Probably a blessing that it didn't turn over, with that much crap in there it would likely tear the insides to shreds. To be fair, you want the engine out anyway, there's no way you could do a decent job of cleaning anything up properly with it still fitted. Try mixing some ATF with diesel and fill the block and each cylinder to the top, let it sit a few days - the longer the better. Hopefully that will loosen things up enough to get it moving enough to take it apart. Try to keep all of you parts organized as you take things apart, a lot of the bolts and fittings are specific and it adds a lot of time and frustration later on if you keep things organized from the very start. Best of luck with it, i'm looking forward to seeing the progress. BTW, it might be an idea to do a short video on the history of these vehicles and what they were used for. There is multiple American military equipment with the designation M5A1 so it might be good to explain exactly what it is you have here.
I'm willing to bet many HST's were upgraded to diesel after the war. Possibly you could locate a running diesel engine that would drop in without to much extra work.
I can remember more than a few evenings like this with my friends many years ago. A lot of good memories from good times with good friends that I rarely get to see anymore. It's good to see that people are still doing this. I wish you luck with getting this running.
Are you able to find gaskets. I might have a Victor renz number for a full set if you need it. Big project are much smaller when you have good friends helping.
@Jwresto Victor gaskets. Part no fs-1796. It was listed for an auto car truck with a r6 572 continental engine. There is another number on the tag. It's 105-5247
Peter I strongly suggest you either find a job or a hobby as you clearly have too much time on your hands to sit around commenting on videos you apparently don’t like :)

Stick diesel down the ports for a couple of day's, then try turning again. Drain out n see if its loosened
