Great video! thanks; only question is how you deal with maneuvering bombers; in my experience, as soon as you get close, the bombers will start to do all kind of maneuvering, specially 1 engine bombers, which would also get close to the ground
If they start maneuvering you can expect to just take a snapshot, likely by making a high pass at an angle. You have the big advantage as the fighter, so avoid squandering it by sitting on their tail opening yourself up to get shot at.
Very nice! I guess you already found Fighter Tactics Against The B-29 (1948) from Airboyd. It´s not exactly the same, but very interesting as well. I think this type of instruction has a great value for combat simulations air to air, since you can get to fly realistic missions even with a limited time budget.

Watched a video with Yak-1b’s attacking a group of Ju-88s. The bombers were on the deck for whatever reason (human pilots), and the fighters were attacking high from the rear. The result was a surprising number of bomber pilot kills on the first pass. My conclusion is that Ju-88 pilots are much more vulnerable from the high rear than He-111 pilots, particularly from rifle-caliber MGs. So this might be a factor in choosing your attack. Initially I was thinking disposition of defensive armament might be an issue between various types of bombers, but your tactics take that into consideration. Tail gunners on many American bombers, and British heavies if they get into the game, might be a factor. The Ju-88s in the video were in line astern, not the most astute choice for mutual support, and were predictably massacred.
Normally I provided these missions but patches kept breaking them. I'm not sure if I have this mission still...I'd need to check when I get home tomorrow.
How do you create those tactical 3D replays? Is that an in-game tool, or something 3rd party using telemetry data? Or just hand-made to match the IL2 flight as closely as possible?
The AI level doesn't matter in the video as I needed to set the waypoints for the AI to fly to "High" which affects their shooting. I needed them to fly straight and level instead of acting like a fighter as I came in to demonstrate the attack flightpath.

Its a program called Tacview. It uses Il-2 telemetry to recreate the situation in the program
The 20mm forward cannon of the 111 is looking forward to head on approaches.
If the person flying it is using the bomb sight, there won't be anybody on the gun.
Tried this attack of yours today.... and shot the bomb off a Ju-88. Holy shit, this I like!

I think the AI in this game for bombers is broken. Just look at how the A20 AI maneuvers
