    I have had my Pungo 120 (Red) for over 10 yrs. After getting interrupted by a serious bout with cancer and 7 yr lay off, I am back on the water. I was think about upgrading, but after some research, there is no need. It is a good as I remember and still faster with less effort than my adult son can keep up me in his kayak. The console is great, the seat is awesome and the boat tracks well. Put in 7 miles today, easy paddling on the Little Spokane River. This review is still applicable today.

    235? I'm 275 and rock it all day! Went from their sot to this. Only thing is I'm a spaz getting in when not on shore... some places require you to step in from stairs that go down into the water. She sure does hold a lot of water :P

    • @adrianob.965
      @adrianob.965 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm 275 as well and was worried this wouldn't be enough for me as max capacity is 325, so cutting it close, and I know the pungo 125 holds 425pds, do you sit low int he water, does it affect maneuverability? Thanks

    I bought the Pongo for its stability, which it is great for. Easy to get in and out of. However, two negatives. I am 5’4” and the foot pedals don’t come up far enough to sit with a slight bend to my knees. They are at the closest point they can go. I haven’t seen any way to move the seat closer, either. Also, the removable console is useless to me except as a cup holder. I can’t get the hatch open. It’s not st all like the great back hatch. I went back to the sporting goods store (one with an excellent reputation) where I bought the kayak, and the salesperson was able to open the hatch with great effort. He suggested using olive oil around he rim, which I did after more great effort on dry ground. Didn’t help. When on the water you don’t want to struggle with a hatch. All the reviews I read before purchasing were wonderful, but I am particularly disappointed in not being able to get a comfortable seating position.

      Get sponge blocks and attach them (also 5'4)

      It's stable enough to kneel forward for the hatch carefully that is 😂

    I have 3 of these Pungo 120's. up at the Cabin. When ever we go Paddling with friends, we know we made the right choice spending the extra money. Our experience is day & night better. They always want to trade for a few hours. I just tell them I'm good.

      @@eggomyleggo2483 back in about 2008 I paid $600 each for my first 2 that I bought. $800 for my most recent in 2013. I think they are about $1,000 now.
      Great kayak. I would like to mention my wife had some lady friends at the cabin last week a 57 & 66 year old with zero Kayak experience. They had a successful day on the water. Took to it very easily. I spent about 1 minute Briefing them and they are on their way.

    Keith James Lapere,
    The Pungo series of kayaks from Wilderness Systems are the world's best selling recreational model that was originally designed for leisurely paddling on small, flat-water. Due to its popularity and the rise of kayak fishing, the company made a few tweaks to the series in order to create another line that was geared more towards fishing.
    Is it the best fishing kayak out there? Of course not, but I would argue it's likely one of the best performing 'fishing kayaks' as the sit-in design offers better tracking, speed, and therefore efficiency. However, if you are looking for a fishing kayak that meets you needs, I would suggest looking at the Ride, Tarpon, and Thresher series from Wilderness Systems.
    We carry a full range of kayaks within the Tarpon series and offer the Ride Max Angler 135. We do not stock the Thresher line as they are designed to paddle in large, sea-like conditions which are not found in our area.
    Thanks for you comment, and please do not hesitate to contact us with any other questions or concerns!

    To me, a review is done by someone who takes it out and tells you what REALLY works and what does not, not just selling the unit. Show me on the water what it can and can't do! It really is NOT good for fishing. Fine for lake or day paddle. Not so great for longer trips etc. Nice for novice paddlers. Seat by Old town is much better. Just my 2 cents.

    Why publish a review of a kayak from six years ago, one that has already been replaced by a much newer and great model.

    • @CoryDavis-CBD
      @CoryDavis-CBD 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Robert,
      This video was published six years ago, not recently.
      You're correct, however, it does need to be updated to showcase the new features (upgraded seat, dashboard, and bow bungee configuration). That said, the design of the Pungo 120 has not changed since this video - while the features have altered a tad, the hull shape and specs have remained true to the original, ever-popular design.
      Thanks for your comment, and stay tuned for the new video review coming soon!

    sucks for a fishing kayak,no place to put a milk crate or pail why would ya put two screw ball mounts on?,more for a track sys. which you cannot mount on a sink,should of been more flush mount rod holders,square hatch in the bow or shape of the bow.The round hatch is too far to reach same with the stern. Us fisherman like things within reach.Should of designed it better for a fishing yak also.To me this is just a touring yak.

      The Pungo 120 is not a fishing kayak. The Pungo 120 is a recreational paddling kayak. Got it now?

      I fish out of my 140. Have to be creative about rod management. Gotta hobie rod holder for the side of the deck. Love it but then again I only like one or 2 rods and minimal lures. All my stuff can go in a watertight box. I much prefer the speed over my Ride

    • @johnnyrailroad6921
      @johnnyrailroad6921 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is NOT, a fishing kayak. How you arrived at that idea, one can never understand. No one stated it is a fishing kayak. If you know kayaks, you know it is not a fishing kayak. It's a recreational kayak.

    • @terpanther

      Carry six rods in a milk crate and someone with one rod who knows what they are doing will smoke you fishing every time. Never understood anyone carrying a rack full or rods on a kayak.
