  • This is the 3rd installment in my Oaxaca series. This trip was a botanical quest unlike any other as we've seen in the previous videos the landscapes are varied and truly as unique as the succulent flora with in them. Today I spend time exploring an area filled with Mammillarias, Agaves, Hectias, bursera as well as many other plants which I may not be able to identify.
    I hope you enjoy this. The quest continues.....

    Besides the dog, did you see any wildlife?

    • @CactusQuest
      @CactusQuest  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah we saw a mongoose actually but couldn’t catch it on film. Fish in the river and so many different types of birds lizards spiders.

      @@christinaeilers3562 yeah it was the dog of one of the land owners but certainly wouldn't be the first time to find a stray deep in the wilderness

    Very interesting Hunter😊🙏Yes, why do the cacti grow biggest on the gypsum? Could it be that seed germinate very easily anywhere, but because the gypsum is difficult for any other plants do the cacti easily grow and can grow bigger? Anyway, please enlighten me on my idea🙏I enjoyed watching buddy🤘😊

    • @CactusQuest
      @CactusQuest  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know that the gypsum causes them to grow large, those columnar Cacti have that programming for tall, gross coded into the genetics. Take the Mammillaria that was growing there. For example, it was quite small, so I really don’t know it’s intriguing to say the least.

    Nice to see Greg Starr in habitat. I wish I knew what species of Neobuxbaumia that was. The spineless condition has surprised me, although towards the end of the video the damage shown looks like it's caused by burning exotic grass.

    Don't like the taste of tequila and now I know why. Agave is related to the asparagus and I don't like asparagus. Thanks for helping figure it out 😜👍✌️

    Greetings from Australia! Great video. Keep them coming for we that will never get there... Really interesting to see that orchid (Laelia or Encyclia??) growing in such a dry area. I presume is the opposite during the wet season. And the gypsum! oh the gypsum...
    Thanks. I look forward to the next!
