The copy I have is very similar. It also does not fit on my Springfield or Garand. The locking mechanism does not come close to "hooking" on the stud. File work? Maybe...

Do you lube the ratchets off camera?

I had a 1261 Fleet ratchet that didn't work well. Your tape trick was very useful. Also seeing the spring position was helpful. Mine is a little different. The lever doesn't extend past the edge and there is no cutout for the lever. Thanks again!

3 miles away there was Kmart, Big Lots & Kroger all together. Today Kroger is the only thing still there.

I’m an ironworker I was doing a teardown shutdown at the Ford plant in Canada and I found one of these under a conveyor belt that has been used in years and I could tell you this is probably the most solid ratchet I’ve ever held in my hand when you feel the weight of it and the teeth you realize the quality

Hopefully you got a few deals on some tools. The economy is great just ask current administration. I had a Big Lots a couple miles from me. It closed 6-7 years ago inexplicably.

They were too expensive, you could do down the street to Walmart and get what you needed cheaper there.

A big lots opened near me a year ago, just this week see the closing signs on it.

The ones here in AZ are all trash. Not what they used to be. Won't miss them, and that's their own fault.

Picked up a bunch of tools yesterday in a bundle for $15 and this ratchets big brother, the 1150 1/2 drive was in there. Very decent shape.

I didn't know you had Lidl in the US! I have a set of Parkside step drills that saved the day for me last week, needing to drill some 10mm holes through thick steel workbench tops to mount a couple of bench vices.

I don't warranty Chinesium. I throw them in the trash and buy real tools, not tool shaped objects. 🤔

I'll stick with the Channellocks.

Water pump pliers but have their limitations & not really torque effective unless you want to destroy the jaws which is definitely not uncommon on cheap imported tools bought from major sellers in supermarkets etc

That is a very scarce / rare to find ratchet. I see dozens of Sears ratchets at Estate sales but never that one. What intrigues me are those cutouts on the handle. Never seen that, possibly that was done after the fact by a machinist. Also the head as a spring loaded ball bearing so you can oil the Ratchet and you need a vintage oilier to accomplish that.

Definitely a weird mechanism for a round head. Almost like the pawls on a proto. Seems like a coarse tooth round head isn’t as common either

Interesting ratchet. I was browsing Marketplace today looking for tools and came across one of these for sale. I'm thinking of buying it. It looks like this one, the stamping SK 3870, minus the outer imperfections judging by the pictures, so it may be an older version of this. To me this looks "newish" 90s, early 2000s.

There's meme going around showing square tipped knives being sold in the UK now. Most people think it's a joke but they actually did come out with those knives a few years ago in response to all the stabbings.

I like Kershaw knives too. They're usually pretty decent quality. This one seems like a good deal for the discount price you paid.

Internals are nice and big. It would take some serious torque to break the teeth on that. That ratchet would be a servicing nightmare. Perfect example on why I detest engineers. No reason for this to be that difficult to service on

That one is in good shape. Another bat wing that gets the job done. Pales in comparison to the Proto, but what’s snap on suppose to do?

Sockets i clean and then i apply Balistol Universial. For sockets i use rarely i mix in a little Vaseline with the balistol for coating.

Snap-on recommends and use Super Lube on their fine tooth ratchets, so do i. I used before to put Permatex Engine Asembley Lube in, but like with oils it gets to thin and comes out.

Do you have more info on this? Is there a website or social media page? Live in long island, would like to go next time.

I gotta say most round heads have a coil ring which is pretty easy to take off and the mechanism comes out as one so this feature really isn't that great.....But I like novelty features so I still like it.

It would be nice if all ratchets were this easily serviced.
