That's because Robin didn't have to be both the Avatar and the Lord at the same time. Awakening, like Fates, had multiple protagonists that the game centered around, but unlike Fates, it knew who to give focus to and when. It's still primarily Chrom's story, as the main Lord of the game, while Robin (and later Lucina) serve as the secondary protagonists. Corrin has to essentially play both Chrom's and Robin's parts in the story of Fates, and that combined with the larger glut of "main characters" and the fact that Fates is three games in one, means their story doesn't have the same directness that Robin's or Chrom's had in Awakening, and it makes them feel like a character with no clear vision of who they should be. Don't get me wrong, I like Corrin just fine, and think they are underrated as a Lord, but their biggest problem story-wise and character-wise is that they are written so inconsistently throughout even just one path. They do definitely develop differently over the course of the three different pathways, but their development gets heavily muddied by their poorly executed writing and character direction.
Though you have to admit, Corrin can get pretty stupid at times in Revelations! Ryoma & Xander: Hey Corrin! We are both your honourable big brothers who are two of the strongest units and are essentially tanks. We care about you so much that either of us will go batshit insane if you don't choose us in Birthright or Conquest. So you can definitely trust us when we say this little boy Anthony is an obvious Anankos goon! Which is incredibly obvious! Corrin: No big brothers, he's not a goon! I know this because I trust people blindly. Now I'm gonna follow him into a dark building all alone *Get's whacked* Oh no! He betrayed me! I never saw this coming! Ryoma & Xander: Don't worry Corrin, what is your biggest flaw is also your greatest strength! Me: *Banging my head against the wall*
CRASHX500 Yeah, I don't think we'll be seeing him or her on any Top Fire Emblem Lords lists any time soon. Even worse was that I made her look like me in my first playthrough...... hard to project yourself onto a character when they're doing stupid things. Avatar: Let's walk into the dark building alone with the suspicious character! Me: Let's not! I would never do this! XD
Tommy Zarate I kinda liked Asura. I think killing the two generals did piss Ryoma and Xander off, but at least it stopped them from killing each other then and there so we could recruit their OP asses later :P
from a story telling and graphical standpoint? absolutely from a gameplay standpoint? hell no, anankos was way too easily beat considering he is built up as this all powerful dragon god.
In all seriousness, I think for the intro songs you should've used "birthrights and love" for #10 - #6 and the "conquest and fate" variant for #5 - #1. That would've been cool.
I didn't fall for Queen Mikoto's crap, I almost fell for it then I thought, oh right Anankos' puppet and all the doors have been blue for the rest of the chapter
Bryson Lepage I accidentally opened the wrong door. I’d put Kagero on the tile and when I tried to end her turn, my hand slipped and I clicked door. Two seconds later there was a massive boom.
Yes... I was surprised at that too; not because I dislike the Arete chapters or her role, but because it's a pretty facepalm-worthy mistake. At the least, he should've made it clear that this thread was only for "Revelation", since as far as Azura knows on the other two routes her mother is gone for good... but then again, it's not a critical "mistake" overall. That said, I was surprised that with his interest in story and characters, neither of the two chapters where Sumeragi and Gunter are the enemy bosses appeared; on the OTHER hand, I think CRASH might be planning a Top Bosses list, and if that's the case we might at least see Anankos on there SOMEWHERE... Even if you found it too hard/too easy, even if you didn't care for the character - though he's better than Grima at least - or any other complaints, you can't deny that Anankos' final boss battle has such a CREATIVE means to it, and really makes the story FEEL epic at the end.
0:40 "At the very least, all of them are good." Back when this video was first uploaded, I knew there would be a nuclear explosion in the comments alone. I consider myself a Fates apologist, but even I can't defend every map. Chapter 25 is the worst of them all and quite often the path is easier than Birthright. But hey, you might not even see this comment and your opinion has changed, but I can respect it either way.
FingerlessJames I think it could've worked *better* if they had just changed on or too things, but yeah, stealth generally doesn't work too well if it is turn based
This is a pretty good list. Honestly, there was only one chapter in Revelation I didn't like. Chapter 25. It was probably because I kept screwing up though and getting my units killed, making me restart it several times. Besides that one though, I thought Revelation was fantastic.
I have yet to find anyone who genuinely liked Chapter 24. Its just a REALLY bad map. Hell, stealth in a Fire Emblem game is something that shouldn't exist at all. And I thought Snow-shoveling: Castlevania Edition was the worst map in Revelations. Great video, though. Personally, the maps in Revelations were extremely weak, and just done terribly.
Chapter 24 almost made me blow a fuse in Revelations because of how stupid it was (I haven't played the game for almost a week). I'm a bit of a completionist in FE, I want to recruit all the characters, visit every village, treasure, gaiden chapter etc. Then you have 24 where I get punished for doing one or the other (Kill the guards and miss out on Boots and 10K gold or vice versa). I heard there is a FE fan hack that actually has a stealth chapter that's better than that one. I honestly question Crash's choices now. Just because a chapter like 10,7 and 24 are "unique and different" doesn't mean they should get a free pass. He's lucky the FE fanbase are not as crazy as other fanbases.
+FingerlessJames The problem with giving you all those statboosters is that they're not really well-earned. Being a friggin' snowplough and crawling through a map is not hard in the slightest: It's boring, tedious and stupid. And you get crazy good rewards for basically doing nothing. Why? On top of making Corrin OP by forcing you to lowman the first few chapters, the game throws this shit at you to make you more powerful. Is this even supposed to be the medium difficulty route? Sadly, even Birthright scaled the difficulty better.
