  • In this episode, we're diving into an inspiring story, where Thomas has been living in his self-built tiny house for the past seven years. This house has dramatically transformed his life, and he's ready to give us a detailed tour and share his incredible journey.
Thomas's tiny house is designed for two people and a dog. As we explore, Thomas reveals the creative solutions he implemented to maximize space and functionality. From installing three regular rainwater storage tanks to a massive water bag, his passion for gardening is well-supported, making the house as sustainable as it is charming.
Inside, you'll see how Thomas has cleverly utilized every inch of space. Regular doors and windows provide ample light and ventilation, while a sofa offers both comfort and hidden storage. Thomas demonstrates how even the sofa's "basement" drawer is used for seasonal items, ensuring no space goes to waste.
One of the highlights of the house is a beautiful round window that adds a cozy touch and extra light. Thomas also showcases a tiny yet powerful Canadian stove that efficiently heats the home with free, gathered wood. Additionally, a split unit serves as a versatile heating and cooling source, ensuring comfort throughout the year.
In the kitchen, Thomas's DIY skills shine. With ample counter space and storage, a gas-powered stove, and an electric oven, he has created a practical and efficient cooking area. Despite having no prior woodworking experience, Thomas built this house using repurposed materials, learning from online tutorials and professionals.
The compact bathroom, efficiently accommodates a shower, sink, composting toilet, and gas-powered water heater. Thomas thoughtful design ensures easy maintenance and accessibility in such a small space.
From a graphic designer and light artist to a tiny house builder, Thomas journey is truly inspiring. After completing his own tiny house, he began building custom homes for others, creating unique, functional designs tailored to individual needs. His story reflects a passion for improving lives through sustainable living.
Thomas's tiny house cost around €23,000 to build in 2016-2017. With rising wood prices, he estimates that building a similar house today would start at around €30,000 if done DIY. His experience offers valuable insights for anyone interested in tiny living.

This guy's work is what I'd consider my dream home. The ideas I have in my mind were the big windows upstairs with just enough room to sit up and the stairs with the drawers❤ 🤌very nice tour! Wish we could've seen more of his garden😊

The builder is too modest. This house is very well built. Some nice artwork on that wall above the table would be nice.

What a wonderful tiny house. I can't believe this is your first build. You've really thought out a lot of the details and I love everything you've done. The giant wall closet, the extra storage in the bathroom, the tiny wood burning unit are all genius. But the super amazing thing is the stairs. Also love the circular window. Well done!

Firstly, you are very kind and you have a beautiful soul. Thank you for sharing your home it's so fabulous and you are very, very wise. You have helped to clarify many questions I had and find everything you shared to be the most interesting to me. I have a similar dream as to your home and I will begin building within two months. I live in the Southern Desert region of Southern California. Only approximately 40 miles from Death Valley, Ca. It's very challenging to live in such a hostile environment as the Desert, but I've lived in this area for about 50 years (my whole life). I am preparing to live off grid completely. I have purchased ten acres of land and it is fenced. I already have the proper paperwork to build my tiny home and my dream is coming truer each day. Thank you sir....live happy and loving always.

Layout is good but the color of the sofa brings monotony, try Olive green or or odl stone blue for accent, if you ask me.
