Hey Jake the reason your jeep is running hot is that you need to put a fan shroud on the radiator.....>many years in the Desert. Good luck on your trip!
mitchell Kordich I just seen your comment after I wrote the same thing. If there's anything wrong with the cooling system on these Jeeps, they run hot.
maybe look into a waterless cooling option like Evans

mitchell Kordich , totally agree guys. I have a 07 4 door jk and I converted it from the electric fan system to the ole school mechanical with fan clutch and stroud. My jeep runs so much better.
Ever think about throwing a performance radiator in Jade? It'd definitely help with the overheating issue. It try out Mishimoto.

hey Jake! just a little tip to help your cooler hold ice longer, don't drain the water out but keep adding ice to it. when you drain the water its still nearly freezing temperatures but then the cooler fills with warm air and makes the ice melt faster. And when you get to Alabama be sure to check out bankhead national forest! I might get to see you there

You need to find a fan shroud, flush your coolant system, and if you don't have one yet, get a heavy duty clutch for your fan. These 4.0's like to run hot if there's anything that's not working 100% correct. I live in Florida and change my fan clutch out for a stock one in the winter and a heavy duty one for the summer. Good luck man!

Sometimes a weak radiator cap will lower the boiling temp of the coolant. Just a thought.

I remember when I was a kid and my family would travel cross country, (from socal to ohio) My dad would put a block of ice/dry ice infront of the rad when going thru the desert and it would help keep things cool. Just a thought. Love watching ur vids! CHEERS!

Just ran into your site and you said that the jeep is leaking from the rear main seal. Don't know if you have standard trans, but if you do, you might stat planing to replace the seal. I say this because you can ruin your clutch disk. Great video!
Awesome vids Jake, I used to have a motorbike that ran hot, theres a coolant additive called "ice"you can buy that worked for me in getting her to run cooler.....cheers!

Arizona, Fort Huachuca, my home away from home for quite a few years. Did you happen to notice that Driving from southern Arizona up to Flagstaff you go thru about three different types of desert. Usually brown except during rainy season when everything blossoms but interesting none the less. FJ

You need to check out the Rocky Mountain national park and Estes park ,colorado you guys love it there and see a group of elks by the way in to Rocky Mountain national park and everyone is friendly there and great views and great food and shopping also 😀😀😀 hope you have a light jacket and pants cause when you drive up in mountains here it gets cooler and the weather changes here just it let u guys know 😀😀😀

There is an awesome product on the market that may help(temporarily) your leaky rear main seal.
ATP products AT 205 reseal. I will give you my personal guarantee, it will slow, if not completely stop your leak. l am an ASE certified master tech, and rarely endorse any canned fixes. Remember proper diagnosis is first step in successful repair.
Fix it when you can.
Did your rear fenders get bend from the tires hitting them? I dont remember you having them clearanced haha

Did the mechanic take a look at the thermostat or waterpump while it was in the shop? I mean, prolly not since there wasn't an issue then... but they are known issues on the 4.0L.. My Jeep is about to roll over 330 kms.. so they run forever! :D

Really? It must really be hot where he is then.. ! I've had issues with multiple of my Jeeps in the past regarding heating issues.. so I know they can be tricky. :D
