Hello to you and everyone who visits your channel. My name is Gabriel Titus, I am 45 years old, I am a man from Romania, especially passionate about succulents, cactus, but also the rest of the plants from all over the planet. Thank you for the most positive, well-made, well-explained series about your collection, but also from other places, such as this captivating episode, which honestly fascinated me because I was able to see plants that I might never have seen if you and other enthusiasts had not presented them here on TH-cam In conclusion, I would like to say that I would like to be friends even if we live in different continents. God bless you ,
Hi, Florida USA here. I used to have a century plant, looked similar to the huge agave starting to bud. When I had mine it was so huge! Easily 5 feet across. When it was sending up the death shoot, it grew 2 feet a day!! Absolutely amazing!! Thank you for your enjoyable, informative videos
Holy Molly, this is just Amazing. Most be amazing to live in a country with so many different climates😮. If only Australia and nz wasnt so far away from Europe, id love to visit it, maybe in another life 😅. Lovely vid a always mate, keep up the good work and ty for give us info and entertainment. 🎉👍
Feeling a little bad about it, but cracked up when you said, "I suppose if you're going to graffiti a plant, you could do much worse." Kind understatement, there. Around here, we have a horrible problem with people carving up our American beech trees, killing creatures that could easily be living to 300+ years. I do hope that the paint washes off of that poor plant, soon, and that the malcontent youth stop carving it up. This was a truly spectacular garden. Thank you so much for bringing us along and showing it off!
Thank you for the fun tour!! Interesting relationship between the agave and the aloe pups- i Wonder what the mechanism is. Is it just protection from the elements or is there a mutual benefit going on? ✨
I suspect it’s protection from the elements - they call them nurse plants, or something like that. Basically there’s a nice, shady, moist micro-climate under the edge of the agave that’s perfect for nurturing seedlings, and in this case the aloes have won the jackpot by ending up there.
Yeah it’s an interesting thing… there are clearly some climate similarities between Wollongong and the areas of South Africa & Madagascar where those Euphorbias are from. I have no doubts many of those cacti in the glasshouse would have been fine outdoors, too, although they’d probably be more marked and weathered.
Thanks for the fieldtrip, boss. Really enjoyed it. I would have expected you'd need to go further West for this, Perth or something. The nice thing about being based here in Canada is that any desert succulent I might collect will never survive outdoors so there's no real threat of it getting out of hand if it went rogue shooting seeds out the door one day like down under.
its a shame a lot of the teens have no respect for plants, the bottle tree at the end is epic.. i did the Sydney botanics recently but never even been to the gong. great vid
Hello, I liked taking a trip with you and the other grower. I have been following you for some time now. I just bought 2 Caudex plants, you showed some on a video. Waiting for them to come in. I do have a question, my string of pearls is sitting under a grow light, maybe 2’ feet from light. I have noticed that some string are dead or dying- why? Most of plant good. I water once a week. My other string of pearls sitting on kitchen windowsill and doing 😂the same. Why??? What am I doing wrong? Thank you for help Dot
Oh dear... hard to diagnose plants without seeing them. I can only suggest that they'd probably be healthier outdoors... all indoor plants seem to be in a constant descent towards death, to me.
@ thank you for your reply, my problem is a really cannot go outside. We are now having temperatures in the 40 and 30 at night time and high 40s during the day. Notocactus were reclassified as Parodia some years ago… the joys of taxonomy and ever-changing plant names. I actually had a little rant about name changes and taxonomy originally recorded but the audio didn’t work properly so I had to cut it.

Thanks for joining us Gabriel! I’m glad you’re finding the videos useful. Appreciate the kind words - cheers. 😀
Another fantastic video! Thank you for sharing this!
You're basically the Steve Irwin of succulent plants education. I've learned a lot from the handful of videos that I've watched so far.
Steve Irwin is the GOAT, it's humbling to be compared to him! Glad you're finding the channel useful.
I do agree, but maybe wrestle down a few opuntia pads for action, and you are there mate ^^ 👍👍
They used Cactoblastis cactorum, the Nopal moth.Nice field trip.
That’s the one! I knew I was rambling some absolute rubbish at that point, couldn’t for the life of me remember what I was trying to say. Thank you 🙏

2 feet a day! Wild! Thanks for watching. 😀
Impressive large specimens! Love them all.

Thank you! It’s a fair trek down here from Europe - made the long journey a few times.
Thank you for another information-packed episode. Beautiful, I love it! 💚
Thank you for watching! 🤘🤘
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion for these plants! I learn something with each video!!
You are so welcome!
Beautifull garden tour, love that HUGE magnífica 💚Thanks for sharing 🤙🌵
Thank you for watching! 🤘🤘
Damn recalcitrant youths. Great video, incredible place.
They’re pests! 😬
OOOooooooh, please do more tours! REALLY enjoyed both the imagery as well as your commentary!
I fully intend to - just finding places worth touring is the hard part, there’s not a lot of cactus places around here 🥲
@@AridZine That's great to hear ^^ Looking forward!
Spectacular !!!
Agreed!
Thank you for this video, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You smashed this one! Awesome video👍
Cheers! 🤘🤘

Vandalising plants is no good… at least the Opuntias and Agaves are tough enough to withstand it. Glad you enjoyed the tour!
Love the gentle intro music in this video while you’re driving! A nice change :)
And as always a killer shirt!
Thanks! Still figuring out the music side of things so any feedback is most appreciated. Cheers! 🤘
Loving the videos man keep it up 🎉🎉
Glad you like them! 🤘🤘
Really interesting video, thanks. I loved the pacapodiums, I have one doing very well in my garden here in Perth.
They’re such beautiful plants aren’t they

Beautiful thank u!
Btw im surprised the euphorbias are outside and the cacti inside.
Cacti are typically a lot hardier than all Euphorbias

We've got a pretty good climate for most cacti and succulents around Sydney.. although I'm sure Perth would be even better suited for many.
meraviglioso😍
Thank you! 🤘🤘
Welcome welcome to my day beautiful greenfriend! Thankful for your loving guidance and gifts of loveliness
You are so welcome
That astrophytum is also mislabeled. It must be a Astrophytum ornatum;) Nice vid btw!
Foiled once again by poorly labeled plants at the Botanic Gardens! 😅
Check out those Chuck Taylor converse sneakers!❤❤
They’re so rad!
Crazy to see what can grow down there compared to here in the UK!
We’ve got a great climate for it
I'm so thankful for you
😀
The fit goes hard 🔥
Thanks 🤘🤘
you're reminding me of our old made Costa today :)
Very unintentional I assure you... but any comparison with the GOAT is truly flattering.

Yeah it's not ideal, but what can you do. Better than plant thiefs, I guess? Anyway, it's well worth a trip.
Whetting the old appetite for a video on just Queensland bottle trees, with that clip at the end, there. 😂 Any chance that one might be in the offing?
I’ll certainly get around to it… there’s a nursery just up the road that almost exclusively stocks them.
@@AridZine Hurrah!! Thanks, whenever you do get around to it!
Good video.
Appreciate it! 🤘🤘
bro, come to california and I will take you to the Huntington library! I'll be your camera man and you do your thing!
It'd be a dream! Big trip though. Maybe one day! Cheers dude

Outback road trip when?
You can’t imagine how much I’d love to do that… probably not gonna happen any time soon though, young kids at home… maybe I need to bring them too 😅
@@AridZine a more coherent, higher production value version of 'crime pays but botany doesn't' would be quite enjoyable is all I'm going to say.