When i first played the chapter with Mikoto, I didn't trust her at all. I went through the chapter doing everything she said and I opened the first two blue doors with Kaze since he has locktouch. Then she said to open the red door and I was super skeptical. So instead if Kaze, I opened the last door with Xander. All of my units went down to 1 hp and Xander blocked every enemy from coming out and killed every one of them without getting killed.
7:07 I loved this map at first because of the gimmick it had but it fell from grace a few turns in because of the fact that the flames will die down or activate at complete random
I am shocked that you believe Revelation has the best map design in the entire series, and that there will not be a worst list for it. To me, Revelation has hands down the worst level design of the three Fates campaigns. I still enjoy Revelation for what it is, but it is my least favorite path for mainly this reason. While some of the levels have interesting ideas that you mentioned, I think they could've been executed much better. Chapters 12 and 18 require units use dragon veins in certain spots, assuming you put royals near those spots, which you certainly might not especially in chapter 12 (your favorite chapter!?!) considering the veins don't even show up for a few turns and everyone is separated onto boats. It's just unnecessarily frustrating. Not to mention, with all the characters you get, you think each chapter would let you use a lot more of your units than usual, but nope. Chapter 10 might've been one of my favorites too if it weren't for the fact that you are only allowed to bring SIX characters with. It makes that chapter feel like more of a chore than a fun adventure. The final boss even, while my favorite of the three final bosses, lets you only use THIRTEEN. THE FINAL BOSS. WTF!!?! You're saying I took the time to grind all the unfairly under-leveled units for nothing:!?! Though I respect your opinion nonetheless.
If you enjoyed it personally than good for you. But objectively they are pretty awful if you give it some thought. Do most of the gimmicks add anything of substance to the game? Does having certain playable characters be moved around in ways that make them impossible to use when they join make it replayable? etc.
@@hennyzhi2261 But having no gimmick is something the rest of the series does, so Revelation should be top spot for every FE fan because it tried something new! Whoever doesn't agree with this is just unfair, and not an easy to impress person (I am easy to impress, that way I enjoy more stuff than people who get upset every time).
On a side note I've watched your channel since 2016 when someone on miiverse recommended me one of your videos. I also liked your collab with Honest Biggums. For all the effort he puts into his videos, he deserves a lot more views. Both you guys, keep up the good work!
You're welcome. Thanks for taking time out of your day to respond to a random nobody like me commenting on a 2+ year-old video. I'm sure you get lots of comments on your newer videos and are very busy. Even just one reply from you is awesome and I'm guessing you felt similar when Rena Strober responded to another video of yours.
25:48 Xander, don't be so cold! Get it, cause it's a frozen sea? You SEA? This is why whenever I make a pun, people just give me the cold shoulder! That's enough ice puns and sea puns for one day.
... looking back on when I played fates am glad I only went through the revelations path instead of going through the other 2 routes along with revelations... also takumi saved my bacon a lot in the maps when he was on the team....
I like the part where Crash said "Ryoma needed to be save from Hans". I had to pause the video to understand that one. (though you clarity in the sentence afterward) That had me thinking
Most may say Revelations had the worst level designs, but I was pretty neutral about them. Not going to deny the fact some of them are EXTREMELY tedious, but I was determined to get all of the treasure chests, dammit!
Hey, BlazingKnight? I found a bit of an error in this video, and it involves the #10 entry. That shadowy figure you showed in the clips, aka the one that killed Mikoto and was constantly attacking Corrin and Azura? (SPOILERS BTW), was actually revealed to be Sumeragi. I'm sorry but I cannot ignore that error.
Amazing top 10! The Metroid prime federation force joke was hilarious!!! I loved how much better chapter 7 was than the ones in conquest and birthright. Especially since I just replayed fe7 and played "battle before dawn" two days ago.
Does it bother anyone else that Gunter could be revived by Sakura and Elise, but Queen Milk to couldn't? I mean, obviously Sumeragi was dead for a while, so that makes sense. But Mikoto technically died after Gunter. And yes, Gunter was dead, as Anankos can only control corpses.
Anankos can control living people - just ask Takumi in Birthright. Gunter was indeed still alive, as confirmed by the fact that he was still kicking after they freed him from Anankos, whereas the others all died pretty much immediately.
+CRASHX500 finally a fog of war chapter was made right, oh boy i have to suffer through those chapters since binding blade and blazing sword, and believe me, those chapters almost made me throw my cellphone away!
OH HELL YES the system tweaks video is next! ooh, i hope it's a double top five, and that the weapons system is on both lists because, while the infinite uses thing was cool, (And a total lifesaver in conquest) the way that they punished you for using stronger weapons was just... gross. it would have made everything easier to understand if they just brought back CON, maybe then it'd be worth using silver and brave weapons... Anyways, this was overall my personal favourite video of the fates marathon so far. tight editing, good joke timing and some great list design (go figure) really excited for the next list. now, if I'm correct, it's only "Top ten Paralogues" "Top ten Child units" and the 3ForAll of the pathways left. also, i really hope you see this comment crash, as i was wondering if I could plug your channel under the featured channel tab on my channel? (Take a shot every time i just said channel)
Glad you liked the video dude and yes feel free to plug my channel under the featured channels tab. In regards to the marathon there are still more videos to come outside of the ones you mentioned, plus a video I didn't know I was going to make until after playing fates which I'm sure will surprise everyone :)
You are mistaken, the mysterious swordsman from chapter 5 and B11 is Sumeragi, not Arete. You can tell this from the beginning of Chapter 5, where Sumeragi shows up as the sprite from chapter 5.
