I couldn't find any cuttings in my area of Washington so I just picked up a yellow dragon fruit at the market and started from seeds. Some are now about an inch high. So looking forward to the next few years of growth. Thanks so much for your videos they are awesome.

Awesome patio dragon fruit farm that you have there. Am sure that it is a lot of work to keep everything watered and healthy. Thanks for these videos! My neighbor's dragon fruit tree is drooping all over my fence, so I'll support it better on my side, and make a bunch of cuttings to replant elsewhere. It's flowers (whiteish yellow) are >6" diameter and I'll hand pollinate them when the time comes.

Wow, thank you so much for this video! I just received a bunch of dragon fruit cuttings from Amazon, some American Beauty, some Yellow Dragon. I live in SW FL, and I know dragon fruit thrive down here, have one growing along my back fence but is spread all over the place on it! Your video shows me I can put them in pots, contain them more than just planting on posts stuck in the ground, I think I will buy a bunch of 4 gallon pots from Lowes and try this, thanks!

I use cg (pressure treated) 4 x 4’s. An 8ft is about 10 bucks. They will last 20 years in water contact. Although heavier, they seem a best choice to me. I also was recommended to wrap in burlap, and I think that makes sense also, as lock-in to it is fast. Good video, thanks for the info, always learning

If one lives in a windy area, you can run a piece of rebar through the pot, into the ground to keep them from blowing over. Thats what I have to do with my large tropical plants.

Gracias bro. I just got one a few months ago. Always wanted to know how to build those trellises. Bless you for teaching that. 🙏🏼 It’s about more or less 2ft big. I have it outside in a 10inch pot. I started to get some yellow spotting at the top of the stem. I think it may be due to freeze burn. Will it be ok? Thank you for your time.

Hi Richard, great demonstration. I really like your technique, you're right a little care and planning can avoid damage and disappointment. One question though, you don't think that four plants in one pot is going to be too much root competition??? I know that it's a big pot, but those plants already had a vigorous root system even though they were only small. Thanks for another great video, take care 😁😁😁🦘🦘🦘

Hello Richard , First of all I'd like to thank you for sharing all your knowledge about Dragon Fruit and it is really informative. I'm planning to put up a Dragon Farm in a one hectare lot , would you advise me to put all the the dragon fruit in a 20 Gallon pot with fax farm soil OR just use the existing soil of the lot to save on cost. One hectare lot can install around 1500 to 2000 Trellis max.

I just watched a video that stated NOT to put different varieties in one single pot as the difference in the root systems can cause slower growth in the varieties that have weaker roots. and good call on Fox farm. that's one of the best potting soils out there
    his rules of don'ts
    1. Don't plant new cuttings w/ established plants
    2. Don't mix varieties in the same pot
    3. Don't overplant (crowd) in the same pot
    4. Don't over prune (esp. when fruiting)
    except new sprouts
    5. Allow for plenty of room between planting posts 7ft is not even enough.

Thank you ! This gives me an idea how to plant it in pots. Where did you get the posts with cement at the bottom? How long would it bear fruits? You just place the pots between 2 houses. I hope nobody breaks the branches when they walk past it. Are you a horticulturist?

    • @nam1418
      @nam1418 4 ปีที่แล้ว

The post is being sold in Home Depot. It can bear fruit as soon as you plant if falling to fruiting season. It's just a matter that your plant has enough nutrient to support the fruit. My plant bears fruit 1 month after planting. It doesn't need to be a big tree to have fruits though

Thank you for tutorial... Do you feel that 2 pitayas instead of 4 could create more vitality? Also, I feel there is too much plastic used... and waste. I like the idea of terracotta planters and a natural hemp rope to tie the cactus to the wooden post. How do the cactuses root on that plastic sheath you have on there?
