Exactly! I watched over 20 self-help videos .I bought my soundproof panels from Amazon to do my box, 2 fans push / pull & 2 - 8" x 8" vents. Box runs around 180 degrees & muffler at 350 degrees. Overkill maybe but work's & I only had to buy this stuff once with nothing left over.

Thanks for the instructions. The extra muffler probably won't change the noise level much because a lot of the noise you hear comes from the engine itself. That's why truly quiet generators tend to come in a housing with sound insulation in the walls.

⚠️very important announcements about portable generator safety:
This is just a reminder. We always need to make sure we’re aware of the electrical safety of using generators.
      1) KEEPING OTHERS SAFE: Please do not allow an unqualified person or your children to operate and service the portable generator. Just because some manuals don’t say that doesn’t mean it’s safe. That is important against the generator safety rules. We also need to be keeping an eye on our children too. You need to make sure that your children are not playing near the portable generator especially when it’s running so they won’t get electrocuted. Generators pose electrical risks and they can be hot during an operation. Please keep your children away from the portable generator at all times. It is important to keep our children safe especially our little ones. Be aware of all the hazards.
      2) WHERE TO RUN YOUR GENERATOR: Some people use their portable generators indoors which increases the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. It’s important to have a carbon monoxide if you have a gas generator. Never ever use your generator indoors even if your doors and windows are open and even in the garage is not safe to use a portable generator. Not even at your porch and your deck. It is never safe to use your generator indoors and in enclosed areas of your home. Your generator needs to be 15-20 feet away from your house.
3)🔥FIRE HAZARDS: Never refuel your generator while it’s running. You need to let your generator cool off before refueling it and before storing your generator. Never overload your generator too. Never ever back feed your generator. You should never plug your generator into a wall outlet. Also never store propane tanks indoors. Please keep flammable things away from the generator as well and please don’t smoke cigarettes near the generator. Having a fire extinguisher next to the generator is also important against the generator safety rules.
      4) GENERATOR OPERATION: make sure your hands are dry before touching the generator. Never use your generator in wet conditions. Don’t let your generator get wet. You need a generator tent if you need to use your generator during wet weather. Please don’t wear loose clothes when operating the generator. Turn on your generator before plugging in appliances. Use the right cord for your generator. Please do not use worn out cords.

A few cautions before you buy something like this. The flexible pipe will slow down the flow of the exhaust. A good friend and welder told me it should be straight pipe like a car. Depending your generator brand this exhaust pipe maybe to small. The bigger more power generators like Doromax have bigger exhaust systems. Well now I have something to send back. O before I forget, you should order 2" 50FT LAVA TITANIUM BASALT EXHAUST WRAP. Another TH-cam video I watched highly recommended it and my trust worthy friend I asked said that was a good idea. He as well uses the same exhaust rap.

I ran 1' instead of 3/4" at 10 feet to reduce any back pressure. 10 years & all is fine.

Hi! Easy job! Now we have been waiting all the time to see if you "show" the difference between the original exhaust and your modification...

When I got my new hose I simply took it to the car wash & shot hot soapy water through it inside & out. Ive heard of people using brake cleaner too then dipping into hot soapy water submerged in a 5 gallon bucket overnight then rinse. After all, its stainless steel. I ran 10 foot at 1" piping so as to prevent back pressure.

The extra muffler won’t make the machine any quieter. First off it’s a stupid cheap “MUFFLER” technically it’s it doesn’t fall under the definition of a muffler. 2nd, your noise doesn’t come from the exhaust. Not at all. It’s loud because of the engine noise. Plain an simple. If you want it quiet, build, buy, have someone build a box for it with dyno mat or fireproof insulation sheets. Sides and top, cut multiple holes with rubber grommets to run your wires through, but a hole for a square 10x10 or 12x12 attic fan that you install to pull the HOT AIR OUT!! Then another hole at the opposite end with a decent size vent so outside air can be pulled in and the fan pulls the cool air in and hot air out!!! Etc etc etc there’s more but that the just of it.
In a side note the exhaust hose (minister the muffler) drill another hole and run it AWAY from the box or some metal flashing and c clamps and run it upward and bend the top away from the home

I went all over town looking for a pipe to fit the stinger.i read the diameter was 7/8 and 15/16 could not find anything to fit tight. Went to ace hardware wilco coastal and a pipe pump company.looks like brass fittings are the winner for size ...were do I buy the flex pipe you show in your video.?

Can I do this to the Westinghouse WGen5300DFcv 5300-Watt Dual Fuel generator. I havent gotten it yet so not sure if I can get an adapter plate or find a flex line that will fit over end like in this video. Ahy one any thoughts or experience.

How did you bend the tube to fit the exhaust? I have a exhaust that is exactly 1 in and a tube that's 1in but they only make 1 1/8in expanders

    • @Etzki1
      @Etzki1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Yeah it's good I'm feel heat of exhaust comes into play and burns it away. You have no idea how hot exhaust pipe gets. Any oil will burn off. You would have to go to AutoZone and get yourself paint that withstands over thousand degrees

    • @Etzki1

Yes it's very good. In this particular case it's unnecessary because this is stainless steel

Caution. Harbor Freight does not recommend using anything like this due to Back pressure created due to length and diameter of hose.

This pipe is a little to large diameter. When you put ring on it and screw it tight it will bent ( crimp ) a little and seal.