I am quite impressed with your decisions, my good man. Though, admittedly, I was expecting Chapter 25, "Blades Drawn," due to the rather complex "elevator" system, if you will. And not only that, but you get one of the most touching and elegant messages from an anime parent ever with the Hoshidan royal family. :)
MongrelYungoos In fates yes, but in other games many maps had either thieves taking all the loot, or bandits raiding villages or an allied unit in danger, or just a turn limit. Fates is very good in mechanics and graphics, but story and map design certainly took are not yet to the level of older games (ignoring awakening of course, which maps barely had any design at all)
MongrelYungoos That is another story. Being 'creative' or unique does not make a map good, nor does a map being well-designed make it creative or unique.
I can understand that and I would feel the same, but I happen to like the chapters that were recycled, if they' d recycled chapters I didn't like then I certainly would groan.
CRASHX500 Yeah I suppose it is a good thing if you liked the chapters. But when I think back to it, it was because Chapters 7 and 8 were recycled chapters. So I guess I was worried I was gonna be feeling deja vu for a while.
Who else got incredibly irritated by him not using End of All: Below? Well, I guess you already were because of the song being there every time, again and again, since it slows the vid down so much, but hey, what do I know
You know, more objectives would've made a huge difference. Seize might as well be defeat the boss, rout the enemy is well, rout the enemy and i find that the paralogues seem to be more creative in mechanics and objectives. I personally wish there were more "hold for x turns" chapters because well, i like holding chokes and turtling and the only thing that sucks is if a high mov unit catches you off guard and seizes the objective.
Yeah I just have one problem with number4.... It barely raises the stats of the enemies when stepping on the tiles which makes it way less unique as people say it is.
Chapter 16 would be a bit higher on my list, because the soundtrack is The Light Shines Beyond, and the combat version of that soundtrack is BEAUTIFUL. Here's a link, for those interested: th-cam.com/video/KiN_2XRltgI/w-d-xo.html
Depends on what you mean by older. To cover all bases I've played all the western fire emblem games (blazing sword, sacred stones, path of radiance, radiant dawn, shadow dragon, awakening & fates) and currently the only Japanese fire emblem games I've played is binding blade.
***** YES THEY ARE, they are cousins, that is related, and yes it is legal in a lot of countries, not just Japan (even the UK, but only under certain circumstances) she is actually the only character in the entire game you can marry who has any blood relational to you, and there may be a chance of birth defects, but it is unlikely,
speaking of chapter three, I was playing through and Jakob distracted an enemy that hans killed and then he followed me to the bottom of the map and killed the boss for me
Give Corrin SOME credit. He straight up told Anthony that he didn’t actually trust him and left a message behind telling them to tail him. Leo and Takumi apparently didn’t get the memo.
hey, Blazing Knight! you know how your least favourite chapter outside of fates is THAT chapter from path of radiance (title of chapter censored for the people who haven't seen top 15 worst maps/chapters and also to stop Blazing Knight from combusting into flames from the title alone.) does that mean you hate chapter 17 from revelations? once you finish chapter 16 you're immediately thrown into chapter 17 and you're only allowed to change a handful of units, just like THAT chapter that you hate.
Ooh, BlazingKnight! I got a pun for chapter 12 since it came in first (If I make fun of either of your three wives from Fates, I apologize; I never intend to do so {BTW, this is to the tune of Katy Perry's Hot n' Cold}): Camilla's hot, The sea's cold, Hoshido or Nohr. We win or we out, I just got branched out! Neither side is right; One's black and one's white! Camilla's above, Oh shit, she's gonna MURDER US! Dude, we better run for our lives Or otherwise our deaths aren't gonna be nice! Cause she's hot while we cold As I sing it so bold And I somehow I think Flora's coming down with ice sticks! RUUUUUUUUUUN!!!!!! *runs away and screams*
10:15 YOU MONSTER! Did I miss you mention the gimmick of Rank 5? (the obstacles?) 16:15 Good Point 16:21 Bad Point Rank 4 (moving Forward) was a neat idea in theory but I never felt like it affected my playthrough of the stage. Rank 3 The best part is we get to see Zola (XD loved the L'Oréal Joke) and very clever on noticing that the map was a Metroid-vania map. Rank 1... I didn't like waiting around for 6 turns... (that's why assume the moving platform level and the Sumeragi level didn't make this list.) especially since everytime I played it I split my allies up all weird... accidently had my 3 dragon vein users on 1 boat... put my 3 weka units on 1 boat and people I wanted to get relationship points on different boats. Great Video Lewis!
Thanks dude I'm glad you enjoyed it, and in regards to 16:21 haven't played star fox zero so I don't know if it's good or not but I heard mixed things.
Don't ever do the stealth mission in chapter 24. It is not worth it. Also, Ryoma should have slapped Corrin with his Rajinto in chapter 21. He PROMISED him that he wouldn't let Scarlet's sacrifice be in vain only to trust some sketchy-ass kid who came out of nowhere that literally everyone else suspected. But no, they all sugarcoat his blunder with ''that's your worst flaw but also your best attribute blah blah blah'' Worst Fire Emblem protagonist of all time.
