Crazy how the Umbarans would have not too long ago have been fighting on the side of the Republic. Also, never send troops on an unsecured open road that is prone to enemy ambush and always use air support, something that tends to be underused despite the Republic having massive naval fleets orbiting overhead.
My friend, you apparently don’t know something. The fact that Krell sent forward a vanguard detachment, on the contrary, is an excellent idea, as he did not set up all the other forces in an ambush. Walking through the jungle where there is constant fog is also not safe and even more dangerous than walking on the road. Rex did the most terrible thing a vanguard could do, surrendered his position and retreated straight to the main forces, seeing their exact positions and forcing Krell to throw people into the battle on the march.

@@ozansimsek1660 Yes, I've watched this episode more than once, and I've also completely dismantled this arch. The only time Crell actually tried to kill the clones was when the clones themselves attacked him. At the first moment, as I already wrote, Rex broke the order and did not complete the tasks that the vanguard was supposed to perform, retreating himself, personally putting the unit at risk of accurate enemy strikes. When fighting in the gorge, Krell made the most of his resources, not only trying to teach Rex a lesson, but also collecting information from the battle. At another point, 3 clones were hijacked by Umbaryan stormtroopers and personally flew away from the base, which could also set up the entire unit. Later, when information about a droid subversive group came in, Krell sent troops to find the saboteurs, and the only problem with the clones was that they were not convinced who opened friendly fire to them through their own fault. And later, with no significant evidence at all, they staged a mutiny, where Krell could simply say that he didn't do it, and maybe it was poor coordination of forces, and then Rex and the clones involved in the rebellion would be tried in court. Probably didn’t have it at the time being, and getting huge walkers might either take longer than the time they need, or getting sniped by the enemy being transported in flight (and the Umabra people had some powerful weaponry). Also since Krell was around, he wouldn’t allow cause he hates the clones.
The waiting umbars simply did not allow large ground vehicles to move quickly. The Republic's technology is simply not prepared for this, unlike the Umbarian technology, which is prepared for such terrain. Only AT-RT light reconnaissance walkers were effective in such terrain; for this purpose, a bunch of ARF units were pulled into Umbara.
