    I left the faith in my mid 20s. Met a girl, fell in love, got married had 2 kids then I found Jesus again. Reverted back to Catholicism, got my kids baptized and my wife eventually enrolled into the RCIA last year.

    This video was very timely for me as a Protestant (potentially) dating a Catholic. Helps me understand some of the things we will need to wrestle with over the next few months. While the specifics may differ, the principles pretty much align with any two Christians from different backgrounds dating each other. It is very critical that you are both on the same page about core issues of belief and practice. Appreciate the clear and gracious presentation. Blessings!

      Show her that none of the exclusive Catholic teachings like intercession, confessions, and apostolic succession, are in the Bible. Then you’ll have two Protestants and it’ll be smooth sailing 😊

      @v3nomxxx961 also know who compiled the Bible and what early Christians did before it was written and even able to be mass produced.

      @@v3nomxxx961 All of it is in the Bible. Although it doesn't have to be to be permissible as long at it is part of sacred tradition which CAN NOT contradict scriptural tradition ei the Bible.
      1. *Intercession* 1 Tim 2:5 "Jesus is the one mediator" NOT ONLY! "one" in this verse means *primary or most important*
      2. *Confession* It is definitely in the Bible and is expound in oral tradition which is also the word of God
      3. *Apostolic succession* If you Translate "upon Cephas (stone, rock, peter, petros), I will build my church". Who was the Bishop of Antioch during the rise of ignatius? Who ordained Ignatius so that who could appoint him bishop?

    • @v3nomxxx961
      @v3nomxxx961 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@MarkelBeverley sadly your claims don’t have much ground to stand upon. Just because it is sacred tradition does not mean it cannot contradict scripture. This is why us Christian’s must be constantly evaluating whether or whether not our practices and beliefs line up with the word of God.
      1. Im sorry brother but you’re either wil fully ignorant or perhaps you stumbled past the term. ‘The one’ is pretty darn clear. THE is final. I wouldn’t say you’re the one human. That is grammatically and factually incorrect. The one means there is only one. Jesus is the one and only mediator
      2. Confession is in the Bible although you didn’t provide scripture., but not in the Catholic context. The scripture Catholics cite as an explanation is James 5:16 which says that we should confess our sins to one another so we may PRAY together about them. It doesn’t say we are required to sit in a confession both and ask for a priest to forgive us. It says we should tell our fellow Christian’s about our sins and have them pray over us so we may be healed. Jesus is the only mediator and the only one who can forgive sins in the eyes of God, to wipe them away. Humans can’t do that.
      3. Apostolic succession is not biblical. Not only can we NOT prove that the chain is unbroken, there is no basis for it. Both the orthodox and the Catholic Church claim to have the unbroken line so one of yall is lying. Second, never once is the succession of apostles mentioned. Just because mattias replaced Judas or Ignacious replaced Peter doesn’t mean their apostolic authority is also passed. It is never claimed In scripture that we need to have 12 apostles, heck if we were gonna go with apostolic succession than we’d need 12 not just one so it makes no sense. Peter was chosen for his faith. Any time a rock is used metaphorically in scripture it is representative of faith or faithfulness. Look at Abraham. The Father is the rock because of His faithfulness.
      It’s important to do the research yourself, pray for answers, and really reconsider everything you believe in. It is a crucial part of being a Christian in a lying and unreliable world

