The KLX 300 is an excellent, low and easily maintained dependable motorcycle for your journey. Well done. Should you want a little more pep, consider swapping the front sprocket from a 14 to a 13. People seem quick to offer advice on how to “fix” your bike. Yes some bikes and tires are better suited to different styles and conditions but the reality is your bike is perfectly capable of handling that terrain. It’s your lack of skill and inexperienced mindset not the bike. I’ve seen people from the Asia Pacific through the Middle East on scooters and 125cc with bald road tires, overladen and with pillions negotiate horrendously technical terrain due to their skill and experience. Don’t blame the bike or the tires. People on here seem very quick to think the best way to make up for lack of skill is to start modifying their bike vs actually training. Loving your film work and your tenacity.
Hello Eric, a big hello from New Zealand, motorbikes are in my blood i ride a bunch of them and e-bikes (30.000km) i have been riding 55years on the road (700,000km) every time you get on your bike it's a new adventure for you and a learning curve and you are learning new stuff about motorbikes and riding every day i am going to watch the whole series and i wish you well on your travels.
I have a 2007 KLX 250. I ended up changing the radio on the sprockets to give me lower gearing. Of course, that makes it even slower on roads but it performs much better on rocky, mountain trails. An issue I ran into, to accommodate a larger rear sprocket I ended up having to move the chain guide forward and I was no longer able to use the chain guard. The front sprocket can be reduced a tooth for a modest gear reduction without the modifications.
Canada is nothing if not beautiful...what an adventure you're on! I have to admit, I miss your and Yuka's mtb videos, yet life is about change. I wasn't sure I would enjoy this series, but I am. You're a great storyteller and the cinematography is breathtaking. When you guys did the Africa mtb trip, I realized you had a very special skill in making long form videos like this. Great stuff...
Eric, you have a lot of skill balance and confidence from your mtb riding previously. That you would dare a round the world trip just a few days after getting your 1st bike with next to no m/c experience is absolutely awesome. It looks to be that you got stuck between some rocks on that road. Your front can dig in or move or your stopping can be just behind 1 rock with just enough climb that combined with the uphill and small motor, will stall the bike. Same with the rear, or both tires even. I didn't see you check where your tires were, when you get stuck lean your head and check your tire position. Being tired also makes it easy to think time to turn around. Thirty years ago I rode with a much younger guy who pushed me to keep going, he got continous enjoyment out of watching me struggle but also knowing I was improving my skills and more importantly my confidence level. Once, stuck on a hillside in the snow/wet mud, I simply gave up after 5 attempts to get the bike to climb that (then tough, now easy) hill. I said go home and bring the truck, I'm done. Well, I gave it one more shot and bulled my way to the top totally exhausted sweaty worn out and smiling like a kid. You're learning OJT style, on the job training. That's hard and you should be proud of yourself. Keep sweating, keep smiling and keep posting. We'll all be watching and admiring.
As someone else mentioned, gearing it down a tooth up front might reduce the amount of stalls you're having and help in te lower speed stuff, but also be more responsive when you do get on the throttle. Thats a small engine, and all the extra weight is sure to be having an effect on torque/throttle response. Possibly increase clutch life too! Massive kudos for what you have taken on. I'll be following right to the end. Looking forward to you hitting Australia🤘🤘
Solo rides in remote locations can get sketchy. More often than not, slow and timid approaches work less than medium speed with an attack body position. The gyroscopic effect of the tires for balance only kicks in at curtain speeds. It's scary but once you commit you morec likely than not make it through
Another GREAT video Eric! Man, that Kawasaki of yours sure takes a beating and keeps on ticking. Really love your channel and always looking forward to seeing the next episode… 2 thumbs up! 👍🏻👍🏻
Good to see your learning that unlike mountain biking going up is so much more fun than going down. You can push it a lot more as well because when things go wrong you can just chop the throttle and everything slows down really fast. Going down you have that nasty thing called momentum going against you. When you need to turn around in a tight spot look for any rise in terrain to the side of the trail. Use this to work smarter not harder. Ride your front wheel up the feature as far as you can. Pull in clutch and turn bars to initiate your direction change. Rinse and repeat until you get the bike turned around. Can take 10+ times if tight to get turned around but no effort used.
Beautiful place to explore. Really enjoyed the shot of the top looking past the peak and out toward the lakes and mountains in the background... Really appreciate the places like that which are truly wild.
