    Considering that some high current loads could be active at the time of disconnect, I would flip the generator input breaker at the panel first instead of at the generator. Why? Because opening a circuit with high current flow will cause an arc and the breaker in the panel is more durable than the ones they installed in the generator. It is also easier to replace on failure.

    Great video! Keep in mind, that genny puts out a high THD. Be careful powering sensitive electronics, which is just about everything today. The Westinghouse WGEN115000TFC has a bit more power output, is TriFuel and the most important feature is a THD less than 5%.

      I keep reading statements like this everywhere but I also keep hearing that it’s not a big deal and people have been using regular generators for decades with no problem. Even the power company has a much larger total harmonic distortion than 5%. I’m still shopping around d myself and don’t claim to be an expert

    Pretty sweet setup! One question though, why do you have your panel outside the house and not in the shop? Worst case situation: Someone could roll up and shut the entire house down from outside.

      Thank you! I have that panel outside, a 200a sub panel in the shop, and a 125a sub panel in the living area. Most houses have a main disconnect at the service panel outside like mine. It’s pretty crazy but yes, a lot of people could have their entire house shut down from the outside!

    Beautiful home and great idea. I did the same thing on my house a couple years ago. Is there a reason you used 8 GA versus 6 GA? 8 GA is rated for 40 amps whereas 6 GA is 55A. Typically use 6 GA wire for 50A breakers. By code around here you’d have to swap out the 50A breaker for a 40 since the wire couldn’t handle the 50A. Just wanted to make sure you knew that. Cheers!

    • @Create208
      @Create208  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you! Wire size depends on a few factors, if you are using a romex or cable you would size off the 60 degree chart but because I’m using THHN wiring it’s rated for the 75 or 90 degree chart. 75 degree chart for #8 is rated for 50a and 90 degree chart is rated for 55a. But that’s why the premade cable had to be #6 wiring. because the 60 degree chart. Hope that makes sense!

      @@timnevitt2993 well dirty power does not hurt electronics as most electronics have filters on their input power supply.
      Next its the voltage spikes that hurt the electronics.
      Most electronics use 105-240V so any voltage in that area is safe, if the voltage goes above 240V, thats when you have an issue.
      Next most name brand generators might have "dirty" power but they clean up once they go under load. They are only "dirty" when on idle and no load because there is no reason to be clean with no load.
      Next a guy here on TH-cam did show a champion generator and showed the "dirty" sinewave under idle but when he put a load on it, it cleaned up a lot.