I agree that Corrin is a bad protagonist, but he doesn't really blindly trust Anthony. He makes sure that he has a plan in case his trust in Anthony is misplaced, and he didn't want to jump to conclusions about him.
in chapter 24 i knew she was lying but I wanted to see exactly what happened when you opened the wrong door so i did it and so i had a lot of deaths (i was on casual though to scout the game) but then ryoma and laslow magically healed themselves (laslow had sol but i have literally no idea how ryoma healed himself but they saved the day just like ryoma was the only person left when i was fighting garon in BR)
Funny story about me and chapter 24 I got to the last doors, Mikoto says the red one is the correct door, and I thought, man what would happen I picked the wrong door? I chose the blue door, and I was feeling mixed emotions such as happiness for picking right, and mad for Being lied to
I wish that Going Forward had one little change: Have Anthony be an actual character rather than a Faceless. I know it displayed how cruel Anankos was, changing one of his soldiers into a mindless monster, but it just made the boss feel a bit boring in my opinion. Maybe they could've changed it slightly so that Anthony asks Anankos for the power to destroy them, causing Anankos to create the red and blue tiles, which would make Anthony a Master of Arms with incredibly high stats when he's on a red tile, but turns back into a weak Villager when he's on a blue tile. Also, he may have had access to a re-usable dragon vein he could use to change his tile back to a red tile if you don't finish him off when he's on a blue tile before he has his turn.
very good list. suprise there isnt going to be a worst chapter/level for revelations (for ex. ch 17 odin and niles are way too underlevel at this point.)
I personally hate chapter 7 - chapter 9 because you don't get a choice of who to bring, in chapter 9 you bring all of your characters except one, I think, but the levels before them force you with Corrin, Azura, Felicia/Jakob and Gunter
Honestly Revelations is pretty poorly designed. I don't think I can even do a top 10 chapters because they're all boring and suck. Chapter 7: Not enough units to become interesting. Corrin just juggernauts and Gunter joins too late. Chapter 8: Chapter 7 BR but backwards. Still lacks units to use. Chapter 9: It sucks. You're units do too little damage. The wind becomes a hindrance over a cool shortcut. And this is coming from someone who likes Conquest 20. Chapter 10: Hey you know what's fun? Limiting your deployment slots to less than half of the available units and making progress go to a crawl. Chapter 11: It's just BR Chapter 10. With more Master Ninjas. Eh. Chapter 12: Ship map where pressure isn't strong enough. Also I got Reina a chapter ago what's difficulty? Chapter 13: Only real chapter I liked. Even then, the barricades aren't really useful and are just there. Unlike Soliel's paralouge. Chapter 14: Shitty route mission, takes forever. Hey I'm almost done-oh wait reinforcements at the start of the map fuuuuun. Chapter 15: They just put units in the Rainbow Sage's Tower. Enemies and NPCs. Chapter 16: Fire's random and annoying. This is the start of the game saying "Hey! Use the Royals!" Chapter 17: Hey look I got four units I hope they don't get one-rounded or anything~ There's also no pressure after the initial wave. Chapter 18: Hey I hope you've been using the royals or else you can fight lots and lots of reinforcements while Corrin gets the the dragon veins to progress. Chapter 19: Chapter 15 Conquest but eh. Very meh chapter enemies hit hard and... It's boring. Chapter 20: Hey hope you've been using the royals or flyers. Or you're not progressing~ It's a slog. Actually all Rev chapters are slogs. Chapter 21: Still a slog. It's an interesting gimmick, but really falls short when you just make enemies unpromoted and there's no punishment for it. Chapter 22: Bring flyers or Royals or it's a slog(it's still a slog regardless.) Seeing a trend? Chapter 23: Same as chapter 22. Chapter 24: Boring stealth mission that takes too long. Chapter 25: Boring crawl to the boss. Chapter 26: It's a big map where enemies dive into you and reinforcements come unless you have Royals. Wheeeeeeee Chapter 27: Fuck it just kill the boss. Endgame: Small platform, enemies are non-threatening, boss is a joke. At least it's not Dragon Vein heavy. Rev just tries too hard to be gimmicky. It brings progression to a halt and there's no punishment for turtling. It also really wants me to use the royals and don't even get me started on the unit balance.
it's not that Rev is trying to be gimmicky, but rather the game is encouraging players to play slow and rely on luck based shit such as the stupid elevator is Sumeragi's chapter. The whole game has no objectives that force the player to get off their ass and place their units in precarious situations to obtain some reward. The FOW map, the snow-shoveling map, the boat map, half of the valla maps and much more have turncounts ranging from 10-25 and sometimes 50 turns. That isn't good design, and this isn't just opinion either, the maps in Revelations are objectively bad. That doesn't mean people can't enjoy them, it just means that they fail to meet the criteria that other Fire Emblem games have set in stone in Level Design 101. Also unit balance has always been shit in Fire Emblem, literally no Fe has good unit balance: FE 1: Pants-less Marth + Wendel = easy game FE 2: Alm gets 28-HKO'd in the first chapter.....28 hits FE 3: Palla + Sirius, as well as having over 75 % of the units be shit FE 4: Horses, nuff said, also there is literally no downside to being pre-promoted. Also Sigurd(strongest unit in FE) FE 5: Warp duh, also Asvel, Fergus and Othin competing against a walking silver card FE 6: same with FE 3, pretty much 75% of the cast is utter shit and useless FE 7: Pre-promos in this game do not have enough redeeming qualities FE 8: Seth FE9: Horses are once again broken FE10: Jumbled up availability, Haar, Titania, Haar, Volug, Haar. Did i forget to mention Haar? FE 11: Wingspear, also Warp FE 12: same problem with FE 3, except add My Unit FE 13: My Unit Solo and you have shit-tier units such as Donnel so really no FE game has good unit balance, this isn't just exclusive to Fates
I feel like you're trying to pull an argument for argument's sake here. It's clear we both don't like Rev. Gimmicks are a factor in making the gameplay slow. It's a part of the map design as well. And you've brought up some of the Rev gimmicks in your argument. The elevator is a gimmick. FOW(in this case) is a gimmick. The snow-clearing is a gimmick. These gimmicks make the gameplay slow. I know FE doesn't have fantastic unit balance in general. I never said that it was exclusive to Fates. I said it, in combination with the bad map design makes Rev a bad game.
true enough though you didn't exactly state the main reason to Fates failing in map design, which was how the level design sometimes purposefully halts the player's progression, which is why I said it, but yeah what you said is true. This map must be a pain the ass for LTC players.
