- CaptainShack is on the bridge in the upcoming indie title - Into The Stars - A Open universe FTL like game that has you playing the captain of Ark 13 the last human ship. This game is damn hard, but lots of fun. With each play through teaching you more about the game, and how to lead your crew out into the stars.

This game has amazing potential, thx. for showcasing it. Some things that would be good (in my opinion): 1.) Upgrades you can do during voyage like - engines, weapons, scanning equipment; 2.) Research new technologies along the way - like Aeroponics/Hidroponics bay (that would grow food and give you Oxigen), etc. 3.) Walking around certain areas of the ship like in the Mass Effect game & 3a.) Showing the landing crew (nothing too fancy - maybe Freelancer style) and interaction with environment they land on, would make it a much more immersive game.
Great video captain! Game looks great and awesome commentating on the fights, one last hurrah at the end!

Shack you need to play more of this. This was so entertaining to watch.
Another thing:
If you could see your crew at their stations, and have them call out hits and misses. It would really add to the feel of the game.

Shack, I would love to see more of this, even if it's just an early build, it's just such a beautiful concept...
(First before reading I'm not an English speaker so I will have grammar mistakes)
This game looks awesome but there is something that I would like they could implement which is:
-A little measurer of oxigen in oxygen resurce and when you population consume the oxygen it turn to carbon dioxide (of course in a ratio that is not op, I dont know maybe a 10:1 ratio 10 oxygen 1 carbon dioxide.(Or the other way 1:1 ratio of oxygen to carbon dioxide but you need 10 to generate 1 oxigen)
To counter when the alien attack you with missiles they can breach temporally your hull and lose oxigen or resources if they hit the cargo bay (with some % to do that)
- Secondly when you lose population (that is biomass) so like a 100:1 ratio a hundred people died well we have more biomass to use, maybe some estructure o decision to do that like allowing cannibalism of dead bodies or and event of that.
-Thirdly I know is and early access and they will add more, it would be nice dicovering destroyed human ships that tried to scape or even escape capsules with people or resources. And more events (I'm sure they'll add more in the future)
And of course what you said more ship desings.

okay. first. awesome content here shack id love to see a full play-through from you.
second. id love to see some choice on my ship and story. plays on pop culture and game ships that exist (ex. mass effect, star trek) plus some totally unique designs with some stater equipment specific to that style vessel.(ex. phasers or photons for a star trek inspired vessel) i can see shack going nuts in a galaxy class haha. on a serious note, any kind of variation on the look of the ship you fly would be amazing.

wow, this game has lots of potential!
i think good improvements would be:
- more kind of weapons than just two.
- more "active" combat meaning something different than just a color game of red, blue or brown. Something where you have to move your ship to evade and the enemy ships can move too.
- a tutorial for navigation. combat, and mining.
- a button for "take all" for ressource rather than having to click ever one time for ever ressource unit.

Wow! Really enjoyed watching you play. Your reactions make it very entertaining. Hopefully you can get some red gems early on in your next run so you can fly with some lowered bleed rates. Also try and take out the shield module of the enemies first. It can easily make an engagement turn into a 4-5 shot volley exchange. Looking forward to the next run!.

Incredible. Although I will say seeing all these lazer weapons 'missing' while both ships appear stationary is kinda funky.
I'd like to see a bridge perspective game like this with a bigger exploration emphasis. Procedural generation (preferably not ENTIRELY) lends itself well to the idea of exploring space.

Seriously, I hope they alter that. This game has incredible potential, but with gameplay mechanics as dumb as these... too immersion breaking for me to ever enjoy it.

Would love to see the crew feel the effects of each torpedo/energy blast! Its not a space fight until your life support officer goes flying across the bridge. :D
There are a few things that I can see that would make the game more believable and fair. 1. You should be able to replace your crew with civilians. Obviously the civilians wouldn't be as good when you recruit them, but can gain experience. 2. When you run out of fuel, you should be able to coast, but not accelerate. 3. All enemy ships should drop a random, but non-zero amount of resources.
looks amazing, I think that when you become low on O2 or food an event should trigger where you can eject portions of your population for slower consumption, at the cost of population loss + unrest

TheXPGamers Man, this game is super tense. Even at the end when you were blowing up aliens left and right, I was watching that hull go down and just cringing at the constant civilian losses notice.
I'd like to see Alien races like in FTL, where you'd find an alien or rescue them from a slaver ship, and they'd join your crew.
I really have to recommend a game called Shores of Hazeron, though it's hard to describe in one comment the basis is you build your own empire and colonise a massive universe with 20 galaxies, since it's multiplayer there are other empires out there to compete with, it's the hugest game I've seen and it's all developed by one man.
note your ship say ARK-13 on the side which means you are likely the 13th ship sent out or that your ship is the first to be sucsefuly work at all
This looks awsome, maybe a academy training to to train and slot a replacement if you lose someone.
Research for weapon cooldowns, slower food useage, birth boost etc.

