This is my favorite SNL show from over 40 years ago. Richard Pryor was a comedic tour de force on that show that night. My favorite skit was the word association skit Pryor did with Chevy Chase that had you had laughing your butt off, it was that magical.
I can’t believe it’s 42 years old... oops, wait a minute you left your comment a year ago so it’s 43 years old!! Richard Pryor was an absolute comedic genius. I always heard everyone praising him and I‘ve seen little bits and pieces on TH-cam ... A few weeks back I watched a full Richard Pryor stand up gig on Netflix ( I think it’s from the mid70s ; possibly between 1975 and 1979 )... He was/is incredible !! It was amazing inspiring to see him in his prime what a fast mind he had! so incredibly funny and this was a concert that was taped, so it was awe-inspiring to see him adapt his routine to whatever was going on in the audience! I mean we’re talking somebody with the ability to alter what they had planned to say in milliseconds. None of his jokes were dated, everything he said was as true now as it was then.. watch it if you get time... I really was laughing so hard that I was crying. (People say that a lot and we even have emojis for that nowadays ,but we all know that level of laughing is rare. Well you watch this Richard Pryor special you will be laughing so hard you’ll have tears rolling down your face for real! Now I understand why today’s comedians all mention Richard Pryor as the person they hope to emulate. The man truly was a genius!!
I just about died laughing while watching Ozzy Osbourne in their series "Ozzy and Jack's World Detour." When they visited the notorious Hitchcock Steps filming location used in The Exorcist, they cracked several jokes about the movie -- and then, just before they fade out to a commercial, you can hear Ozzy recite in a singsong voice, "Your mother sews socks that smell."
The first priest was played by the late Thalmus Rasulala (Yes. That's his name. Look him up!) He had a great career from theater to movies. He was in Str Trek:TNG as well.
Thank you, I was trying to place him. He's one of those actors you recognize instantly and realize you've seen in a lot of roles, feel bad that you don't know their name but feel good that they worked so much.
He was last seen in General Hospital in the 90's as the Aboriginal shaman friend of Robert and Mac Scorpio (he had attended Robert's wedding to Anna Devane)
b133le If It weren't for actors likeThalmus 2day wouldn't have had a chance. Because most of them can't act. He was 1 of the most UNDERRATED actors of ALL-TIME. 1 of his 1st gigs was the Twilight Zone...

I agree with another post....42 years old SNL skit, and still funnier than the present day SNL.
You and I are funnier than that bullshit.
Old SNL was miles better than this shit today
I just about died laughing while watching Ozzy Osbourne in their series "Ozzy and Jack's World Detour." When they visited the notorious Hitchcock Steps filming location used in The Exorcist, they cracked several jokes about the movie -- and then, just before they fade out to a commercial, you can hear Ozzy recite in a singsong voice, "Your mother sews socks that smell."
The only reason I watched this is Richard Pryor is in it
Hey Kevin Hart pay attention to the real King. King Pryor
That old coke head, homosexual wouldn’t make a pimple on keven Hart’s ass.
@@theone8308 Lmao @ comparing Kevin Hart to Richard Pryor. That's like comparing Ron Harper to Michael Jordan.
Hart couldn't measure up to Richard Pryor's left testicle!!
Surely,Kevin Hart would not be who he is now if Pryor didn't exist...fact!
Why even compare?! Why can’t we enjoy both?!
Every time somebody tells me they need to rest, Pryor's delivery of "You must REST?!" pops into my mind.
It doesnt get any better than Richard Pryor!
Yes it does, it’s called Eddie Murphy
Classic SNL. "Father, where is your faith?" "It is out in the car. I am going to get it." LMAO
This is probably one of the funniest skits they've ever had very well done. Back when they had the original cast on Saturday Night Live was funny
The first priest was played by the late Thalmus Rasulala (Yes. That's his name. Look him up!) He had a great career from theater to movies. He was in Str Trek:TNG as well.
Thank you, I was trying to place him. He's one of those actors you recognize instantly and realize you've seen in a lot of roles, feel bad that you don't know their name but feel good that they worked so much.
b133le And the captain in New Jack city!!
He was a great actor
He was last seen in General Hospital in the 90's as the Aboriginal shaman friend of Robert and Mac Scorpio (he had attended Robert's wedding to Anna Devane)
b133le If It weren't for actors likeThalmus 2day wouldn't have had a chance. Because most of them can't act. He was 1 of the most UNDERRATED actors of ALL-TIME. 1 of his 1st gigs was the Twilight Zone...
45 years later still one of the funniest SNL sketches ever
I'm 64 y/o and I saw this LIVE on SNL the nite Pryor hosted it. It was funny asf then as it is NOW bc I hv tears from all the laughing I just did 😂. Haven't seen this in DECADES. Long live TH-cam!
How can a skit with "jive Turkey" in it....not be classic!!
That was when SNL was funny that skit with Richard Pryor was great now SNL sorry to say there just out right STUPID,no interest in it at all for the last 10 years not funny at all Alec Baldwin is a complete idiot.
"Where's your faith father?", "It's in the car, I'm gonna go get it"!! Lolololol. I love Richard Pryor, gosh, I was watching him when I was a little kid too. Red Fox, Carlin, SNL, I have always loved to laugh better than anything, it's actually one of the best ways to learn and heal. There are just so many incredible comedic geniuses that I adore for those reasons.
When Pryor says "Say what" like a brotha from the corner, I LOST it!
When Richard Pryor, John Belushi, Chris Farley, John Candy, Gilda Radner passed away , so did SNL.
@@imback3200 After these comedians died, yeah, they all became lean years.SNL isn't funny anymore like it was.
You forgot Phil Hartman
John Candy was SCTV.. not SNL.
4 gauge ....agreed!😶
@@4gauge10 you are so right! The SNL now is absolutely Silly, & NOT funny at all!!
When she gave him the pea soup in the face and said SUCKER... I lost it.
KillerBebe best skit ever
She’s says Jive Turkey
Same here...
"Did you do that, little girl?"
"LA LA LA LA LA LA ehhhhhhh."

These 1975 skits are better then 2023-24 skits any day.
3:45 - 😂 . Was just telling my mom last night how my sweet son will snap in 2 seconds if anyone "talks about his momma". Lol. I replayed several times, this is classic. "Say what". Lol lol lol