FE 4 chapter 2 would be LTCer hell. Enemies constantly ambush you and you don't even have a flier at this point. You get your flier AFTER the point where you need them, and, if you aren't ready for Ferry, you might need to kill her, as she to Evans castle after around 6 turns, if you don't recruit, intercept or kill her. Also, ALL THE BACKTRACKING. I love FE 4, but I've wasted a whooping 2 weeks on chapter 2! Literally nothing happens between Heirhein and Anphony castle, after killing Voltz and the Armor Knights, you literally can just waste time, but then ambush spawns appear around Mackily Castle which can kill a unit, if you aren't ready, and if you are LTCing, then it takes a LONG time to even get to the enemies and they've probably seized Noidon Castle by this point, and, as I said before, Ferry's squad will be pretty close to the castle, and if you didn't move Lewyn from one side of the map to the other, down AND BACK, then Ferry will probably make you restart. Also, if you are trying to LTC, you NEED to spam staves with Deirdre to make Gen 2 easier, but she'll need to run her ass to Mackily Castle to Silence the boss, otherwise he'll Sleep all of your units as enemy/ally items have INFINTE uses in FE 4, BUT she will probably be butchered by the Ballistas if she didn't sell her Aura tome and didn't gain enough levels. It also takes her about 15 turns to even get her in range to Silence the boss there. Then, you need to beat Zyne and your melee mounted units will get their asses handed to them by him, which makes using a unit like a Mage or Archer a better idea. OH WAIT. Your only non-mounted mages are a PROMOTED Edain, which you wouldn't have in an LTC run, an un-promoted Azel, who'll get his ass handed to him by the other units, and Deirdre, who won't kill him in one shot, even with max magic. Then, 1/2 of the bosses have Great Shield. JOY.
I can easily respect your opinion, but for me, The voice of a god was probably my least favorite chapter for how easy it was, and Dark Flames was my favorite chapter for how hopeless it feels, but then you get all these extra units and you feel like now you stand a chance!
Hey, Beruka is a beast. If you use her personal skill well, she can take care of many units easily. As for Subaki, the only time he's bad is as a Falcon Warrior, oddly enough. Plus, if you get rng blessed, he's a really solid unit.
I'm glad you liked chapter 12, but you'r like was my bane lol, i hated waitting for the dragon things to show, but by no means a bad level or a bad chapte
I got stale bread in the game when I upgraded it I named it corrin
No no, he's got a point
robin will always be better then corrin, for many reasons.
True, but there is devils in the details. As in Litterally. Robin is the devil.
It's almost like Corrin brings down everything in fates...
CRASHX500
Yeah, I don't think we'll be seeing him or her on any Top Fire Emblem Lords lists any time soon.
Even worse was that I made her look like me in my first playthrough...... hard to project yourself onto a character when they're doing stupid things.
Avatar: Let's walk into the dark building alone with the suspicious character!
Me: Let's not! I would never do this! XD
Azura is the biggest dummy in the game. Who woulda thought that killing both army general would piss off both Ryoma and Xander?
Tommy Zarate
I kinda liked Asura. I think killing the two generals did piss Ryoma and Xander off, but at least it stopped them from killing each other then and there so we could recruit their OP asses later :P
Soooo, you're just gonna conveniently leave out the part when Corrin had a backup plan in case Anthony was going to stab him in the back?
You gotta admit, though...
...The battle against Anankos was a goddamn stellar finale.
Except for the fact that you can only bring 13 units with...
I thought the Heirs of Fate final boss was an improvement to that.
I had to let go of one of my units there. sad days
+xGracigloo I did like how the finale to Heirs of Fate was essentially the Anankos battle remixed
13 units:
Corrin
Azura
Nohr siblings
Hoshido siblings
Awakening trio
from a story telling and graphical standpoint? absolutely
from a gameplay standpoint? hell no, anankos was way too easily beat considering he is built up as this all powerful dragon god.
In all seriousness, I think for the intro songs you should've used "birthrights and love" for #10 - #6 and the "conquest and fate" variant for #5 - #1. That would've been cool.
I was thinking the exact same thing!
Or silence and blood since it's intended for revelations
I didn't fall for Queen Mikoto's crap, I almost fell for it then I thought, oh right Anankos' puppet and all the doors have been blue for the rest of the chapter
Bryson Lepage I accidentally opened the wrong door. I’d put Kagero on the tile and when I tried to end her turn, my hand slipped and I clicked door. Two seconds later there was a massive boom.
I literally fell for it
Personaly in chapter 24 i saw through the dick move but decided to maybe fall for it because that's what corrins would do
lmao this comment is gr8
What was there to see through? She said go through all the blue doors so I did just that.
2:06 The mysterious figure that you are referring to is actually Sumeragi. Arete doesn't even use swords and is mounted.
i noticed too
Chapter 25 is the worst
of them all and quite often the path is easier than Birthright.
But hey, you might not even see this comment and your opinion has changed, but I can respect it either way.
Ohh it certainly was, and thanks.
Am I the only one who would watch videos starting the misadventures of the Crash Knight?
also, if you go stealthy, you get special items, like Boots if you complete stealth
huh. neat. too bad I suck at metal gear fates. "Corrin? Corrin?? COOOORRIIIIIINNN!!!!"
FingerlessJames It took me quite a few tries, but i think it was worth it!
