Ronin Dave and that is why they were so desperately trying to get it into the air dock so they can jettison it out of the ship and into space... Horrifically, that effort failed.
Ronin Dave Actually you’re the first overthinking. The reason was simply because it was original and cool to have an alien/creature with these features. Ronin Dave Actually you’re the first overthinking. The reason was simply because it was original and cool to have an alien/creature with these features.
No need to try finding the “big motivation” for everything.
They had electric prods and flamethrowers to deal with the Alien without splashing the blood everywhere. Flushing it out into space was simply the safest option.
a Xenomorph is an SCP
@@themurphy1245 Well regardless the alien probably had corrosive blood by design if they were engineered to be the ultimate predators. Similar to how some bugs/plants/amphibians and other creatures on our planet are poisonous to eat so even bigger predators leave them be. The acid blood would be a desired trait in the xenomorphs because it would further ensure that they could establish a hive and cause a successful infestation.
Technically specking we never actually get confirmation in this movie that the Xenomorphs themselves have the acidic blood, just the facehugger
Still holds up today as a great looking sci-fi classic with stellar special effects and set designs! And a perfect cast!
One of the best movies ever made.
what have you been watching?
I don't know how kids feel when they watch sci-fi horror movies nowadays, but I guess is not the same as when I was a kid ..( today kids are bombarded with aliens and splatter videos from video games smartphones etc...) when I saw this movie the first time I wasn't prepared for such agonising journey ) in Italy they presented this movie by a very popular programme about science( the Presenter was Piero Angela, the Italian version of David Attenborough) so I thought it was going to be instructive... however he did warn the audience that the movie was dark and creepy... that night I couldn't sleep ... I was traumatised, but at the same time I was aware that I had watched I truly masterpiece!!! And I still watch it every now and then, this movie never ages!!!!
Luis Lizard True!! that unknown feeling which we had when we saw this as kids. Scary as hell!
I was exactly the same!
Sylvester Chint as a kid i came across it on TV. Seeing this scene I quickly switched channel, but i couldnt get it out of my head. I had to go back to see more.... Anyone else had the same?
Luis Lizard This is my favorite movie of all time. If you want to still get scared from alien, get Alien Isolation, a really good Alien game.
But if i'm a kid and i like the old movies in fact i think that i dont like this generation of movies
Crazy how this movie is still kicking the asses of movies made today
This is my all time favourite film. I'm glad you guys have it up here!
Cool.. but it's not my favorite...
I love the contrast of styles of intelligence the crew shows, Dallas is all about the cellular aspects of the acid and Parker just explains the basic creature defenses saying how hard it is to kill.
Can you imagine this film born at 42 years ago ? And it still looks awesome at 2021.
1:06 I love the sound of the strings in the music! Nice plucking!
One of the greatest movies of its kind, it's right up there with the thing. Perfect combination of horror and sci-fi
This movie is such a classic!
Spiderman: hey, do you remember that really old movie Aliens?
Capt.: I know, i know
What about Headcrab ???
@@aaadj2744 it has nothing to do in the alien universe
Duh
Ridley Scott knew 100% what he was doing, great film.
Too bad he didn't stay true to form
@@ralphangel561 That's because he didn't write this film.
This is why Alien is my favorite movie of all time.
This and the original robocop will NEVER be beaten.
Classsssssic films.
What about Prometheus and Covenant? Oh yeah they suck.
@@jasoncrandall5320
Both good films. Nothing insane but worth a watch.
The best part of the clip is the look on Brett's face after Dallas gives him his pen back.
The brilliance of this scene is how they figured out early on that they have acid for blood. Modern horror won't make them that smart.
Huh? They can see it has acid for blood the minute they try to cut it off Ash's face and it eats through two decks of the ship.
Absolute masterpiece, amazing it was made 42 years ago.
JAWS is the Superior creature feature though...
I was a new grad nurse working nights at a city hospital. This movie had just come out and my boyfriend and I wanted to see it. I was tired from work, but got up and went to a matinee. After that scene where the alien comes out of the crew member's body(and I just about jumped out of my skin), I wasn't tired anymore!!! What a movie!!!
I've just read another comment from another Karen further up, she said she watched it at the cinema too
@@jamesjameson4566 😆I just read another comment from another James further up👍
@@karenmilcarek8299 did you? Or are you just saying that? I actually did see a comment from a Karen that went to see this at the cinema when it came out, that is not an insignificant coincidence
@@jamesjameson4566 Yes, I actually did. James Hooper.
