes, Coheed is legitimately one of the best bands in the planet. Lyrically, lives, musicianship, story telling... they have it all.

So true. Even for bands I like I don't usually go out of my way to see them live because the sound often sucks and the performances aren't as good. I'll go out of my way to see Coheed every. damn. time because they always sound incredible and bring the performance.
I've seen Coheed in concert 13 times (My first time was in 2003 when I was 14) and I'm about to go see them again July 19th in Atlanta Ga.! I had tickets to go see them in October 2020 but due to covid it got canceled... I had the keywork tattooed on my arm 15 years ago. I guess you could say I am a fan boy 😂

I've had the pleasure of meeting Coheed, and Claudio and the boys are super humble. Absolutely one of the best groups of guys I've ever met in my life. Claudio amazes me over again each time I see him live. I have been a fan since in keeping secrets and it’s one band that my interest has never wavered in. It’s great to have some of those techniques explained. Especially being baritone and like literally unable to comprehend him lol
Coheed put on the best live show ever. It's almost a chorus event with the way the crowd sings every word to every song

Just finding this now, but the Nervous Energy sessions of Feathers, A Favor House Atlantic and Mother Superior from 2012, as well as the Cardinal Sessions of Blood Red Summer and You Got Spirit, Kid from 2015 are my absolute favorite acoustic Coheed & Cambria performances.

Ah Claudio, master of the diphthong. C&C are so amazing live, I think I've seen them 7 or 8 times. I'd definitely recommend Gravity's Union for a real showcase of what the band is capable of.
I’ve been a fan since 2004 and gravity’s union has slowly taken the lead as my favorite song of theirs. So raw and powerful.
Agreed - very underrated and under the radar when looking at the usual songs that come up.
Gravity’s union became my favorite song over the writing writer part 1 the very first time I heard it. It’s masterful in the song structure. Travis with the solo while Claudio screams that final bridge 🤘🏻🤘🏻
You need to check out Coheed and Cambria’s “No World For Tomorrow” song and also “Here We Are Juggernaut”. They both still give me goosebumps to this day.

You earned a sub right here! Hard to find people on the greater interweb sphere discussing Coheed and Cambria. IMHO the best band in the world! A crying shame that fewer still are people analyzing the Godsend gift of Claudio Sanchez' vocals! Being a Coheed fan comes with a price, where that's the pinnacle of music for you and you can't find another band or vocalist that remotely fits in that category. As a hopeful beginner vocalist myself, this was a treasure! Thanks!

My fav band since 02 their back catalog is phenomenal. A close 2nd place goes to Sleep Token. You should react to Blood sport livee from the room below for raw emotion. You will not regret it. Their fan base is getting bigger every day. Enjoy

Claudio has kind of a unique theatric approach but it really works with the song writing style. Not everyone could pull that off and still seem so genuine....he's definitely carved a unique niche for his band that makes them memorable. He used to sing much higher when he was younger.
The comic series is based on the music not the other way around. It's a space opera told through music with elements of his real life put in there giving it a personal touch.

There's a video on TH-cam of a small acoustic show he plays late after a gig. He does a cover of Faithfully, which is absolutely fantastic (If you can get over the stupid people trying to clap for about 15 seconds).

I don't know why exactly Claudio or Alanis do it, but in the classical world, we would add "shadow vowels" (because we never call it that lol) because final consonants usually get buried. Those consonants are usually the difference between whether the audience can understand you or not, especially in choral settings.
But, if I had to wager, I would sooner guess it's a stylistic thing. lol

C&C is prog-gish metal. Almost exclusively focused on concept albums. This is an acoustic version. It works quite admirably here, because Sanchez is murdering that acoustic guitar, but the original has excellent production and composition and I would still highly suggest to listen to that to get the full picture. The build-up and dramaturgy coupled with the hookiness found on many of the tracks is without equal, to be honest. Used to love them, but his voice was never for me in huge doses. Unlike Geddy's, as a person in chat (rightfully) compares this polarization factor of his voice to.
Coheed and Cambria are great when they aren't trying to be something other than Coheed and Cambria. I am not a fan of YotBR nor Vaxis for this very reason. YotBR had a harder rock sound that didn't sound authentic to their work and Vaxis sounds like a mimic of Queen. All the other albums are absolutely amazing. When getting someone into Coheed, I always tell them to start with Afterman. Afterman had such a range of different sounds that you would hear from Coheed, that it would get you prepared for what to expect from other albums. 10 years, Coheed was my favorite band...things have changed and I have finally moved on to another band, but man, the experiences that Coheed gave me I will always be grateful for. So many eargasms, so many times I'd sing at the top of my lungs. When I go listen to Coheed, I still get eargasms. What a fantastic band. Times change, people change. Ideals and beliefs once held become hollow and void of righteousness, thus becoming hypocritical...this is good though as it shows that they too are just humans.
Oh, if you want to hear Coheed at their worst, look up the Neverender Boxset...that is really hard to get through...his voice was BAD! If you want some of the best work from them, I'd say listen to Last Supper or any of the LIVE recorded shows that they did for TH-cam. My favorite one is the one that starts off with a Rocky quote. One of the things that probably pushed me away from the band is actually the woman in which Claudio Married. She is a talented singer, but she belongs no where near the story, yet she became part of it and you could see the words in the box set become more "flowery" and try hard...to me, Chondra is like the Yoko Ono of Coheed and Cambria. I really have no desire to buy the boxsets as I was so disappointed with Vaxis. Maybe one day they will return to their roots, but even then, Chondra is now "helping" with the writing...oh and Claudio is probably part of the freemasons now, but he won't tell ;)