Love watching your journey Eric! By my guesstimate you're about 6 months ahead of your videos. How long does it take to edit each one? Can't wait to see the rest of your adventure!
Thanks so much Brendan! 🙏 My goal is to get the edits done in 2 days, but it ends up being more like 3 if I’m being honest. (Which is still pretty quick)
The little bike that said: "I think I can, I think I can," .As always on this adventure---great video and narration! The great technicial terms are always welcome!!! LOL!
The mountains and nature is so epic, what a beautiful place to ride. Nature is the only therapy anyone could ever need to recalibrate and rejuvenate the spirit 👌✌
Fascinating to see you hesitant to stand - and that would make a huge difference on most of this off-road travel. You'd never hesitate to stand on an MTB, but you get all the same benefits on a moto. I know this was filmed in the summer. I'm curious to see your skills now!
Eric what an amazing adventure. I have been watching since the beginning of your ride and seems I know you!!!! Please be careful many dangers in an unforgiving land. Keep going and God bless
Man, I'm blowing though these videos way too fast ! Just about to have to wait for each release. Oh and I feel like your practice in the sand really helped you there, you seemed much more comfortable in this type of terrain than before
Ok, been watching on the tv since you left.. For a new rider, your doing very well. Leveling up very quickly. The editing and music is top notch. The music and plateau leading up to mountain had a very Skyrim vibe. Mixing camping and hotels is a great habit, keeps your travel flexible. I've only been to Van Isle but went through northern states to get there, and darted on and off hwy 3 back to Ontario. That mountain looks like Montana. The bear tooth pass has all kinds of those trails that eventually turn into horse trails. Your going to love Washington, Montana, Wyoming. We live on a continent that provides multiple life times of adventure✌ Loose section like those rocks, you can sometimes get away with getting off the bike and just feathering the controls. It's a little trickier up hill but also works in snow and sand and mud. And an enduro technique is to bounce the rear suspension by loading your weight back and throttling as suspension rebounds, like a wheely but less braap. All the best dude🤙
Great video Eric, scintillating and entertaining! Your cinematography is of a high quality. 25k subscribers and its only episode 20, you gotta be happy with that right? Keep going Eric, we are along for the ride!
Eric, it has been so awesome to watch you progress your riding skills over the course of this trip so far. The Yukon is quite amazing and I love how you take the time and stop to look at and explore the mining remnants. This is exactly the type of thing I’d do. I really appreciate your work and am inspired to follow in your footsteps albeit at a much small scale but equally exciting adventure. Thank you again!
Ciao Eric, a simple tip that can help you: Consider changing the tires with a couple more suitable for off-road , and change the front sprocket by putting one with 1 less tooth. Good luck from ITALY !!
A couple of riding tips for you: I notice you get a lot of false neutrals. Adjust the height of the gear lever, if you are having trouble getting your boot under it, adjust it higher. Otherwise drop it down a bit so you don't have to move the lever so far to get into 2nd gear. If you still have the original Kawasaki delivery oil in the engine (hopefully not), changing to fresh oil may help a bit too. Lower tire pressures would have helped a lot on the rocks in this video. I would have tried 18 psi. Thanks for the videos.
It don’t matter to me if you make it around the world or not.. just watching you gain riding experience and learn what you and your bike are capable of is entertaining enough! Keep riding and exploring most of all keep having fun!
Eric get more of an off-road tires it will make life easier this bike has no problem I’m so excited for you and this trip ❤❤❤😊😊 I’m always looking forward to your next adventure
Respect! Learning "on the job" ,so to say, takes some courage. Great footage, esp. around 17:00. Itchy Boots will be proud to know that she inspired you to endeavor on this adventure. Once/if you make it to Bangkok I will buy you a beer and you can stay for a few nights. But I guess that will still take a while... You have a new subscriber. Stay safe & good luck!

As well as the fun you are having Once again thanks for taking us on this journey with you. Ps I’m so jealous 😂
Yay!!! Congratulations Eric!!! I don't know if you noticed but its time for a bit of a celebration...You've hit 25K subscribers.... Super Awesome and I'm really happy for you. I've been watching your journey since the first video and I'm super glad that's its going so well. Keep up the good work. And be sure to post a celebratory video with at least 25 candles on a cupcake! Lol. Hope to see you riding through Ontario in the spring.