@@karenmilcarek8299 OK thanks Karen, I just thought you might have been answering defensively in a sarcastic fashion, because of all this hullabaloo with the hijacking of the Karen name, sorry
Hollywood is now all about catering to the largest audience possible, usually the PG13 audience. Never see such classics as this anymore :(
Four quadrant trash is all they're making now
@@visionist7 I agree Felice, it's mostly trash. That new IT movie can't hold a candle to this 70s great movie.
Arran Vid The new IT movie was pretty good, but compared to this classic, it’s a mediocre film.
"Now?" Hmm, methinks you have an incomplete understanding of cinematic history,
Hollywood caters to adolescents with short attention spans.
we still use pens in the future apparently.
Well think about when the ink and quill was first used and how long that has last.
Any smart idea to replace them?
@@carlosdgutierrez6570 everything being touch screen
@@saamankingofkings1213 Touch screen sucks
@@aspiknf In all likelihood though, it will soon completely replace the pen and paper.
Ok, seeing this 2 minute clip convinced me I need to go rewatch this 2+ hour movie all over again for like the 300 hundredth time….😬 🍿 🥤 😋
I love this movie.
The way the acid eats through the floor gives me goosebumps.
Alien: Our blood is acid to you
Signs: Out water is acid to you
the music goes perfectly with this
That little 'good, god' line that Ash says makes this scene seem even more realistic. Brilliant
Fun fact: During a scene where they're examining the dead body of it, they used fish and shellfish to make the innards. Animal innards were used in the movie.
"Here's your pen back, Pinback."
Happy 40th Anniversary, Alien! :D
I love 1960's-1970's movie soundtracks
Ironically this is indeed 1960's music. They used the music from Jerry Goldsmith score for Freud (1962) for the temp-track and kept it in the movie (to Goldsmiths great annoyance).
It freaked me out that the blood just kept dissolving through everything, I was wondering where will it end?!
if it breaches the hull, you can't really just plug it up with a caulking gun or patch kit like a sailboat!
@@thiscorrosion900 It's only one atmosphere of pressure. You could seal it with a sheet of plastic and a caulking gun.
@@CTimmerman If you insist! LOL ok
Alien and Jaws scared the crap out of me as a teenager in the 70s.
Acid Blood is one of the best plot device.
This movie was ahead for Its time
Ian holm passed away he was great actor in ALIEN and LORD OF THE RING
and yeah R.I.P Ian holm 😢😢😢😢😢😢
So much mystery and patience, this crew is smart and cunning. They don’t rush decisions (unless it is dire). Love monster-sci-fi horror
Saw this in the theatre when it came out. One of the all time great sci-fi horror thrillers. Scary as hell
Forever my favorite movie. The Shining coming in second.
They don't make movies like this anymore..
Nowadays its all comic book movies, action movies or T rated "horror" with only jumpscares.
I agree they really need to give the superhero films a break and do more alien and predator films i heard they are trying to reboot predator which will suck if they do hell the remake to pet sematary was awful the original was good. Im tired of this generation ruining great classics like this i was born in 92 i grew up watching these films. Movies of this day and age have nothign on these films
@@aaronnantz2289 Originality has pretty much died and is replaced by movies made for focusgroups.
To be fair, this movie had quite a few jumpscares.
interstellar.
The Conjuring!
nice setting while the Spaceship operates on DOS...lol loved it...
Rip John Hurt
Think of how badass these aliens are to have acid running through their veins.
Like my ex .
two of the most influential filmmakers of our time - especially when it comes to action and sci-fi cinema. In the one corner you have Sir Ridley Scott, the man who gave us Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, and… The Counselor. (Mean, we know.) In the other corner is James Cameron, the man who gave us Aliens, The Terminator, Titanic, and… Piranha II: The Spawning.
The soundtrack is skincrawkingly great.
RIP Ian Holm 😢
Love this movie. A sci-fi movie with Sigourney Weaver. Great!
I like how the energy is so hype. And Wow..1979? That was a while ago. I wasn't even born yet.
上手くできてやがる!これじゃ殺せない!
I feel like the strength of the acid blood varies greatly and is only as powerful as the plot wants it to be for that specific scene
Who in their right mind would trace acidic blood from one level of a ship to another without goggles and body protection?
" ...don't get under it! " Yea!
And thus, Science Fiction Horror was introduced to the Earth.
in a big mainstream way.
That prop looks so real. Utterly convincing. Incredible
Its got a wonderful defence mechanism
You don't dare kill it
"Here's your pen back" 😳
1979! Wow
Alien: "That crap's gonna eat through the hull. That thing's gonna eat through the goddamn hull! Come on!"
Aliens: "They're coming outta the walls! They're coming outta the goddamn walls! Let's book!"
