I recommended Lupe Fiasco a while back because I know you're a English teacher. You'll love his mastery of literary device.

@@ReactionsToTheClassics just a heads up, the songs that are popular to do reactions to aren't necessarily the ones with the mastery despite still being well written. Perhaps do "Failure" or "Dumb it Down"

"bad boy street team, I couldn't work the lox" - the lox is a legendary hip hop group that use to be signed to bad boy and ruff Ryder's.
Also you guys reacted to "everything I'm not", the sing right after that on the album is "the glory" and it's fire too. React to it!! You won't be disappointed

Love this. Can't decied whether it's because of Kanye's lyrics or the absolute classic sample of Curtis Mayfield's move on up.

Late Registration is Kanye’s expression of where his ambition could go. So good.

Awesome reaction! I think you guys would really come to love Late Registration as production wise this is the peak of Kanye's classic production style, i.e use of samples combined with some very effective use of multiple layered instruments, the latter of which is probably due to the collaboration with Jon Brion. His lyrics and delivery also got much better. There is not one single weak song in there in my opinion.

Shawn and Gina, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think it is a cool little song. You are right Shawn, it does have good instrumentation and horns. The lyrics tell a story. You both have good insight into the meaning. Shawn, you mentioned Newark, N.J. I live right near there. Gina, you said Kanye says Jesus is King. Is he a Christian ? I admit Kanye West is a unique personality. If I remember correctly, I read that he ran for President a few months ago and got many thousands of votes.

It is cool you live near there! Kanye came out with an album in late 2019 called Jesus is King, it is a Gospel album and it is tremendous. So well done, he then went on a "preaching" tour and performed many Sunday services. Now he claims to be a Christian, but that said you and I both know that doesn't mean it is so even if he believes it if he believes a false Gospel. But we also know only God can truly know a man's heart so it is for sure possible. Kanye has been very transparent about his struggle with Bipolar Disorder and many times when he has had outrageous behavior he has admitted he was off his meds. I am not here to defend his conduct but I also understand he has things that he is battling. Thanks Poet!

@@ReactionsToTheClassics Shawn, Thank you for clearing that up. I did not know Kanye recorded a Gospel album. Then he went on a preaching tour ? It could be that he is a Christian, but like you said, only God knows a person's heart. Yes, I remember hearing about his bipolar disorder. He has struggled with a lot of issues. I'm sure it wasn't easy for him to be married to Kim Kardashion. Lol Thank you for your deep comment