they should consider having electrical impulse engines just to have a little movement when the fuel hits zero because there is some nasty tedium when stranded. Also, the lack of communication systems is mindblowing

It looks like you might be able target weapons and shields instead of just the enemy hull. Might make reducing damage from multiple ships possible if you were to focus down their weapons first before going back to finish them off. Also, it might increase the loot if you were to completely disable an enemy ship as oppose to blowing it up. Just a thought.

something i would love to see is more races be hostile to you. for example if you go to a sector of space and there is another race that were attacked by the Skorn and survived, ( for now ) and they think that you are a spy or a disguised drone meant to win there trust so they attack you. and the bridge damage would add wonderful flavor and emersion to the game. also like random star gates or portals or something in the universe that will take you to the other end of the star gate or portal in a random part of the universe. or adding other races to the crew. just some of the things that i would like to see in this already great game.

This looks like it could benefit a lot from multiplayer bridge coordination like Artemis bridge simulator. Imagine, coordinating the information for the shield colors and enemy weapons color to your weapons officer as well as engineer.
I forsee a Star Trek Voyager mod for this with the Kazon replacign the aliens.

Hopefully the final product will have a "Take All" option for those resource management screens. Holding and waiting for it is ridiculous.
I find it funny that he can still spin his ship around without fuel.... when firing the RCS thrusters should probably end up being the most expensive thing (at least in a Newtonian physics universe which this game is not)

Did anyone else notice when he is picking his crew at the beginning, there is a crew member in the list named "Stan Lee" ?
I think it would be cool if you could find the other ARKs(that still function) or some other ship and have them join you so you could form a fleet(3 ships max like the enemy fleets)
would be nice if when you run out of fuel you don't lose speed until you reach something like a planet. also it would be nice to be able to customise/upgrade the systems as you go like FTL i.e. new weapons *not* just stat increases and resource changes.
game looks beautiful and fun though look forward to launch (as long as not too pricy atm)

Can we get this on a dead space type theme, where you have to worry about stuff outside and in? Like aliens in and zombieish thing where you can defend the bridge or lock down sectors

I love FTL.. and this game is like FTL on crack!! w00t!! please please please have more of this!!!! things to add.... ummm... more options for the ships like diff weaps, engines etc.. civilian training so when u lose creww you have a chance to upgrade a civilian to a crew member... mebbe another option for planets.. like specifically a trade ship sent down to trade for resources... but yes, PLEASE have more of this!!
you should be able to play as ark 1, it would remove finding the other ark crashes but you would be slightly better prepared.

Can you upgrade if not change the look of yoru ship? or you stuck with that look.
what I would really want is an animation where the bridge slowly breaks up as all hope is lost when you die. that death animation was a bit... meh.

My only major problem with this game is the bullshit star trek physics from people who've never heard of Isaac Newton. That and the fact that space combat doesn't take place at point blank range.
And ships should drift forward after there is no fuel left, becus come on he didnt have fuel to stop going forward, well did he?

add a distress signal that has a chance to bring in help but also a chance to bring even more enemies down on you. Also give a greater chance for more valuable resources to be given to you as you destroy more of the enemies vessels, have it scale on the difficulty of the enemies that you are fighting i.e. two standard raiders won't give you much in the way of valued resources but destroying 3 torpedo ships would give you a chance of getting something worthwhile. As far as the map is concerned give vague hints as to what each sector may hold, nothing specific just something like planet number low asteroid fields number high there exists the possibility of finding a trade vessel or even a derelict vessel but don't give any specific percentage on the that possibility and also no mention of whether you are going to find enemies in that sector best leave the player with the assumption that you will always find hostels wherever you go. Lastly I think that there should be a role of the dice situation where you can on a one time basis give half your resources to a mercenary group that will give you a certain allotment of time where you are garneted that no enemies will find you so you can use that time for exploring, mining and or repairs but you can only use it once in the game and the time is something like fifteen minutes, so if you us it because you are sustaining to much damage and the system you are in has no planets you can still have some time to locate a planet and try and get back a little of what you lost to the mercenaries. Other than that some visual effect changes like you stated i.e. bridge fires or debris fields might be a little bit more immersive.
This game looks epic, do you know the price it'll be hopefully around 20$. Before I watched the video i thought it's similar to Pulsar: lost colony

This game is in need of some serious balancing. This looks like HARDCORE mode on just regular play.
you should really give beyond sol a let's look at. it's a very solid 4X title.
looks promising, but the UI and those 3d models need a lot of improvements
