    My wife and I have moved to the Cardo Edge from Sena . The Cardo is much easier to connect to each other and the wind suppression really works 😂. I can ride with the visor open and she dose not hear the wind noise which I could not do with the Sena .The voice commands are just fantastic. Overall a wonderful system

      Spring is just arriving in Canada, and after 6 years with the Sena 10S we just bought and installed the Pactalk Edge. I can’t wait to try it together, I was seriously impressed after the install and trying it on and playing the music in my house. Stoked to get on the road and try it.

    Used sena for years with no issues. It was an older model that still works but I switched to Cardo recently. I went with their base model HD and it’s good. Sometimes it has issues between my iPhone and the gps but ultimately I’ll probably stay with Cardo. I’ll upgrade it eventually

    Thanks interesting video. I am in the process of buying a Sena Spider ST1 as it's cheap and my son in law uses one when he's riding.So what intrigues me is that no one as ever come up with a fix for waterproofing them.Surely there must be a sealant you can use to do that or perhaps you can use a cut a piece of bicycle innertube to wrap it in. There must be a way surely !

    Unless you have the newer Pack Talk Edge, Cardo does not connect to any other bluetooth even using universal pairing. Not even the older Sena's with true universal pairing. I have had zero failures with any of my Sena's which I own 5. That is not the case with my Cardo's. The charging port got ripped out of one of my two Packtalk Bolds and two of my riding buddies four. The new PT Edge uses the USB C. We purchased two Packtalk Edge Duo's for my GF and me for a trip less than a month ago and one unit was dead out of the box. Got that one replaced and went on the trip where one of the other units stared to malfunction. It was like the microphone was bad but everything worked perfect when I put one of the other units in the mount. Then the replacement unit failed to turn on a day later. Thankfully I had bought the warranty and I was able to replace the bad units and everything associated with them for new ones. Bad batch maybe? Time will tell.
    The PT Edge did connect to the Sena's that the other PT's never could before using the new universal pairing. The Sena's still have a much more robust connection to your phone than Cardo's do. I can leave the phone on the bike and go into the restroom at he back of the store and still be connected to the phone with the Sena's but the Cardo's seem to disconnect before you even make it inside. We usually travel longer distances than you can travel in 13 hours so we have to use two units each. Hence the two Duo's. One of my riding buddies has mastered swapping his PT Bold while underway but the rest of us haven't and swap out units at the next stop. The magnetic connection of the edge makes this easy. I might even practice doing this underway in the future.
    The Sena units allow you to put them in standby by tapping the jog wheel. Standby greatly extends battery life. Enough that they usually last the entire 18-20 hours of the ride. We do have a second unit if need be. If you need to talk again you simply tap the jog wheel again. We usually put them in standby when we are between towns and have nothing to say and are enjoying the sights. A few years ago I rode 26K miles through all the lower 48 states in just under 3 months in all kinds of weather with the Sena's. This included a week long severe thunderstorm across the Gulf Coast and a Gale driving back from Key West to the mainland at night. Not fun but I had to be in Connecticut in two days.
    I also have a much cheaper off brand (Lexin B4FHM) for when I ride with my daughter that has never given either one of us any problems and her bike is her only transportation so she rides it everyday to work and back as a minimum. My oldest Sena will connect to these using it's universal pairing but nothing newer until I got the PT Edge.
    You can see I really don't have a preference. I just grab the helmet that has a compatible unit to whomever I'm riding with that day. If they don't have a unit, I will mount one of my spare units on their helmet.

    If I would upgrade, it would be the Edge. The sound is louder/clearer, waterproof and I love the magnetic mount. Cardo is smart with that patent alone. The unit looks sleeker too. What is really dumb is the lack of joint venture between the 2 companies on the MESH connection. Stupid move!!!

    Based on using one product from each manufacturer, I reckon Cardo is better value and quality.
    I've got the Cardo Freecom 2x and the Sena C10 Pro. Can't recommend the C10 Pro at all. Good idea, having the camera and comms in one unit. The reality is that trying to do too many things at once means they're not doing any of them particularly well. Connectivity issues with comms, poor battery life with the camera and you're very limited in where you can mount it too.
    The Cardo does everything it says it will do, does it well and I only have to charge it once a week, if that. The hard rubber case of the Cardo feels a lot better than the plastic case on the Sena, too. The Sena feels cheap to me, despite costing me nearly double what the Cardo did.

    The new Sena Quantum mesh systems use Harman Kardon speakers and newly designed microphones, supposedly a huge improvement over the previous versions. Harman is the parent company of JBL Audio. Going to give Sena one more shot before giving up on them. The music audio quality of my Shoei specific SRL2 was very disappointing.

    • @ne-adv
      @ne-adv ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Sena updates fixed the SRL2 issues. If you go with a new Sena, there is now a Sena SRL-2 Mesh which is a Sena 50x in a Shoei helmet. But look at what those you ride with have. If they are Cardo, go Cardo. You can always get a Sena Mesh Port Blue to also talk, at the same time, with Sena units on Open Mesh 2.0

    • @eyesonly4451
      @eyesonly4451 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can plus-1 what @on-adv said. Sena upgraded their SRL-2 to the SRL-2 Mesh several months back. I originally had the SRL-2 in a Neotech-II helmet but swapped it out for the SRL-2 Mesh. The new SRL-2 has the JBL sound system and speakers. The difference has been night & day.

      @@eyesonly4451 I've been using the SRL Mesh all summer in my Neotec 2 and I can also report that it is a huge improvement in sound quality over the previous SRL2 when listening to music. I have it paired to my 2023 Africa Twin.

      @@ne-adv I did every update Sena had on their site for the SRL2 and nothing improved. I removed it back in April of 2023 when I posted the comment and replaced it with the SRL Mesh and couldn't be happier. I certainly hope the issues with the SRL2 have been addressed with any updated software since April so I won't feel as bad trying to sell it to someone and recoup some of the almost $500 I spent on it to be so disappointed.

      I think its because its a best signal gets recv'd system. For P2P, two riders, it IS hands down the best for range, but if one dead-mic's, no one else gets to talk unless they can drown them out. The comms that are prevalent allow party line type calls, where one can hear all. More like being in same room and all talking at once or some at once or taking turns, with the same results.

    • @notsure7874
      @notsure7874 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      GMRS does have better range, but it's analog only, and kind of bulky relatively. Also requires a license. FRS (basically the license free version of GMRS) could work, but it's still just an analog radio. You get no privacy whatsoever, and no features like music, gps talking to you, ability to talk to just one other rider instead of everybody, yada yada.
      Being a digital network, you can also only allow your group on your network, and you can ride within range of another group that has their own network without interfering with each other.
      My BIGGEST question, is why they don't have a Cardo unit that'd work for a chase vehicle. Being surrounded by metal and glass, that signal is going to be severely diminished vs in the open on the outside of a helmet. I'd love to see a unit with something like an outside bluetooth unit with antenna that could bluetooth to an android auto / apple carplay enabled app.

    He doesn't know anything about sena I've riding in the rain for for years. No problems you can have intercom with multiple people, you can pair with Cardo also which he said you can't I don't know where he is getting his information but it's false. As far as speakers 🔊 JBL is nice but I prefer HARMON KARDON my self since both my BMW and my Range Rover uses them on top im a producer engineer and we use thier studio monitors also. Both companies have their own priority functions but both are compatible with each other . Example with Cardo you have to connect with phone mode to any other com system but it's own company. Sena does the same but using Bluetooth instead of phone mode so on sena outside of connecting to cardos you can still keep your phone functions
