From Ireland. 79 yrs old. I pray for Bono. His parent's,had a mixed marriage. In time I think he may accept the teachings of Mother Church. that's my prayer for him. 🙏☘️
I remember watching him on "The Meaning of Life " with Gay Byrne. He sounded sincere. I prayed for my own brother for almost 50. Yes. He gave up drinking and smoking the same day when he was 66. He returned to the Church less than ten yrs later. In the fullness of time who knows. Nothing is impossible with God.🙏☘️
U2 is a wonderful band! Gloria is one of the best songs ever written! We don’t need negativity and hating on this band. We are ALL in need of Christ and forgiveness!
Bono has not only been faithfully married to the same woman for 40 years, he expresses his complete awe of her. They've known each other since they were 13 years old, and she may very well be the only woman he has ever slept with. He speaks of her (and sings of her) as someone who is still a mystery to him, after all these years. He said once that he often gathered his whole family on the bed to have prayer time. He openly declared during an interview his absolute belief in the bodily Resurrection of Christ...to a man who was smirking at him for it. As for his politics, I believe he has a spiritual gift that is related to his need to fight systemic poverty on a macro level. It's how he functions in the Body of Christ. He acknowledges that capitalism has lifted so many out of poverty...while remaining, in his words, "a flaming liberal". I think he means that his Christian focus is on the poor, pointing to Jesus' "manifesto", as he calls it, in Luke 4. I am so sad that conservative Christians have so little to do with the poor, when Jesus devoted virtually His entire ministry to them. They are the ones who are most open to the Gospel, because they understand their need for God. The rich rarely do. Remember the Blessed Mother's Magnificat..."He has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away empty-handed." (Luke 1:53)
But aren’t most charitable institutions, baby pantries, free clinics, free counseling, food pantries, etc. run by people who would consider themselves Conservative? And many conservative churches have outreaches to the poor that are regularly supported by their conservative members in the pew through donations or volunteering.
I have a conservative Catholic friend who lives in the ghetto and runs a soup kitchen who has conservative Catholic volunteers including a conservative Catholic priest that serves there on his one day off and the mission is financially supported by conservative Catholics.
praying for Bono and for him to come to know the Love Jesus has for him - and so many fellow Irish, who lost their faith. Will see you tmrw, Matt, at your talk in Dublin!
I discovered U2 in CCM back in the early 80s,as this Irish Christian Rock Band. I really liked their music to the Joshua Tree album and then they lost me. Dressing up as satan doesn't produce Good Fruit 😔
Really? "Grace, she takes the blame / She covers the shame / Removes the stain". So bad they pushed their dodgy album on all Itunes users as a forced download.Bit like the forced curtailing of life they promote. As does (now it appears) this channel.
Expecting immediate ideological and behavioral perfection is a futile endeavor both in ourselves and others. It takes what it takes. In the meantime God has repeatedly demonstrated he’s willing to work with/through people who are far from being ideologically and behaviorally perfect.
Of course, he is for abortion. Altiyan Childs exposes him as a freemason (= Satanist). Is he trying to protect himself from evil by wearing the rosary because he sold his soul to the devil?
The Hewsons were landed gentry from Asketon Co. Limerick. Particularly cruel to the local peasents ,they were also known as priest hunters during the penal times.
The bit about grace and karma reminded me of this Bono quote about Jeff Buckley: “[Talking about Grace] Apart from being my favourite word or name in the English language, Grace overpowers karma. Grace does not make sense. It rewards where rewards are not justified. It covers where no cover is expected. It is the highest human state. Jeff Buckley's voice reminds me of the first line of the old Salvation Army hymn "Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound." Grace as a signature. Grace personified in one man's vibrato − a delicate, tremulous voice which rightfully betrays its Middle Eastern tutelage. Jeff was trained in Sufi singing. His ululating voice reminds me how few singers there are in Rock and Roll.” - Bono of U2 taken from the December 1999 issue of Propaganda

Don't you think that famous people like Bono have issues with the Church because of their own ego? They consider themselves intellectuals, well educated, and do not like authority. When they talk, thousands of people listen on what they have to say. They have the answers. It possibly be real difficult to totally surrender.