XD
+The Mighty Biscuit lol, fates is not built to be stealthy, and neither am I, so I stopped after one attempt. XD
FingerlessJames I think it could've worked *better* if they had just changed on or too things, but yeah, stealth generally doesn't work too well if it is turn based
+The Mighty Biscuit good to experiment I guess
Yeah, Chapter 10 was essentially a second Fog of War map. :/
And yeah, I'm as surprised that he actually liked Chapter 24 as you are.
I loved 10. it rewarded you with lots of stat boosters if you went through the whole map. idk, sue me I guess.
I loved 10. it rewarded you with lots of stat boosters if you went through the whole map. idk, sue me I guess.
Cant wait for the children! Ophelia is life 😁
True.
+Samuel Park who? Like L as in Death Note? XD
+Samuel Park oooooh. see, sadly enough I don't use Jakob, probably a mistake, so I've never recruited Dwyer. XD
+Samuel Park lol true
I prefer Selkie, idunno why. I just do.
Crash have u played the DLC hidden truths because if u haven't u definitely should it ads a lot to the game
There are 10 unique Revelations chapters that are good?
I was shocked aswell.
It's either I find joy out of my own pain, I have a hipsters opinion, or RNGesus blessed me, because I loved the revelations chapters.
14:26 Kaden and Keaton appear. The best reason to love it.
On a side note I've watched your channel since 2016 when someone on miiverse recommended me one of your videos. I also liked your collab with Honest Biggums. For all the effort he puts into his videos, he deserves a lot more views. Both you guys, keep up the good work!
Yes he does and thanks.
@@AkameGaKillfan777 No problem and some my older videos still gets lots of comments, but yes it's mostly the newer stuff.
25:48 Xander, don't be so cold! Get it, cause it's a frozen sea? You SEA? This is why whenever I make a pun, people just give me the cold shoulder!
That's enough ice puns and sea puns for one day.
... looking back on when I played fates am glad I only went through the revelations path instead of going through the other 2 routes along with revelations... also takumi saved my bacon a lot in the maps when he was on the team....
crash, I'm pretty sure you were close when it came down to who attacked corrin all game in birthright, but it was not arete, it was actually sumeragi
Have you considered doing a countdown for the music?
I have and it's near the top of the to do list concerning fates videos
CRASHX500
Sweet!
Something that i realised. If you get Revelation already in the special version, why not include it in Birthright and Conquest as a New Game+ Mode?
Of course you mention FIIAAAH EMBUREM. Great vid btw.
And you do realize Azura is your cousin. right?!?!
It's implied, but not really confirmed. We don't actually know for sure
If your moms are sisters, you are cousins.
+Josep Prats no no, definitely confirmed. why fire emblem...... Just why? *sad violin*
FingerlessJames I don't mind it. At least she's a hot cousin
Well the thing is... In eastern countries, that kinda shit is allowed to fly.
What version of Lost in Thoughts All Alone played whenever you did the number transition?
End of all.
Thank you.
>Revelations
>Good
Pick one
I'm seeing double!
Sooooo when the list for the Paralogues? And will it include Awakening AND Fates?
Not sure but I plan to make separate paralogue lists for each game.
+CRASHX500 sweet, i'm excited, and thanks crash.
You are mistaken, the mysterious swordsman from chapter 5 and B11 is Sumeragi, not Arete. You can tell this from the beginning of Chapter 5, where Sumeragi shows up as the sprite from chapter 5.
23:51 What about the Dread Isle?
This is a message from Lord Nergal: "I await for you on Dread Isle"
I really enjoyed the level design in revelations
I am quite impressed with your decisions, my good man. Though, admittedly, I was expecting Chapter 25, "Blades Drawn," due to the rather complex "elevator" system, if you will. And not only that, but you get one of the most touching and elegant messages from an anime parent ever with the Hoshidan royal family. :)
Complex? It was just a box moving back a forth, and only if the door can close. Any chapter you can take your time with is a bad chapter.
What? 'Any chapter that you can take your time with is a bad chapter' that's a huge amount of fe chapters in general.
MongrelYungoos In fates yes, but in other games many maps had either thieves taking all the loot, or bandits raiding villages or an allied unit in danger, or just a turn limit.
Fates is very good in mechanics and graphics, but story and map design certainly took are not yet to the level of older games (ignoring awakening of course, which maps barely had any design at all)
+Ms10000123 Like those chapters are sooo creative and unique.
MongrelYungoos That is another story. Being 'creative' or unique does not make a map good, nor does a map being well-designed make it creative or unique.
It's great that you liked EVERY chapter in Revelations. I'm a little surprised because sometimes replaying recycled maps made me groan a little.
I can understand that and I would feel the same, but I happen to like the chapters that were recycled, if they' d recycled chapters I didn't like then I certainly would groan.
CRASHX500
Yeah I suppose it is a good thing if you liked the chapters.
But when I think back to it, it was because Chapters 7 and 8 were recycled chapters. So I guess I was worried I was gonna be feeling deja vu for a while.
i thought it was 8 and 9. 7 was the cave one where you get gunter
Who else got incredibly irritated by him not using End of All: Below? Well, I guess you already were because of the song being there every time, again and again, since it slows the vid down so much, but hey, what do I know
it would have made more sense, than the birthright version
I didn't like how it just starts playing because final boss, the other 2 paths actually had build-up.
hi i really like your videos do you think you could do a tome vs scroll video with the animations and all of that pls
dude, I came here to watch a fates list, not to get spoiled for FMAB. like DUDE
+The Mega Gengarite Gamer just just yes, he did spoil
+The Mega Gengarite Gamer he gave a spoiler warning for FATES not for FMA
+The Mega Gengarite Gamer YES I KNOW IM TALKING ABOUT REVELATION, IM TALKING ABOUT FMA, FULL METAL ALCHEMIST
***** Oh yay!
Why chapter 3 in revelation? Why not in birthright or conquest? I think it had to be a separate top 5 the first 6 chapters...
