VN24 - Truck in the ditch - Kollmer rescues suction truck with telescopic crane

- VN24 - 18-04-2023 (D/M/Y) - Holzwickede / Germany - At around 11:30 a.m., the driver of a so-called tank suction truck came across a truck on the country road he was driving northbound, which apparently made good use of the road width. The driver of the suction truck therefore had to swerve so far to the right that his wheels ended up on the unpaved shoulder next to the road. Here the wheels sank in and the driver, with the presence of mind, did not steer back onto the road, which would inevitably have overturned the truck, but saved the expensive special vehicle by driving completely alongside the roadway. He was uninjured in the process. The recovery contractors Kollmer and Bracht were able to lift the nearly undamaged truck back onto the paved road surface by using a crane. The accident resulted only in a dent to the tank and a bent telephone pole. The oncoming truck fled the scene of the accident.

It seems that it would have been simpler to just winch the truck back out the way it went in, but perhaps the shoulder is steeper than it appeared.

"A" is the indicator for "Abfall" (waste) in Germany for the load of the truck.

Safety sign for vehicles carrying diesel or heating oils. I had incorrectly stated that the total vehicle weight could be up to 30 tonnes.
Nein, das ist ein Saug-, bzw. Spülwagen, für die Reinigung und Restentleerung (Ablagerungen & Absetzungen) von Tanks.
Die UN-Nummer steht für Diesel/Heizöl und nicht für Benzin.
Welcher er nur in Resten und mit der Spülflüssigkeit vermischt an Bord hat.
Also nicht in Reinform, solange dies nicht irgendwo Notfallmäßig abgepumpt werden muss.
Auch liegt das Tankvolumen, nicht bei 30 Tonnen, sondern eher so bei 10 bis 12 Tonnen (wenn überhaupt).
Denn der Gesamtgewicht dieses Fahrzeuges, wird bei ca 24 Tonnen liegen.
Also kein Tanker mit 30 Tonnen Benzin, sondern ein Saug- / Spülwagen, mit um die 10 Tonnen Spülflüssigkeit (wenn ausgeladen), welche mit Diesel, Heizöl oder anderen Ölresten vermischt ist.
It's the Hazard Identification Number along with the so called UN-Number. The 30 stands for flammable liquids with a flash-point between 23 and 60 degrees Celsius. The 1202 stands for diesel-fuel or heating-oil.
@Brand-Konto I reviewed available information and found there are two classes of substance using 1202: Heating oil (by trucks) and crude oil (usually on large rail tankers) so I was partially incorrect. However, trucks used to deliver diesel fuels for motor vehicles are placarded 1993 for some unknown reasons in the United States. Thus the reason for my earlier statements.
I thought 30 was the total weight of the vehicle in tonnes including maximum cargo, but after reviewing online documentation I was incorrect and withdraw that statement.

This exact company had a rotator some years ago, but it was said that it never paid off. It's always cheaper to hire a mobile crane for an hour or two in Germany.