    • @MarkelBeverley
      @MarkelBeverley 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@v3nomxxx961 Brother, I encourage you to re-read your comment. I would lighten up on the accusation of grammatical errors as there are plenty in your comment lol.
      1. "THE" is english. The way we use one, we add "and only" to the English translate of "one" used in this verse . The way we use this word is not the same as in scripture. If you believe Christ is the only mediator while having no problem praying for your neighbor, then *YOU are demonstrating willful ignorance through paradoxical reasoning* Just like believing that the Bible is the sole authority of Christianity on earth. It is a self contradicting man-made doctrine. The Bible itself was compiled by a religious institution that is a direct production of sacred tradition it is oral tradition which is ALSO the word of God which is why I say it CANNOT contradict scripture.
      2. Don't forget John 1:19!! Your limited knowledge on early Christianity is *not* surprising. Prots typically are extremely clueless, not only to scripture, but to original Christian teachings as you rely on yourselves to interpret scripture how you see fit based on how you feel or how it pertains to your current circumstances which change like the wind and has bred some of the most absurd ideologies of the West from FMNSM to the "age of enlightenment".
      God "breathed" upon the apostles John 20:22 Receiving the Holy Spirit giving them the power and authority needed to carry out the reconciliation of others through Christ. Power to *Those first priests* such as priests of the temple that of the old law to distribute reconciliation through sacrificial atonement. Remember, *he came not to abolish the law but to fulfill it* You made sacrificial atonements to those first priests, but the WAY you make atonements changed as Christianity is the fulfillment of Judaism. Such as the word "trinity" not being in the Bible, this concept is alluded in the Bible. BUT, abandon the premise that EVERYTHING comes from the Bible. IT DOES NOT and prior to the 16th century and a bitter Priest (excommunicated by Pope Leo X on 3 January 1521), that was never taught in Christian history as what they relied on produced a carefully constructed compilation of scriptures or what you know as the Bible.
      3. The Orthodox is a break off from Catholicism also known as "schism". You don't know enough about that to speak on it as they are not protestants. It also *does not* support your claim that Apostolic succession doesn't exist. Also, *your concept of the succession is completely wrong* which is how I know you know VERY LITTLE of what you are talking about. There would *not* be 12 POPES LOL, as Christ specifically chose *Peter* to build his church upon. The same ROCK or Cephas who appointed Ignatius 'the Bishop of Antioch' after he was ordained by Paul at the end of the reign of Evodius. The function of the apostolic position is assigned to priests, as apostles were originally called to distribute the sacraments i.e. reconciliation (confession), baptism, the words of God, blessings, etc.
      The word "Rock" was not used metaphorically as the Aramaic translation does NOT suggest that in the slightest.
      *It's important to understand Christian history in its full context and not to believe YOU are the arbiter of scripture* Understand that NO Christian prior to the 16th century believed that the Bible was the sole authority of Christian life. It is AN INFALLIBLE PART OF SACRED TRADITION, but not the entire thing. This is why "praying for answers" regarding scripture is absurd. That was taught by Martin Luthor himself LOL that when you read the Bible and pray, the scripture will be "revealed to you" in other words YOUR ultimate interpretation of God's transcribed words are always true so as long as you say a prayer before you interpret it. Normal Protestant prattle
      You seriously need to rethink your position on Church and Biblical history.

    Thanks for this video Elizabeth 🥲 I'm dating a non-catholic (though he has the sacraments) and actually I was thinking about this these days. He´s such a sweetie, such a beautiful man, and we are talking more frecuently about the future, about us getting married. I presented to him this channel really early in the relationship so he can understand my beliefs haha (maybe he'll read my comment, lol, hi love!!) and, though he doesn't agreed 100% with everything, he seems open with the things you mentioned in this video. But I'll not lie that it makes me a little anxious sometimes, specially now that I've started praying a lot more and find myself much more closer to the faith than ever before. I'm afraid that maybe God has another plans. But well... I have to be more pacient and trust the Lord, let all in His hands and be confident that He wants the best for us... Prayers are welcome ❤ and thanks again!!!

    1. A Catholic should marry a Catholic
    If Catholic not available,
    2. Only marry a previously non Catholic who has genuinely converted to Catholic. You need to be patient to be sure of this

There may be others as well but at the moment I can’t think of others. SDA seems to be very close to right, especially got a healthy diet by Biblical standards and definitely has the correct Sabbath instead of the false sunday sabbath created by the Catholic Church.

    I don't wanna sound mean; but I think marrying a non-Catholic is a foolish thing to do. Saying "there's not enough Catholic men/women so I'm gonna marry a protestant" is a cop out. But it's your funeral. I know a Catholic who married a protestant and they don't go to church together. The wife still hasn't converted decades later. I feel sorry for the kids. Your better off marrying a lukewarm Catholic. But then again there are Protestants that are open to the Catholic faith and interested in learning. Those guys are awesome, but don't date to evangelize. They're not a project. But be careful of the fakers who say they'll 'convert' after you marry.

    As a Protestant who watches a lot of catholic theology videos, it's never the catholic theology itself that is off-putting. What always ruins the videos is how all protestants are lumped into one group. There are too many differences between denominations to do that. Whether on purpose to simplify the video or due to lack of understanding of protestants or whatever, it adds a lazy or disingenuous undertone to what otherwise could be a great video. As an example, I, a conservative Lutheran, should not be presented as having the same theology as a liberal Methodist or a baptist etc. To pretend that we are the same is misinformed at best and purposefully slanderous at worst. Do better.