@Una_Moto Never fear, everyone loves your videos and loves the fact that you are so down to earth. It's awesome to see you, a fellow Canadian, taking this journey. I don't know if you see it this way, but you are a bit of an ambassador. And we are all living vicariously through your journey. Im sure I'm not the only one who can't wait for the next video. Feel free to touch base if you ever need anything, (especially if you hit Ontario, cool routes, landmarks, points of interest ect.) I'd ride with you any day!
The landscapes you are revealing to us are incredible. So many lakes! I've never seen anything like that here in Australia. And like Australia, Canada is an ancient land with an ancient culture, not a new land with only a recent history.
I’ve ridden motorcycles since the 70’s in Alaska and I do know that the trails are way more rocky today because the 4 wheelers really tear up the old trails. Still fun tho! Also, purple glass means pre about 1915.
Great videos. love the drone views. You are really doing well. Your skill in sand and water is just fine. You chose the right motorcycle. No need to change anything. Looking forward to watch more. Try to turn the bike around on your kickstand. Good luck.
Thanks again! Having my coffee and watching your videos has become a staple these past couple weeks. I was always excited to see the BCPOV videos but this is different. There's a vicarious satisfaction in what you're doing. And please remain careful with the drone as its shots are some of my favorite 🤣 Safe travels my man! Oh! And on a side note thank you for turning me on to Narali, she's great! ItchyBoots! What a channel name! 😂😂😂
Every time the drone is taking those expansive mountain shots, I can't help but wonder how much money it would cost to accomplish the same result 10-15 years ago. The follow cams are so cool to see!
Epic Eric!! Be safe out there. I've had my license about the same time as you and can't believe the terrain you are tackling. Maybe you're Mountain Biking experience counts for something. Amazing journey you're taking us on with you.
Careful of all that clutch slipping or you may find yourself in real trouble at a bad spot. I guess you will eventually get to know when to say far enough is better than the consequences. Great views of the rugged landscape and don't get eaten by a bear.
Eric, some Epic progress since you entered the Yukon. I must admit that the mountain road with the thousands of baby head boulders was looking pretty treacherous ans well as being exhausting work for any rider. Good decision to backtrack as I suspect it was not going to get any easier. Are you still on that worn rear tire, not even sure I would have attempted it. I bet it is good to get on some great places to camp and settle down, relax and enjoy the wilderness. Keep going mate, really starting to get engaged with your journey.
As always on this adventure---great video and narration! Don’t burn the clutch out or kill the bike or damage yourself, only another 11000 miles or more give or take to New Zealand so dig deep and go fare and were with you all the way.
Love watching you. You have alot of supporters. What i love most is right now my father sent me to the States and Canada for a year before Uni, and i am remembering so much from your videos. But the most i love, are your detours. Its not just A to B. So much respect to you. I ride and yes, respect❤
wonderful video fella, what a remarkable place that mountain range was 🙂 advice: you need to learn about holding momentum on these rocky climbs or knowing when to say enough, or even unloading the bike and doing the climbs to make it easier on you and ultimately the bike - you are getting yourself out there in the nowhere and if you burn the clutch out it's going to be a long f'in hard couple of days getting out on foot and then figuring out how to get the bike out afterwards....The sand, this climb, i can smell the clutch from across the atlantic - take care man and keep exploring, loving this journey of yours and i am seeing your sub count very fast so it's obvious that many others are watching too, the rewards are heading your way - stay brave 🙂
Eric, great videos, drone shots are amazing. I'd suggest looking into doing kickstand pivots to help with your turnarounds in tight situations, the KLX's kickstand is more than strong enough. Good luck in your travels.
Yeah I was wondering if you have ever tried this on the KLX... It works for big 500lb plus machines and would seem to be an easier was to turn around vs dragging on the ground. Great videos Eric!!!!
Great video once again! You're becoming my favourite channel for motorcycle travel! I find your videos better than itchy boots as the places you are I can drive my bike to also! Keep up the good work!
This is better than a Netflix series. Waiting for the next episode. Send my regards to Wilson. You both are doing a very very good job, amazing views, nice music and comments. Take care and keep going!
