That’s the thing about Kanye, you can be a huge hip hop head or not listen to much rap and still enjoy at least one Ye album. What’s your favorite genre right now?
About how Kanye voice is mixed. The album is about his relationship with fame. It begins with the highs, and then what can be lossed through fame, and the negative impact of the nature of celebrity, and being in the limelight. Essentially how it can leave you lost in the world, in the chase to pursue it. Getting back to the song. At this point in the album. He is climbing back to the top, and fame to him is framed in a positive light. His voice sounding the way it is, highlights him being up on high, and climbing up to the top, so sounds distant. He set out to make a masterpiece. And was a perfectionist, the stylistic choices are fully intentional. Given how things were at the time, he put everything into making an album, that could become a classic. And he succeeded.
3:15 you gained my respect and subscribed. People really do dismiss (real) Hip Hop and it’s sad, so much talent. Lyrically don’t know another genre that focuses on storytelling, metaphors, similes, double and triple entendres, personifications, puns, etc. as much as hip hop does. You guys are dope and I can tell you authentically have an appreciation for music no matter the genre. New fan keep up the good work💯
Thanks Slick really appreciate it and there is NO genre nowadays that brings true social issues to the table over and over like Hip Hop. It saddens me that those who loved Dylan all those years ago dismiss the one genre doing what he did. Stay safe!
Kanye is the misunderstood greatest artist of the 21st century in the world. He’s light years ahead in time. The only artist who can write, create and produce music at the same time. The only one bold enough to speak the truth, unlike some celebrities. Always giving us a masterpiece Albums 🔥. Please check out all his discography. He is the most decorated artist.
React to Kanye West - Runaway. There is a lot to analyze from this song. The lyrics, harmony, beat, emotion. Best kanye west song ever made. Seriously, it is his best song.
it’s honestly rare to see people react to kanye who isn’t an avid listener and have an open mind about it. yall did great, earned a subscriber from me for sure mainly cause the stuff that he has said in the past has made it hard for new people to like his music. but yall did a great job ! also if yall haven’t, i would love to see yall react to some nirvana or weezer
You need to do a reaction to kanye west devil a new dress This song is a perfect song And since you are a rock fan you would like it spacilly the guitar solo 🤔
Penitentiary chances, the devil dances And eventually answers to the call of Autumn All of them fallin' for the love of ballin' Got caught with 30 rocks, the cop look like Alec Baldwin Inter-century anthems based off inner-city tantrums -kanye these are by far my favorite lyrics of all time
Great job! First time reactions to Kanye West music are endlessly interesting. If you're curious to dig deeper, I would recommend Blood on the Leaves, Runaway, Hurricane, Life of the Party, Come to Life, to name a few. The music videos for Runaway and Come to Life, if you're interested, will give you another view into the breadth of his artistic expression.
Ths song has an upbeat rhythm. The lyrics are about the realities of life, but Kanye West uses a lot of foul language to express himself. Shawn, you and your wife did a very good job explaining what the song is about. You get into a detailed commentary You both are right that hip hop is relevant, but it doesn't mean it's appealing. My opinion.
Yes for sure hip hop isnt for everyone. My main point always is that a lot of times older people write off Hip Hop as thug music and don't take the time to understand that lyrics oftentimes are very very intricate. Thanks Poet!
@@ReactionsToTheClassics I understand what you mean and yes, you are correct, I thought of Hip Hop being thug music like you said. By watching your videos I realize what you say that there is a message in their lyrics. I'm just not a fan of the foul language.
@Sive Mdlalose I understand what you mean by words have context and has meaning or maybe doesn't mean anything. Your statement is deep. Yes, language is a form of expression, and hip hop represents the black community..
Hiphop just a euphemisms for a new religion. Soul music of the slaves that the youth is missing but this is more than my road to redemption Malcolm west got the whole world standing at attention 🔥 🔥
Real quick note of the “losing the fame” thing. This album came out after the Kanye vs. Taylor Swift moment at the Grammys. Kanye was being crucified by the media and the perception of him was declining. Partially the reason for the self exile. This whole album was essentially Kanye’s “you can’t cancel me, I’m too great” response to that time period
Black balls is my favourite Kanye lyric of all time

The mention of Jerome is a reference to Jerome of The musical group The Time. Jerome’s main function was to hold the mirror for Morris Day on stage.
Thanks for the insight. I remember them well
I absolutely appreciate what you said about not dismissing hip hop and understanding lyrics likening it to Bob Dylan... I need to hear more Dylan.
