Because my late enrollment for part B, SS penalized me with $97/mo, even though I was out of the US at that time. Would you please let me know how I can recover this money!?
I’ve had Plan G since 2023. I paid a deductible of $226 at the beginning of the year. I was in the ER 2 xs, urgent care a few times, CT scans, knee surgery, etc., never received an additional bill.
@ChrisSadowski-pp1np Yep my plan G is great about paying everything that Meducre doesn't but the premium keeps going up every year. When my husband passed away suddenly back in 2014, I lost 2/3 of my income. My plan which cost me around 135.00 when I retired, now costs me 289.00. I'm trying to live on my Social Security check. I am on a strict budget I can't afford the annual deduction and with the price of food going up and up, I can't afford enough groceries to last the month. I am in very bad health now so I can't switch to another company because the very second I type in heart failure they turn me down. I'm also trying to support my 50 year old manic depressive/ many other mental problems that I applied fir Social Security disability years ago and they turned him down. I'm 77 years old. 97 percent deaf, can't drive anymore by doctors orders. Can't afford a car and upkeep anyway. I'm stressed to the limit. I can't afford to live anymore

Thank you for helping everyone understand all this. I have "plan F" its been discontinued by Congress a few years ago. They claimed everyone on Plan F was hanging out at their Dr. too often and was abusing this plan LOL? I have done lots of things in my life but never hung out at Doctors because I have PLAN F that I still have, but no one can get it anymore.
Same for my Mom who rarely went to a doctor. My sister got her switched to a G plan to lower the premiums. A couple of years later she had a major medical event that cost a fortune surprisingly the part B deductible didn’t cause her to not get medical care🙄 It’s just an excuse to transfer some of the costs to the individual.
I have Medicare because of disability and have plan F also. The monthly premium is very high, $545.00 to be exact! I've had several surgeries, MRI's, xrays, Cat scans, PT, and have to see 3 different specialists , plus an upcoming spinal fusion in the near future. Although the monthly premium is high, I still feel it's worth paying considering my health. I've had plan F since 2011 and grateful for it since no one can get it anymore. I do wonder if I am paying too much but if I change, I lose F. I have a more years of being somewhat healthy than not.
Plan F is still available to those who are retiring and were eligible for Medicare up to Jan 1, 2020. So my brother just retired on Oct 31, 2024 at age 71, and got Plan F, effective Nov 1, 2024. His birth year is 1953, so he was eligible for Medicare in 2018, but was still working, so he got Medicare Part A, but waited for Part B when he retired.
I recently signed up for Advantage Medicare, Social Security Plan for seniors through a certified independent agent, but until now we have not gotten any financial help. My husband, a Vietnam Veteran who was in the area where agent orange was sprayed. He only survive until now because we live healthy life style and taking lots of nutritional supplements, and these cost us a lot of money. He only gets 60% VA compensation recently; hardly enough to meet our needs. Infant, he is in Utah right now to start a job at age 77 because we can't survive in the income we are getting now. I am so sorry He has to do this. But he is so proud not to take handouts. Being Texas Ranger, the original, he is willing to suffer. "I have been suffering all my life, so this is nothing new" Gary A. Hurd, Texas Ranger.
Wonder how come Medicaid doesn’t have access charges but the elderly do I really struggle with how we hand out free medical but then do this to stick it to the elderly
I have G & am switching to N. The annual percentage increases in the long run are lower on N. Yes, you will pay $20 for a md visit but so what? You are paying less per month and u will get a smaller raise every year! And there is no $20 copay for bloodwork, ct scans, physical therapy. There is only a $20 copay to actually see the md. And $50 for an emergency room visit - how often does that happen-plus it gets waived if the hospital admits you. Your monthly premiums go up every year till u die.
I agree! I always recommend Plan N first. For FREE HELP with Medicare plans (Medicare Supplements, Medicare Advantage, Part D, etc), please call my Medicare partner, Chapter Medicare, at (352) 841-0632. They will review ALL the plans in your area and go over ALL your options.
Part b should cover it all.Sounds like a scam...And who can understand it all...especially the elderly...And those nasty tv commercials...OMG...You do have great info though.
I've been on an ACA plan since 2021 and looking forward to going on a Medicare+Plan N next month! Found a Part D for 2025 that covers most my Rx. No More Networks!! Did some homework and I see a PCP and 9 specialists. None of them would be on the SAME Part C Network, so I don't want to start changing doctors (again). Also, turning 65 next month means that my Medigap plan will be the cheapest ever, with lower premium increases as I get older (no medical underwriting for now). Now, ALL of this could change in 2026, depending on what the new U.S. Administration does (RFK Jr in charge?!?!) next year.