Love your work Eric, been following from the start and you mtb vids. This adventure has got me hooked. Love it that you are learning as you go. I dont like giving advice mostly as everyone learns different, but I would be a little more 'aggressive' in some of those tricky situations. Keep it up! From aus and nz
Hi ! see i told you, you're getting better on the way and you're gonna be more and more confident ! But keep cool you still have a long way to go . Ride safe and enjoy !✌
Well done Eric , seems like your brief stint in the sand - experiencing what a really loose terrain feels like on a moto- really made you alot more surefooted on the loose rocky stuff that followed ! 👍
Eric, i have the certainty that if you keep to treat the clutch of your bike so hard, you will burn it very soon. So as soon as you will be back to the civilization buy a front sproket with one or two teeth less and you will get a big improove or torque, thats what you need in your bike as you always go up on the mountains charge as a donkey at a low speed. Your clutch will thank you..... ;-) . P.s. your drone footage are wonderfull and the music combined with them perfect........ciao warrior ;-)
YES! Drop a tooth or 2 on front sprocket! If you dont need bike to have higher top speed make it easier to ride slow by gearing down!!!! Probably has a 15 tooth...can go down to 13. Should cost ya like 15 bucks.
Dirt bike clutches are meant to be abused, and a lot of times you actually want taller gearing in low traction situations to keep from spinning the rear tire so easily. What he should be packing, though, is a replacement clutch so he can use it like it's designed to be used, but still get back to civilization once he burns through it.
@@silverdale3207 It will drop all gears equally. Droppin tire pressure and lower gearing are the 2 things that will make the biggest cheapest improvement for his off pavement adventures. He is not running out of gear on the slab from what I have seen. Spending the bucks on suspension setup for that massive load he is carrying would be $$$ well spent too.
@snomanizdman It only drops it an equal percentage if you think about it, so say you go 10 percent smaller cog, at 10kmph you'll drop 1kmph but at 100 you'll drop 10kmph,I do it on my dirt bike on tight courses but it makes it very revy if you any straights.
Wow 16:54 The music start of the drone footage brought me LOTR again And I admire you will never give up attitude again Eric on that Rocky road definitely between a rock and a hard place 😂😂

Another GREAT video Eric! Man, that Kawasaki of yours sure takes a beating and keeps on ticking. Really love your channel and always looking forward to seeing the next episode… 2 thumbs up! 👍🏻👍🏻
You are Brave with Grit !!👍 Be careful and stay Safe👍👍
Eric ,I've been watching you from the beginning and have to take my hat off to you Sir .
Well done can't wait to follow you to New Zealand .
That little bike has been pretty forgiving and easy... even with all the lugging. It will be interesting to see how that holds up.
Beautiful, glaciated landscape views! Interesting stuff you show us. Thanks.
Holy crap, what a spectacular place on the planet 🤩🙌
Man, I'm blowing though these videos way too fast ! Just about to have to wait for each release.
Oh and I feel like your practice in the sand really helped you there, you seemed much more comfortable in this type of terrain than before
You've gotten SO good at riding through the 'baby head' rock gardens! GOD's speed and stay safe!
The Canadian tourist board owes you big time. Beautiful country.
Just happy to be out there 🙂
Seriously, your drone footage is some of the best I've seen...WOW! All the best from Calgary, AB.
The drone video's are so amazing. This is the best drone video I have seen so far on U-Tube channel I watch.
We live on a continent that provides multiple life times of adventure✌
Loose section like those rocks, you can sometimes get away with getting off the bike and just feathering the controls. It's a little trickier up hill but also works in snow and sand and mud. And an enduro technique is to bounce the rear suspension by loading your weight back and throttling as suspension rebounds, like a wheely but less braap.
All the best dude🤙
You are getting more comfortable with riding your bike, still a long way to go but you are improving. Well done man.
I like the Ichy Boots reference, I thought of her imediatly when you mentiontion the formation of the volcano.
Thanks Eric, glad you're enjoying the videos!
You have my admiration.Respect
Keep the videos coming they are brilliant, real and sooo encouraging. In this crazy world we live in it’s great seeing the challenges trials ( but most importantly) the successes you have.
Thank you Jonny. I'm very fortunate that people are so into the channel. It's definitely a bit of a relief :)
Feel free to touch base if you ever need anything, (especially if you hit Ontario, cool routes, landmarks, points of interest ect.)
I'd ride with you any day!
This has very quickly become my favourite you tube channel! Thank you Erik, can’t wait to keep following along
I just found your channel this weekend. My wife and I watched all of your videos. Looking forward to seeing your next adventure.
thank you for watching!
Magnificent. I do believe I'll be taking a drive there next season.
This is great content, Eric. Time well spent.