Hey crash, have you played any of the older fire emblem games such as Geneology of the Holy War?
yes, he said it in other lists
Depends on what you mean by older. To cover all bases I've played all the western fire emblem games (blazing sword, sacred stones, path of radiance, radiant dawn, shadow dragon, awakening & fates) and currently the only Japanese fire emblem games I've played is binding blade.
Ive never played revelations but i did play both birthright and conquest so i like the idea of uniniteing hoshido and norh
Wait, so you married your step sister, your step brothers retainer, and your cousin? wow
Well it is video game and not real after all.
+CRASHX500 it doesn't really make it okay.
If we were judged morally on what we did in video games then most games wouldn't be as fun.
I wasn't judging, I married Hinoka in one playthrough,
***** YES THEY ARE, they are cousins, that is related, and yes it is legal in a lot of countries, not just Japan (even the UK, but only under certain circumstances) she is actually the only character in the entire game you can marry who has any blood relational to you, and there may be a chance of birth defects, but it is unlikely,
You liked all of the revelations chapters?! That's kind of an unpopular opinion but okay...
So I wonder...will you do a least favourite Fates characters list sometimes?
*at some time* I mean.
Oh god no ...
I'm pretty sure that I'm not going to like it and I won't be the only one.
He put Rev's worst chapters in his best list I don't even want to think about his worst list.
He said so himself that there's not going to be a Worst Chapters list.
*****
I mean characters, not chapters. I'm asking since he left it out after his favourite characters list
I really like these countdownsbthey make my day
Zola's Beat Down chapter... It also gives stat boost items. Which may or may not have gone to Azura
Are you going to do a Top 10/5/whatever number of your least favorite characters from fates?
What do you think about Revelations' Endgame?
It was better than conquest and birthright's endgame.
speaking of chapter three, I was playing through and Jakob distracted an enemy that hans killed and then he followed me to the bottom of the map and killed the boss for me
Considering you mentioned it, did you like Tokyo Mirage Sessions?
Haven't played and I currently have no interest in playing it (not saying it's a bad game it just doesn't appeal to me at all).
+CRASHX500 Top 10 Worst fates characters when?
Dunno currently I can't think of 10 fates units I hate.
CRASHX500 oh ok.
CRASHX500 oh well
i am interested about your top/worst relationship ranks/units
How to revive Mikoto 101 (#9): Use a Phoenix Down... Oh wait wrong game :p
my favorite thing about revelation chapter 7 is that knight corrin with azura's bronze lance absolutely eats it for breakfast.
Should I get Birthright or Revelations next?
Give Corrin SOME credit. He straight up told Anthony that he didn’t actually trust him and left a message behind telling them to tail him. Leo and Takumi apparently didn’t get the memo.
Ok the reason I liked chapter 10 in revelations is because the sound of breaking the ice is satisfying. That's it. Wish I could say more.
hey, Blazing Knight! you know how your least favourite chapter outside of fates is THAT chapter from path of radiance (title of chapter censored for the people who haven't seen top 15 worst maps/chapters and also to stop Blazing Knight from combusting into flames from the title alone.) does that mean you hate chapter 17 from revelations? once you finish chapter 16 you're immediately thrown into chapter 17 and you're only allowed to change a handful of units, just like THAT chapter that you hate.
I don't hate it that much because the chapter isn't too hard or long, but the no saving is still bullshit.
BLAZINGKNIGHT agreed
Ooh, BlazingKnight! I got a pun for chapter 12 since it came in first (If I make fun of either of your three wives from Fates, I apologize; I never intend to do so {BTW, this is to the tune of Katy Perry's Hot n' Cold}):
Camilla's hot,
The sea's cold,
Hoshido or Nohr.
We win or we out,
I just got branched out!
Neither side is right;
One's black and one's white!
Camilla's above,
Oh shit, she's gonna MURDER US!
Dude, we better run for our lives
Or otherwise our deaths aren't gonna be nice!
Cause she's hot while we cold
As I sing it so bold
And I somehow I think
Flora's coming down with ice sticks! RUUUUUUUUUUN!!!!!! *runs away and screams*
10:15 YOU MONSTER!
Did I miss you mention the gimmick of Rank 5? (the obstacles?)
16:15 Good Point 16:21 Bad Point
Rank 4 (moving Forward) was a neat idea in theory but I never felt like it affected my playthrough of the stage.
Thanks dude I'm glad you enjoyed it, and in regards to 16:21 haven't played star fox zero so I don't know if it's good or not but I heard mixed things.
honestly neither have I... but I haven't heard good things.
I honestly can't find Revelations on the e-shop, anyone want to help me out?
You have to buy it via the Dragon's Gate within your Birthright/Conquest game
+StealthDoctor ok thanks
Don't ever do the stealth mission in chapter 24. It is not worth it.
Also, Ryoma should have slapped Corrin with his Rajinto in chapter 21. He PROMISED him that he wouldn't let Scarlet's sacrifice be in vain only to trust some sketchy-ass kid who came out of nowhere that literally everyone else suspected. But no, they all sugarcoat his blunder with ''that's your worst flaw but also your best attribute blah blah blah''
Worst Fire Emblem protagonist of all time.
the stealth mission gives you boots if you do it. its worth it
Boots are not worth all the bullshit.
you know you should really just bring 4 units to the stealth mission. and boots are kinda limited
I agree that Corrin is a bad protagonist, but he doesn't really blindly trust Anthony. He makes sure that he has a plan in case his trust in Anthony is misplaced, and he didn't want to jump to conclusions about him.
