These videos are the best on TH-cam. Multiple explanations and demonstrations from other perspectives. Got a lot to learn but this stuff is gold. I basically chased bombers in a straight line until they are in range... plenty of time for the gunners to spot me and hit me in the nose and knock out the engine. What’s the best angle for climbing in a spit? Bombers are almost always way above me cause I’m turn fighting at low alt.
Couple of questions: I've been flying 190's for most of my online time- Redwulf squad of old! We would coach pilots to continue the intial roll whilst initiating the lead turn, thus avoiding neg G and maintaining airspeed. Your approach seems to favour a bunt over whilst maintaining lead- why is this? Second question is what software do you use to analyse flights? Your presentations are exceptionally good to follow as they include roll trajectory and firing solutions. Cheers Redwulf_68
Do you mean on the High Side Approach? By bunting over you can perform maneuvers at 0G, and getting to 0G is known as "unloading" By unloading you will accelerate faster and have a higher rollrate, so if you can take advantage of unloading then you should. The 3D presentations are created in Tacview. www.tacview.net/product/about/en/
Thanks, this is a useful video for me, as when attacking bombers I often end up getting suckered into approaching from their dead six, and then killed by the gunners. I suppose this kind of tactic requires some discipline and practice.
It does, but most of the time you can get in position easy enough because more than likely the bomber isn't going to outrun you so you can set yourself up to make a good pass.
Good video- Best approach is to yo yo-yo . dive under bomber in its blind spot which is 200 feet behind and under him then shoot up and have all that surface area to aim at. bomber can not shoot you because they are not able to shoot under the plane . aim for tail as it is the weakest point .
Have a look in my "learn to fly" playlist section. In Bodenplatte there is a video about the Spitfire Mk.IX. There are also other videos (dogfight debriefs and livestreams) of me flying it in combat
What flight stick and pedals do you use Requiem? I'm sure it takes a lot of practice but I don't think I'll ever get as smooth as you fly in these videos with my low-end gear.
@@saschakruger3576 Now that I do not know. I'm not sure if just the kinetic energy of the bomb would damage it. However, I know that you can destroy a car with a bomb directly hitting it followed the bomb exploding so I think it would be possible
Best approach you can make as a fighter against a bomber. 1 bullet to kill the pilot and take the plane down, and even if it has a nose gunner or nose mounted mg or cannon, it's the fastest closure so least amount of time exposed to bullets
If you go head-on with a bomber, don't pull straight up right after you pass. It gives the top gunner one of the easiest shots he can make. If you end up in a position to be exposed to enemy gunfire, Dive away sharply or try to keep your plane's profile as small as possible to present the smallest target possible. Also, NEVER show the gunners your belly when you are in their gun range. You're better off being shot at by tracers you can see and try to dodge than those you can't.
Hey! Don't know if you see comments on videos this old, but I am hoping you do. I just started using Tacview Advanced, and am having trouble getting the terrain displayed in Tacview like you have in your videos. It's just basically a flat map. HELP!
Yeah I always respond to comments when I can. You'll either need to update your Tacview or go to the options (looks like a spanner) and change your terrain option / terrain display option.
@@RequiemsACTL Okay. I have the latest version of Tacview. I just acquired it 2 or 3 days ago. I have the terrain set to IL2. It defaulted to that. I saw some other videos that talked about downloading higher resolution map data or something, but I wasn't sure if that was necessary. Trying to avoid reinventing the wheel and get the scoop from people who are more knowledgeable than I. I really appreciate your videos, they are largely what got me to invest and dedicate some time to IL-2. Thanks for the input.
Please please please do something to make your speech just a little bit more clear (ex. 6:02)! Sometimes it is very difficult to understand - and I really want to!
I didn't find it too much of a problem, but I think in this part the voice volume wasn't adjusted to be the same as the rest of the video. Maybe need to have a look at a volume meter while editing to check the voice is always about the same.
This is not War Thunder, but IL-2: Great Battles. There's no arcade/realistic battle (RB)/simulation difference. You can apply the tactics here, but WT RB is so unrealistic* that they might work. *=3rd person camera and mouse aim alone makes the game a lot different from simulators and thus invalidates many tactics.
Your animated diagrams are priceless to new pilots! Knowing the blind areas of a specific bomber is also key….
Yes that is very true! I just wanted to provide a generic attack profile to use
VERY well presented.
Great graphics.
No meandering.
No hesitation.
Well prepared.
Cheers Paul, I hope you'll like the next one just as much :-)

Wow, this is a pure gold!!! Much thanks for making those videos!
Thanks Radoslaw, hopefully you'll like it when the next one comes out :-)
Thank you! Will try this out! Great to know both sides of the story.
Let me know you go Malloy, always interested in hearing how people fare when trying out the techniques I show here!
@@RequiemsACTL will do
My 6th sense was tingling and had a feeling I needed to check actl for an update. I was not disappoint this is just what I was looking for
Notifications will help remove your need for a spidey sense, but I think TH-cam notifications are hit more miss sometimes...
The bell was on personalized, this video should have been something the algorithm recognized as good for me
hey can you make a video on how to use the il2 mission planner
I’d love to use these techniques on 4-engine bomber formations in IL-2. Hopefully in the near future!
I'm with you right there...4 engine bombers are a big missing link in Il-2!

Just you wait...one day you will love the whiteboard.
Informative video, as always!
Where can i find videos of controlling the plane? I just turn and go into spins like right away.

Thrustmaster Warthog and MFG Crosswind pedals
Is it possible to drop a bomb on another plane midair? Not as an actual tactic though.
Yeah you can. If the bomb is armed and it hits it will destroy the plane.
Interesting. Just for the fun of it Requiem, can you try it out in a video?

It is, head on approaches will be in the next video.

Great ! Thnx a lot and good hunting !
Is there a way in unmodded, single player quick missions to rearm and refuel?
I don't know Kenny, I've only seen people use it in Multiplayer so far.
Where would I find this map in the game?
This is on the Kuban map

Sorry Kibar, I always try to ensure the voiceover is even as I select every bit and set it to the same volume. I guess that one spot didn't take it.
Thanns!
Teeeeention, Class dismissed! To your planes men!
Im playing another game called gunship sequel ww2 a mobile game. I have p39 with 37mm cannon. I only fire 2 times and the bomber is down lol
Oh yeah that 37mm is BRUTAL...I love that thing when it hits. The real loopy trajectory can make it difficult if you're not accustomed to it
Great video, however, every time I try this techniques the side gunners somehow manage to hit my engine.
Hi mate could u mate defensive & offensive manoeuvres in rb pls regards: Wayne

low pass seems best
since we DONT come close to the bomber.
Flying pass the bomber is really dangerous and expose ourselves
I personally like head on approaches (which are in the next video). High speed of closure, small firing window, but smaller chance of getting hit.