She's great hey? Finding the Iraq videos super interesting :)
@@Una_Moto same, I can't wait to go back and watch more of her older stuff 😁
Yukon is breathtakingly beautiful
Every time the drone is taking those expansive mountain shots, I can't help but wonder how much money it would cost to accomplish the same result 10-15 years ago. The follow cams are so cool to see!
We think the music is perfect! You are doing an amazing job as a newbie rider.😊
Thank you for the kinds words! 🙏
Good job Eric, fun watching you push your skills. Amazing scenery. Get knee guards, they are very comfortable and could save your knees.
Eric you are inspiring me to leave Atlantic Canada and ride in BC! Epic drone work pal
Every Canadian should see west of the rockies at some point 🙂
Your improvement over such a short period of time is impressive! Loving the series so far and the drone shots are top notch!
Thanks Lance :)
I was thinking the same, going up that rocky track takes a bit of doing.
Love the flight videos and the matching music selections. Fabulous adventure. Stay safe!
Don’t burn the clutch out , maybe change the sprocket, lower gearing a bit.keep up the good work.Martin Thailand 😎
Amazing drone footage once again. I really enjoy these videos.
As always on this adventure---great video and narration! Don’t burn the clutch out or kill the bike or damage yourself, only another 11000 miles or more give or take to New Zealand so dig deep and go fare and were with you all the way.
I do commend you on the task you have taken on. Especially with no motorcycle experience. You are doing great. Keep it up.
Those all rock “roads” are pure hell
Love watching you. You have alot of supporters. What i love most is right now my father sent me to the States and Canada for a year before Uni, and i am remembering so much from your videos. But the most i love, are your detours. Its not just A to B. So much respect to you. I ride and yes, respect❤
You really do a great job editing. Great use of the drone and narration. Good luck on the rest of your journey, I'll be following you on your way
Dude! Always with the dodgy tunnels! 😂 Absolutely loving it
What a gorgeous area, lucky you.
wonderful video fella, what a remarkable place that mountain range was 🙂
advice: you need to learn about holding momentum on these rocky climbs or knowing when to say enough, or even unloading the bike and doing the climbs to make it easier on you and ultimately the bike - you are getting yourself out there in the nowhere and if you burn the clutch out it's going to be a long f'in hard couple of days getting out on foot and then figuring out how to get the bike out afterwards....The sand, this climb, i can smell the clutch from across the atlantic - take care man and keep exploring, loving this journey of yours and i am seeing your sub count very fast so it's obvious that many others are watching too, the rewards are heading your way - stay brave 🙂
Wow, thanks!
This is better than a Netflix series. Waiting for the next episode. Send my regards to Wilson. You both are doing a very very good job, amazing views, nice music and comments. Take care and keep going!
You haven't even left Canada, and the views are amazing. Just can't wait what you discover abroad.
It’s going to be a whole new vibe with new rubber. Thanks for the ride and see you next time. Stay safe.
Trouble is going down one or two teeth doesn't drop 1st gear much but drops your top speed by a lot more so it would really compromise his road speed
This your inner tube situation, I wouldn’t be picking trails like that with how remote that is
Wow 16:54 The music start of the drone footage brought me LOTR again And I admire you will never give up attitude again Eric on that Rocky road definitely between a rock and a hard place 😂😂
Thank you for your frequent positive comments Ashley 🙏
@@Una_Moto you’re very much welcome and on your BC POV Channel I gave you a lot of support and positive comments helping you conquering your fear of big jumps. Definitely won’t change giving you support and confidence boost
What a great video, spectacular views, can’t imagine the feeling riding your bike almost to the top, beautiful to also see all those old mining structures, thanks for sharing!!
Great to see you continuing to find cool tracks off the beaten trail. Didn't see any other tracks through that snow so you were probably the first one up there this year.
Try reducing the pressure in the rear tire on such difficult sections, I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised how much better the grip will be. Thanks for the video, the nature is very similar to Altai and the Caucasus.
What you have their Eric is a Stratovolcano that created a Caldera. Love the Drone footage over that area!
Eric, I’m along for the ride! I would love to see you make a video of your gear, and when you are doing your service intervals on your bike. When you make it down to the states, you should allow (some good) folks to see your plans for the day and do meetups. I’d love to ride a few miles along side and fill up your tank/get lunch to support the journey! Could even show you some local spots on the map!
Killer drone footage. Looks like a different planet.
Your drone shots 👀 So good. 😍 Spectacular scenery.
