Incredibly deep, yes. The Magos being a better strategist and tactician than the Dark Angels Master was fun af to me, or the fact that none of them knew ANYTHING about the Necrons. Or the Marines tanking gauss beams in the chest with no effect whatsoever. Really enjoyed this, The only bit that I just didn't feel fit well was a lot of the MCU style humor. I like the grimdark being dark, no need to make light of it, Astarties proved that you can do a whole thing of it being serious.
How did they survive so cohesively after Guilliman's reforms? Were the Death Wing and Raven Wing made distinct chapters or does each chapter have a sub-Deathwing and sub-Ravenwing, each hoarding one hoarding the best equipment? I think this has been the best representation for me of the difference between normal and terminator armour--specifically the mobility of the former and the massive solidity, but cumbersome nature of the latter. They could not have easily fought in and out of the Necron tomb if they had all worn terminator armour, although they might all have survived. EDIT: Some very nice nods to classic SF tropes with the Tombworld recording things for millions of years as it stood there. I wonder how many Necron dynasties there are in total? Did destroying this one take a major chunk of their whole race? And how large was the nuclear bomb? It must have been into the megatons to breach the surface like that. All told this was a very nice melding of 40K lore into traditional SF/Millitary SF settings and motivations.
