  • Hey Guys 😊
    Just like we agreed, here's Feb's vlog. I went to train SAICA trainees that are coming to the UK to start their articles. I hope this is something a lot of you will consider doing in future should you want to.

    You look amazing with earrings on 🥺😍
    I think our black counter parts are truly scared to make the move out of concern about living conditions and the salary...
    I surely do not want to find myself struggling to help home whilst staying overseas.

      Valid point. I really hope the trainee salary this side is reasonable for a good standard of living.

    Would I have to pay for everything to get to the UK since you said the company only reimburses you after? I think that could be the number one problem for people of colour from a disadvantaged background especially since it is straight out of varsity.

    • @NtwanieNgomane

      Yes.. I have found that that is another hurdle we have to overcome unfortunately.

    Hi Ntwani, i am currently doing my articles in Cape Town at the same firm your working at. Does the UK accept applicants who've already started their articles?

    I was contacted by Gap talent I. The UK but could not go because the bursary I use requires me to be in SA to work back the time they paid for my fees, otherwise I'd have to pay back the money.

    • @NtwanieNgomane
      @NtwanieNgomane  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes.. unfortunately you cannot have any clawback on bursaries if you want to do articles abroad

    Hi
    Ntwanie thanks a lot for this video.
    However, unless l am mistaken its not that simple. There is the small thing of ancestry. If l am not mistaken, you are either from the UK. your parents were from the UK or you can apply through having a grandparent who has UK citizenship. So l am actually surprised there were some people of colour as you put it who were there. To be honest l was expecting that it will be an all white crowd, through no fault of theirs.
    So l do not think it is a question of ignorance or a lack of desire, it is simply a matter of not having the requisite requirements to qualify for the programme. I once l checked up on this and unless l am wrong or things have since evolved that was the reason virtually all the candidates are a certain demographic.
    Anyway hope this clears it up but if l am wrong l would be interested to know how one can go about it. It would be a fantastic opportunity for sure.

      You can now do articles abroad without an ancestral visa or UK or EU passport. Rules have changed, it’s now possible. You just need to pass the interview and they offer you the job and you can go.

      @@mutsawashemakota3988 Thank you, l was not aware of this new development. This will be very interesting for the profession in SA. l foresee the best and the brightest and or the most ambitious going over to train in the UK. Hopefullly it will encourage SA firms to offer more competitive packages but given the present challenges and the allure of the UK and overseas, l do not see that working too well for them.

      @NtwanieNgomane  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I see your point however regulations have changed since then. None of the black candidates Ive met have ancestral visas. We now able to get a tier 2 workers visa(even for trainees) so thats not an issue anymore, however I appreciate that this is an expensive move especially for recent graduates.

    After doing articles in the UK, won't it be hard to get a job in SA?

    • @bobojo8591
      @bobojo8591 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Highly unlikely, otherwise how would Ntwanie be able to work in the UK or how would people be able to go to other countries, NZ, Aus, Can etc from SA? Accounting and other qualifications can facilitate movement across the world. So it should not be an issue. Technically it may make you 'more' marketable. There is that whole thing about 'first world' experience.
      Furthermore London is one of the top 2 financial centres in the world, l doubt this is a disadvantage in finding work in SA.

    • @NtwanieNgomane
      @NtwanieNgomane  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bobo Jo couldnt have said it better. I dont think it will be hard in fact, it might just be the one thing that opens up opportunities for you.
