One of my favourite groups of plants. Just made a spotlight video on another weird Madagascan Euphorbia, platyclada. Cheers for sharing with us as always. Keep the awesome videos coming 👍🏻🌵☀️🌼🏜
Fantastic, I’ll check it out. You know.. I was putting this video together and it never even crossed my mind that platyclada is Madagascan, I was so focused on all these leafy things.
Those are some I have never heard of.... Amazing collection you have, and your enthusiasm is boundless! Another top rate video with great varieties and leaves me with some plant hunting! Looking forward to Part 2!
I know for some other plants the use of a tuning fork is fantastic for getting them to drop pollen. Potentially you can try that on some of the trickier euphorbs to pollinate. Just a thought but I know for certain carnivorous plants like heliamphora it's pretty much the only way to go about it. Anyhow great video as usual can't wait to see the next installation.
Looking forward to the adenia, (my pestering may have been an influence), currently ordering an Adenia Venenata for the "my plant is exquisitely dangerous" flex. But winter is setting in here in the US Midwest so that may be the last plant order for at least a few months.
Just left Africa. Tanzania. Omg. The baobab trees. Wow. Just WOW! Huge euphorbias too. And I mean huge. Nothing compared to the baobabs …nothing compares to them but it was the trip of a lifetime.
Great video as always, only plant i grow from that island is Euphorbia leuconeura, super Easy to grow and the seed pods explodes😅🎉. euphorbia ritchiei super easy and fun plant as well but from mid Africa and trigona but it dont really like to grow 😅.
Hello mate :) If you bought your euphorbia francoisii and they was grown from cuttings, they might be sterile, sometimes only male sterile, sometimes only female sterile, other times both. Worth keeping an eye on, if you cant get any polination to work. Also with hybrids from seed, you can get them sterile aswell, but chances is less. awesome video and best regards 💚💚🌵🌵👍👍
These are all seed grown - I feel like it might be a timing issue? Not hitting the female flower with pollen when it’s receptive or something. I’ve got about ten of these plants, all from seed, so I can’t imagine they’d all be sterile.
I want that E. decaryii…and romana, that fringe ooh, hortlust strikes again. Going to go look see if there is an illustrated book on Euphorbias. Geez And all I knew was E.Millii, had a red flowered one and thought getting the yellow flowered one was a big deal 🤗🌱
There’s probably a few illustrated books on Euphorbias… but there’s just so many of them it’d be hard to keep it all in one volume. I’ve got a pretty chunky book solely dedicated to the Euphorbias of South Africa… and these things grow all over the world 😬
When i like ved on the coast (frost free) i had severial E. millii with different coloured 🌹 wers from the usual red/orange, pink, coral, salmon and cream. Loved them.
I have gotten some Caudex seeds, I planted in pumice. how long does it take till I see a little shoot or something? Should I miss them weekly? I have them in a container under a grow light and in a baggie sealed.
Depends which species! Some species will germinate within days, others might take years. If you know which species, I might be able to offer some advice
I own both Euphorbia milii (1 year old) and Pachypodium lamerei (3 years old almost 4) right now my pachypodium lamerei is extremely bushy since it suffered burning underneath a grow lamp which resulted in the original growth point to die and sent out 3 main branches and 2 or 3 sub branches and she's been growing in zone 7B with temps reaching above 40C easily and gets afternoon shade during the summer but during spring and fall full sun
@AridZine I love plants that are extremely resilient especially that pachypodium lamerei it's been through a lot but still standing tall and firm, I have several species of succulents but my favorites come from Madagascar and native ones (North America) like Agave and Red Yucca especially agave since it's actually recommended to not feed them I do give some food succulents but it's mainly for ones that grow leaves maybe a root booster here and there to freshly repotted plants to help minimize stress besides that I pretty much leave them alone, and if you ever get the chance get your hands on lithops they are tiny species of succulent that makes a good edition for those who want more but lack room
Malagasy plants are awesome, you have some hidden gems in your collection! Looking forward to the non-Euphorbias too.
Thank you. 🤘🤘
Bro you gotta stop with these bangers I'm living on your channel😂😂
🤘😂🤘
@@AridZine. isn’t it just crazy interesting!? And not a Monstera or Aroid in sight 🌱
Me too
@grannyplants1764 this is a succulent channel you will not find anything that likes the water
Nice. Can't wait for the next one.
Cheers! 🤘🤘

Interesting trick! I’ll have to give it a try
What a cliffhanger ending! Great video, can't believe the variety in your collection. Maybe one day I'll catch up haha!
Based on your recent seed sowing form… you’ll catch up pretty soon 😂
Seriously, great intro🍻👍🏽
Thank you! Cheers!

Niiice. Love Adenia venenata! I often forget I have these ludicrously toxic plants happily growing in the greenhouse.
I have a Euphorbia tulearensis and it is absolutely stunning. Its small compact size makes it an ideal plant for those with limited space at home.
I love tulearensis! They have the best caudex of all these plants
Nice. I have a few euphorbia's but I don't collect them anymore because we occasionally get a frost.
That makes it difficult for sure
Frost I can deal with inside, I can’t collect them being retired and poorer than the proverbial church mouse 🐁

Yeah, baobabs are something else! Bizarre also that they are basically giant mallows!
That sounds absolute amazing. One day I’ll get there and see these plants in habitat. Super jealous!
Bravo to you for remembering all there names! You should think about giving a Botanical Tour of Madagascar🌵
Thank you! I’d love to go out to one of these fascinating locations to see the plants in habitat… one day.
Very interesting 🎉🎉🎉

Leuconeura is a lovely plant - if I had more space I’d grow it too.
I love ❤️ your videos and look for them everyday
Thank you!

Thank you! Appreciate it! Great plants in Argentina - would love to visit one day!
@@AridZine yo tengo cactus de 28 años están Uruguay saludos
Uruguay! Ahhh I mixed up your flag 😬 I would love to see cacti in the wild in Uruguay too.
Wow, it's amazing! 👍💚
Thank you! Cheers! 🤘🤘

Wonderful pachypodioides - Well proportioned!
Thank you! 🤘🤘
You probably like Ceropegia's too!
I LOVE Ceropegias! Wish I had more

@@AridZine They are indeed. Can't seem to find them anywhere here in the EU, though.
