    Just found your videos a couple of weeks ago. I've seen a lot of videos on fishing back bay for fluke and your nvideos are one of the best. Looking forward to seeing more videos in 2021.

      Very happy to hear you find value in the videos. I wanted to do what I could to help people catch more fish and am dying to get back out there for some fluke fishing! Hope to see you on the water.

    Rich, awesome video, really enjoying the content and time that you are taking to explain. These are making the cold days and nites easy to get thru. Will definitely be in touch as we get closer

      Glad you like them! These videos aren't as popular as the catch videos, but the point of the channel is to help people catch, so hopefully people check them out.

    Hi Rich, 22" and 18" are really good size fluke for mid August. I just got home from Corson's Inlet. We caught a couple of shorts and a bunch of sea robins. The fluke were caught on the teaser. I read in last week's fishing report that sand eel lures were catching fluke. The teaser I used today was a soft plastic sand eel with Pro-Cure "Inshore" scent. I had Gulp and squid on the main hook. I use plain Gulp or Gulp and squid together lately. Changing the Gulp often seems to be the secret. Gotta have my Gulp !! We also went out into the ocean and found several large schools of full size Bunker. I'm sure the Blue Fish will be here soon to feed on them. Take care and good luck, Mickey

      Some good advice there. I've been burning through the Gulp this summer. I'll try using a sand eel teaser (I have a sand eel fly I use for striper). Will have to dig out my striper gear and try it out this weekend.

      Hi Rich, The teaser I used today was a YUM, Swim'n Dinger 5" watermelon over white. It's a long, thin paddle tail. You could put an old Gulp body ( a swim mullet with the tail bit off ) in front of the YUM. A long "J" hook should hold the Gulp body ( for scent ) and the YUM . Or just the YUM with Pro Cure. I like paddle tail soft plastics for action and vibration. Good luck, Mickey

      Fat Dad Fishing I’m in Stone Harbor for the week and fishing every day. I’ve fished fresh water for years in kayak And boat. I upgraded my kayak to a SOT and just starting to fish the salt. Most of what I’m reading says the fluke have moved out. I found a 19 in keeper in the back bay today. I’m going back out tomorrow to try some of the type of spots you spoke about in the video. Thanks again for the content! It speeds up the learning curve.

      @@patvandermeer8143 There are still keepers in the back bays. I've caught at least one every Saturday since mid June. I know Stone Harbor VERY well. We had a family summer home there for over 60 years until it was sold a few years ago. I do a lot of videos in that area.

      Fat Dad Fishing I recognized the first bridge on the south end of Stone Harbor in one of your videos. I caught a 19 in keeper there last week plus several just short. Thanks for the content. It’s helpful for those of us just learning the salt water.

    Hey Rich, do you remember what the water depth is in this creek around the 5 minute mark ? I know it changes as the tide goes out but wondering if I can get my boat up there at high tide. Thanks Rick

    • @FatDadFishing
      @FatDadFishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its a bit dicey to get in there and it will really depend on the draft and size of your boat. If you hug the sod on the right side at the entrance at high tide you will have a narrow channel that will open up to a 10-12 foot depth. (its now different depths than it was when I made this video). If I recall from a few weeks ago I believe it was 4 or 5 feet at the shallowest spot at high tide. Do NOT try to enter or exit on the left side at any tide with a boat. You might be able to get in, but the channel on that side is extremely narrow. Once inside you can likely push in a bit, but you need to be careful because the first long straight-away gets pretty shallow all the way across. The deeper holes are all at the bends (normally the outside of each bend).

    did you only catch flounder/ fluke on this set up?

    • @FatDadFishing
      @FatDadFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      During this trip I also caught one very small sea bass and one sea robin. I use the same set-up when targeting striped bass as well in the fall and spring. (same rods and reels, line, and terminal tackle).