One thing about health insurance that no one seems to speak of is work slaves. People are stuck in jobs they want to leave but can’t because of their insurance and being afraid they can’t get the healthcare that they need.
Insurers have a fiduciary interest to provide healthcare, but industry is for-profit so there's a total conflict of interest (aka claim denials). So shareholders win, patients lose.
I had to take an advantage plan when I enrolled as I was on SSDI at the time, it was all I could get with my health. I still have a advantage plan, I cannot complain. I am Blessed to have insurance!

Not true! When you first go on SS you cannot be denied medicare supplement medigap G ir N or any other plan based on your health. It us always 100% acceptance by law. If you continue it each year u can't be cancelled nor singled out for a higher premium if u get sick or use it alot or have mant claims. If you don't take it that 1st year, and continue it each year, only THEN can you be denied due to health.
My sister is in the same boat. Luckily there are 2 fee for service advantage plans in her area, one of which includes prescription coverage. There are no prior authorizations on this plan, a rare find in the advantage world.
Thank you for the information! I live in Michigan, have worked for the government for approximately 20 years and private industry 25 years. I turn 64 February of 2025. I am still working and plan to do so until FRA of 67. I admit I am clueless in choosing a medicare plan. I’ve watched your channel and have learned from your content and the comment section but still not secure in making the right choice. Can you share more about your partner agency, please. You’ve mentioned it’s a free service but they must need to make money for this individualized advice. I feel pretty vulnerable and don’t want to be taken advantage of in my effort. Thank you, sir for your choice to make these videos. I’ve shared your channel with coworkers my age.You are providing a very necessary service to the American public!
I have a Texas Medicare Advantage plan now and a different one for 2025 which pays 174.00 towards the part B with prescription coverage if needed. With my bills, the cost for one of the plans you list are way too expensive. Also, according to much research and ongoing information many hospitals are closing nationwide as well as numerous nursing layoffs. The medical environment is changing drastically. Hospitals and Doctors are high risk negative facilities not there to help patients in the least. Holistic care has always been my plan.
I’ll be calling the people you’re recommending. I’m think in I’ll be on a dual plan because I still get a partial SSI along with SSA. And my amount totals $943

I'm 65. This is my first year with Medicare. I have an advantage plan, but I want to change to Medigap. Is it true that I have the rest of the year to change to Medigap, or is it only through Dec 7?
I just enrolled in part A and B (traditional)on special enrollment. I took Part D. Do you recommend going with an advantage programme or should I get a supplement insurance as well ?
I got Plan N in New York, but I got it late, three years after getting regular Medicare Parts A and B. My plan N with AARP/UnitedHealthCare costs me $193.50/month this year; next year, the same plan goes up to $233.75. That seems a bit much to me! What's AARP up to? Would it make any sense to switch to the cheapest alternative every year, or stay with a strong company like UHC and hope future increases aren't so much?

I have Mutual of Omaha. Ist year was $96/m all year. This year it is approx $106/m. (I forgot and don’t want to look it up but about a $10 increase). (Edit) This is a plan G for me. (AARP isn’t up to anything except endorsements of business’ that pay them the most. Like more companies. AARP is NOT an insurance company)

Is it possible to have only Part A and B and use something like Good RX for prescriptions? Or A and B with a supplement and use Good RX? I'm not overly concerned with the uncovered amount after Medicare pays the 80%.

I am still on plan "F." I have been told I am paying too much. I wanted plan "F" from the begining. I am single and totally alone. I have had good health and have never used my plan except for Dr. visits. I have been told to change to plan "G" because it is cheaper. I am afraid to change to plan "G." I have no idea when or if my health will fail. I need to feel secure. Should I stay with "F" or go for the savings of "G."
I suggest you call the Dr. Weir`s Chapter Medicare advisor. They should know you states guidelines for how/when to switch. This way they could best help you. There are 2 main differences between Plan F and Plan G. First, Plan G is not responsible for your cost of the Part B deductible, you will pay that difference for you Part B services only. This year it was $240. Once that is done, it will pay the same as Plan F. Secondly, Plan F is now closed. There will no longer be any new enrollees who turn 65 after 2020 which can/will drive up monthly premium costs year over year. Best wishes.
I think the only difference between F & G is F pays your deductible & G doesn't. And you are paying a lot more $$$ for that simple service. I just had open heart surgery on G. I paid the small deductibles & had NO added bills. I went thru a million tests, scans, bloodwork, catherization, 7 days in the hospital, followups, echocardiograms, home nursing visits, etc....I was very comfortable & secure on G. I hope that helps you. BTW, I am single & totally alone, too. We are in the same boat.
I am debating btwn G & N. My sister just had open heart surgery 2 wks. ago & a close friend who had always been the peak of health died in Oct. after getting a diagnosis in 2023 of stage 4 glioblastoma. I am so fearful of getting unexpected health issues. I live alone, already on SS but still working. Not sure what to do. I’m in CA.
@veggiecatt Get no frills N. I just switched from G to N after open heart surgery. The yearly percentage increases are LESS every year vs. G. You will get increases every year no matter what plan u pick. Be careful with AARP bc the add on a "wellness package" for extra money that u don't need or want.