Sense when did mark from blazing sword get put below some semblance of an actual character?
Will you ever go back to making classic Fe?
Oh yes without question but I've got to do the fates marathon first
what did you think of rev endgame?
Certainly better than both birthright and conquest
+CRASHX500 agreed. Will you be playing any of the Dlc, btw? I'd say they're worth checking out.
to be honest they should have pull a FE4 and make the next part of the game about the dlc, and the writing was better by leaps and bounds
in chapter 24 i knew she was lying but I wanted to see exactly what happened when you opened the wrong door so i did it and so i had a lot of deaths (i was on casual though to scout the game) but then ryoma and laslow magically healed themselves (laslow had sol but i have literally no idea how ryoma healed himself but they saved the day just like ryoma was the only person left when i was fighting garon in BR)
tip for chapter 21 lure the enemies by using high movement units to go to the non colored tiles that's what i did and it was great
on chapter 12 azura was a falcon knight at like level 5 so i flew around and killed everyone
No Black Flames?
Funny story about me and chapter 24
I got to the last doors, Mikoto says the red one is the correct door, and I thought, man what would happen I picked the wrong door? I chose the blue door, and I was feeling mixed emotions such as happiness for picking right, and mad for Being lied to
I see you like metroid games... can we have a top 10 metroid bosses?
Probably after the Fates marathon yes.
Well there is always the Bifrost Staff that revives one unit and can only be used once. Might as well use it to bring her back
I'm not mad, but why didn't you like Chapter 26 with Gunter?
I did like it, just not as much as the 10 entries that made the list
+CRASHX500 oh ok
Watching fire emblem fates videos while my 3dsxl hinge is being repaired is torturous
Use the Royals!"
Chapter 17: Hey look I got four units I hope they don't get one-rounded or anything~ There's also no pressure after the initial wave.
Wheeeeeeee
Chapter 27: Fuck it just kill the boss.
Also unit balance has always been shit in Fire Emblem, literally no Fe has good unit balance:
FE 1: Pants-less Marth + Wendel = easy game
FE 2: Alm gets 28-HKO'd in the first chapter.....28 hits
FE 3: Palla + Sirius, as well as having over 75 % of the units be shit
FE 4: Horses, nuff said, also there is literally no downside to being pre-promoted. Also Sigurd(strongest unit in FE)
FE 5: Warp duh, also Asvel, Fergus and Othin competing against a walking silver card
FE 6: same with FE 3, pretty much 75% of the cast is utter shit and useless
FE 7: Pre-promos in this game do not have enough redeeming qualities
FE 8: Seth
FE9: Horses are once again broken
FE10: Jumbled up availability, Haar, Titania, Haar, Volug, Haar. Did i forget to mention Haar?
FE 11: Wingspear, also Warp
FE 12: same problem with FE 3, except add My Unit
FE 13: My Unit Solo and you have shit-tier units such as Donnel
so really no FE game has good unit balance, this isn't just exclusive to Fates
This map must be a pain the ass for LTC players.
also who doesn't like arguing?
Almost all of the extra units died basically on the spot for me. Kind of ruined the moment.
Oh really? XD That sounds like the moment is ruined.
That's probably the one Revelation map that just wants to be normal, but the unit balancing is ass.
I played stealthy in chapter 24 and got 40+ turns, but I randomly got noticed without reason and almost lost lives.
If you had to pick one of the chapters in Revelations to be your least favorite, what would it be.
I'm actually curious to see this as well. Please reply, Crash.
sad thing is even though I know that part was a joke, mikoto doesn't come back at all ever.
I like the list Crash, but why not the EndGame??
I didn't think the endgame was a good as these 10 chapters, still much better than both birthright and conquests endgame though.
...im sorry but this has to be said
why did you use Subaki and Beruka for so long?
It's footage from various TH-camrs. As for why someone would use Subaki (as a Kinshi no less), I don't know.
Hey, Beruka is a beast. If you use her personal skill well, she can take care of many units easily. As for Subaki, the only time he's bad is as a Falcon Warrior, oddly enough. Plus, if you get rng blessed, he's a really solid unit.
+Matthew McGrath seeing Subaki late game made me cringe. Realizing he was a kinshi knight made me wanna cry
FingerlessJames not even caeldori at least
j
James Bradshaw I mean, I heard she was good, but I never bothered with Subaki, so I've never recruited her.
"At least the recycled chapters were the good ones and not the bad ones"
THE CHAPTER 10 MAP IS LITERALLY BEING SHOWN WHILE HE IS SAYING THIS.
I'm glad you liked chapter 12, but you'r like was my bane lol, i hated waitting for the dragon things to show, but by no means a bad level or a bad chapte
No, Crash, Chapter 10 is not a metroidvania. There's no need to backtrack if you want to explore the entire level. So you got that wrong.
So you married azura in this path? What was your reaction when you found out she's your cousin?
For Number 3.
There is someone who actually has a similar opinion of mine. Brofist!
High risk - High reward is REALLY good for me!
they should make a mode where if any unit dies the chapter restarts.that'll be perfect for players like us that restart when a unit dies
I’d say conquest’s second chapter is easily one of my favorites ever
Why do you call Jakob Sebastian?
Manetrix. he looks. like. the. guy from. black buttler
Waymon Hubert I don't know Black Butler, never watched it.
Out of all 3 path ways witch is your favorite mine is revations
When I do the 3FORALL comparing each version, then you'll find out ;)
+CRASHX500 i'm so excited
There is 1 bad thing about revelations.... The fact, that you can't save between chapter 16 and 17...
