Somewhat impressive that it still works.

Me too. When I opened it up and saw what was going on I was surprised it moved at all.

Great review, ty. The tear down is very helpful. I suggest you make your own pin replacement (i.e., a nail, heavy wire, or hard steel dowel cut to size).

Thank you👍. Someone suggested fashioning one out of a drill shank also.

I guess the breaker bar broke that one!

I have the 1/4" version of this. I also had a broken pin, but machined a new one. It's good to use with a spinner.

Interesting gadget. Maybe you could cut the shank off of a drill bit to use as a replacement for the broken pin?

Thanks for the info I see them on eBay all the time and they want a pretty penny for them somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 bucks perfect example of when people use a tool beyond the tools limits always use the breaker bar first then use the adapter Short cuts don’t save time or money

I guess they thought since it’s made for a breaker bar they don’t have to hold back

It's a Proto just look up the numbers on the Adapter and google it i am sure they are rebuilt parts for that adapter ... 1/2 to 3/8 drive ratcheting adapter for a Breaker Bar i can see how that broke looks like the pawl and pin are too small for that adapter ... Interesting video and long videos are OK with me take care looking out for your next video

Correction 3/8 drive adapter not a 1/2 to 3/8 drive adapter

Yeah that pin looks definitely too long probably adding to weakness

Interesting ratchet, too bad it has a broken pin and pall. I hope that you can find replacement parts somehow.

That’s ok, at least I got to show what makes it tick👍

I think the red stuff might be residue from somebody soaking it in transmisson fluid. And it is what is left after it evaporated over time.

Can broken parts like that be purchased? Not only for Proto but any ratchet, I have a Stanley that needs a switch. I might could purchase a repair kit to get what I need. Do you know of a place where you can buy spare parts for tools? That was an interesting tool, my first time seeing one. Good job on disassembly and assembly.

The only place I know for parts and kits would be EBay. But you’ll probably have to pay a premium if you get them there.

Wow, that has alot of machine work done to it! I thought maybe you would try to make a new pin?