The problem with all of them, even the 'cheap' Plan G, is that as you get older the cost will increase, generally every 6 months, and they are no longer cheap. But the alternative of getting a bill for tens of thousands of dollars is not real great either.
Our local Blue Cross (supposedly non-profit) offers Plans G and N on a community rated basis. Both cost over $400 per month (2024 rate) and surprisingly, plan N costs $27 MORE per month than Plan G. They do NOT offer a Part D plan, so one has to go elsewhere for that at a average in this area of over $100 per month, although there are some less expensive plans. Five hundred plus dollars a month in premiums make area Advantage plans look fairly good, even after this year's benefit reductions. There are two non-profit Advantage providers with a choice of about a dozen plans overall, plus at least a half dozen profit-making providers.

Why don’t they stop forcing people to take Medicare A & B when they turn 65? If people are still working they can pay for their own personal insurance. Wouldn’t that help the government with spending money?
If you're employed & employer provides healthcare, I don't think you have to sign onto Medicare. Check the website to confirm, but I believe that's accurate.
My husband is still working full time so he went ahead and got Part A, which doesn’t cost anything. He’ll get plan B next year. His work health insurance has a 10k deductible, but luckily his employer pays the premiums so it doesn’t cost us anything and our son can be on it for three more years.

I have been told that as a Viet Nam veteran with Agent Orange issues covered by the VA that I don't need to get Medicare. I have been getting it and paying for it at $400/month that I have just wasted my money. if this is true then why haven't you explained that and saved me the $$$$$ all these years. I am not 74 and I have wasted a lot of money needlessly.
The problem with Plan N or G you have to be in perfect health or they WILLnot take you there application will scare you unless your body is perfect shape he not telling you that
It depends. If you're new to Medicare turning 65, then you will be in the initial enrollment period. This is known as the IEP. There is no medical underwriting required and it doesn't matter what pre-existing that you have whatsoever. But there's a time frame: 3 months prior to your 65th birthday, the month of your 65th birthday, and within in 3 months after 65th birthday. If you worked past 65 and retired, then you have the special enrollment period known as the SEP. That window is 8 months after you quit working. There are some other special circumstances and situations that can apply. Therefore, if you want Plan N in without medical underwriting you will need to contact your state SHIP office to see if you qualify. Other than that, switching for Medicare Advantage to a supplement plan or a supplement plan to a different letter supplement plan would require medical underwriting for the majority of states.
Is it useless to just have Medicare A&B not affording to get sick on any plan. Age 69 haven’t been to a doctor in 35 years (take no medications) since childbirth and take total care of my health nutritionally and physically so maybe drop paying $174 month for doctor office part of Medicare?

Not going to a doctor for 35 years can mean that a simple problem is not diagnosed before it becomes a major issue. The trouble with deciding what to do for insurance is not knowing what will happen in the future. I was in great health and suddenly developed a very rare condition that required a hospital stay, several specialists, and a very expensive drug that needed to be taken weekly for 8 months. i was fortunate enough to be thoroughly insured. If I had relied upon being healthy for most of my life and had minimal insurance, I would have had to spend many thousands of dollars. With the insurance, I got back all of the premiums I paid, many times over.
What if you have a terrible car accident? You can be the healthiest person in the world & be at deaths door with an accident. I am pretty healthy & by accident, the doctors found a rare benign tumor in my heart called a myxoma. Google it. It will kill you if not removed. I had open heart surgery & it was removed. I am very lucky they found it. And I had Plan G & everything worked out well.
I decided to actually pay for medical insurance, have you heard of Devout medical insurance? I pay no premiums and lowers the cost to bearable of medical care.

This helps a lot! Thank you

What a mess of a mess!!!
Best comment yet. We just need to get rid of the insurance companies. They shouldn’t be riding roughshod over our healthcare.
Insurers have a fiduciary interest to provide healthcare, but industry is for-profit so there's a total conflict of interest (aka claim denials). So shareholders win, patients lose.
The difference is not just money - it is customer service!!

Be careful with AARP bc the add on a "wellness package" for extra money that u don't need or want.
so the monthly premium for B is one price and then you pay another monthly amount for G or N plan?

EVERYBODY pays a B premium...... Then you pick a supplement G/N & Part D drug plan OR pick an Advantage plan.
Is it either a supplemental or advantage? Not both? Advantage plans HMO has no premium . PPO does about $50.
The problem with all of them, even the 'cheap' Plan G, is that as you get older the cost will increase, generally every 6 months, and they are no longer cheap. But the alternative of getting a bill for tens of thousands of dollars is not real great either.
That's incorrect......plan premiums are guaranteed for one year. And of course they go up as does everything in this world.
@@MartinGentile-fv5sk It is correct. As you age, your plan gets more expensive. The cost is only
good for one year.
So that's why you should get a Plan N.....N increases are smaller as you age compared to G.
