The audience wasn't the problem. It was the network. They wanted to be in the Richard Pryor business without fully understanding the Richard Pryor business, so they tried to tame him, and he wanted out of his contract.

This show didn't last very long but my dad always talked about it. He saw the original episodes when they aired. This is actually pretty funny and it gets better as it goes on.
Yeah those four episodes made mainstream America very uncomfortable. One memorable episode ended when they discovered a tomb with writings, astrology signs, math and he realized the authors were Black! The episode closed with 'fade to black' and a suprised look on Pryors face as his fellow explorers quickly sealed up the tomb!
Richard Pryor is truly one of the greatest comedians EVER!!!!!! This is a truly wonderful sketch, both in the writing and delivery. My advice to anyone interested in comedy, go get some Richard Pryor, absolute genius! ⭐️

There are a good number of great comedians like Jack Benny, Melton Berle, Red Buttons, Foster Brooks, Don Rickles, Greg Geraldo, Jeff Ross and ten times more just for starters. But the funniest of all in my opinion, the best comedy writer, best actor in comedy, best director of comedy and sweetest guy despite tremendous problems is Richard Pryor. Of all the wonderful and dead comedians including Gilbert Godfrey, I'd bring back Pryor to life first. I love Pryor's bold perspective of comedy and his guts to do it.
