Yeah I pushed those two little buttons In and pulled the plastic handle off and I wasnt sure How to reconnect the bar thats In the Middle but as I see on your video it just slides back In! Thanks for the video👍
My tiller handle is on a 2001 Yamaha 9.9 4 Stroke. Its retained by an end screw. Had to use a heat gun to prep the replacement rubber grip (pretty hot) to slip it over the (1 piece) plastic core. Lining it up to the throttle indicator proved to be challenging, but got er' done. Thanks for the video.
Great video I just took mine apart because it felt a little stiff and sprayed it down. But when I watched you turn it at the end that’s about how mine is. Do you know if there’s a stiffness adjustment ?
I will post a video on that hopefully today. The gear that is in the lower motor cover is the vertical control shaft gear. That is held in by the control shaft lever pin. That pin in the middle of the gear lifts out. It is just a pressure fit. Don't break it that part is not available at a lot of part places. Hope this helped.
@@OmFishing I got it figured out. I got this motor with a boat and someone took the grip apart but lost the rollers .. I not knowing what I was doing tore the idle adjustment assembly apart with needle nose trying to remove everything. I got all my pieces in the mail and slapped it back together in 5 min thanks to your video though.. runs like a champ
That handle doesn't have a spring in it I have same motor, how does it spring back without a spring just curious I'm rebuilding my handle/throttle the idle adjustment inside was all broke and getting stuck
Hi sir. My wife and I want to get a boat to do the Bahamas . I may be asking for your opinion soon. If it's ok, I want to run it by you before I give em the doe.
Thanks buddy. You give great videos and knowledge. I have 2 evinrude 15hp from the late 70s 1 -9.9 johnson from the early 70s 1-30hp evinrude from late 80s and 2-25hp Johnsons from the mud 80s. All with minor problems. Got of them running and water ready from watching your videos. The most expensive one I bought was the 30hp and I gave $150 for it. It's the one with the bad tiller handle. Have to get new cables and all new guts for it though.
Great video as usual, I got one question when you insert Idle Stop Switch Assembly does it connect to anything in there or you just place it in there that's a little part that I'm confused on because it does have two little small slits on that end of it I'd appreciate it if you could answer that. Thank you
The stop circuit button are connected to the ignition module through the engine wiring harness. When activated these switches direct the ignition module output to ground. stopping the ignition system. When the clip and lanyard assembly is removed, the emergency stop device is in the stop position. To stop the engine when the clip and lanyard assembly is in place press inward on the assembly until the engine stops. Hope this helped. Stay Safe on the water.

You cured my worry and the grip job went along easy peasy. Now about them Trout. Thanks from Swansboro NC.
Sorry I don't have any words of wisdom for the trout. Good to hear all went well.
Thank you very much for that idle regulator info. I just could not figure it out by looking at the parts exploded view.
I am glad it helped. Thanks for the kind words. Stay Safe my friend.

I did not have one on mine.
Hey could you help me out with something? How do I remove the throttle control plate located under the twist grip? The piece with all the teeth?

@@OmFishing Do you have to disconnect that stop switch somehow before you can pull the grip off?
@@snickermon I did not have to disconnect my stop switch it was after the grip.
