Don’t forget older people who live on a fixed income. I am 63 and would love to live this way. I am so tired of being bombarded with bad news and political ads. Thanks for sharing your wonderful way of living😊
I'm 67 with only a state pension. The rent on my modest 2 bed house is £850 a month. With bills i'm paying nearly £1300 a month. Needless to say the modest amount of savings i have is rapidly depleting. Next month i'm moving into a brand new chalet on a farm for £450 a month including all bills! I only got this because a friend of mine has a holiday chalet there and the farmer will only take people that are recommended by his current tenants. Got zero help from my local council. Apparently working and paying tax for 52 years doesn't entitle me to anything more than my state pension.
This young man is blessed and it's obvious from his comments that he works the land to help his mum out. Besides, it will be his inheritance one day. Lovely his mum is seeing him enjoy her gift. She is also seeing her son live independently. I hope she is proud of him. Also, it is clear he doesn't take any of this for granted. I'd be proud of him and I am happy for him. In today's world it is much harder for the young ones to have homes of their own. I wish them both all the best.
Oli said that society is not ok with this new style of living since it’s not contributing -I’m assuming he meant taxes and consumerist behaviour that keeps the wheels of economy spinning. Well I’m afraid that people with common sense understand that less pressure on the housing market preserves more valuable land and disperses populations across larger areas which benefits society and economies immeasurably . Also people like himself preserve the lands they live on and help the soils recover and be more productive. Such practices in pockets of agricultural land may influence neighbouring land owners and farmers to reduce use of chemicals. Well done Oli keep up the good work!
That is exactly how I want to live. Especially with the cost of everything here in the Uk! Are there any tiny home groups? What a great lad and I share his ethos about having things to keep and hate this disposable society we are in. My car is 20yo and I keep it going. I collect CDs and DVDs for the same reason!. I hate the TV these days and I certainly don’t think he is a luddite at all. He has actually removed him from the utter material chaos that we seem to have to conform to.
I live in london and also havent had a tv for 10 years. That peace can be had anywhere. Make intentional choices and tweak your routines to align with peace and happiness
Hi! I would love an episode all about overcoming the various obstacles in order to live like this in the UK. Mainly the process of application to live in a trailer on agricultural land. That would be extremely informative and helpful. Thanks for your videos I enjoy them a great deal 🙏🏼

12V grid - I love it... If you think about how much you can accomplish with only 12V, it is amazing. I am very delighted to see, how little space is actually needed one the roof to pull that all off... gratulations!

I would make skirting around the bottom of the tiny house as it can prevent draft from coming under the house and making the floor cold. Also, skirting would prevent the snow and the moisture from getting under the house onto the chassis. It could get rusty over the time... If you want warmer floors, just get some skirting and you will notice the difference immediately, even if you do have well insulated floors. It will still be a difference.
Such a wonderful concept, way of life. I just love you did it, congratulations.. is truly fantastic that you broke away from the money pit most people are in. And stuff we have too much of. Thanks for sharing..
I like theses videos but I feel they paint a rose tinted glasses look at these life styles with out explaining the legality and how they live like this with strick planning laws in the UK the only place that allows it is wales and there still many hoops to jump through before you can live this way
From my understanding, it helps to keep wild stock (doesn't have to be a million pigs and chicken) to then create a farming business, then add tons of wildlife by planting hedge rows/trees and shrubs to create your agroforestry. Then maybe dig a pond or something for fish...whilst doing all that, get your little out house and live in it, causing no one trouble. If the council complain you then have roughly 2/3 years of appeals back and forth to either get off the land or get permission. Now who would want to ruin all that I just mentioned, I'd make it so the council was turned against for kicking me and my wife potentially children off the land.
