I was at MI from 1988 to 89 and I know what you mean when Alexis would be warming up before class started. I remember him doing slap lines and techniques that are definitely not on his instructional tape. I studied his instructional tape and even transcribed some of the exercises when he continued to improvise. It would be very cool if he came out with another instructional tape just on finger grooving. I remember him having the Rocco Prestia grooves down, plus he used to use his thumb, index in middle fingers to do these really killer grooves.
Alexis is the GOAT! I was so fortunate to have him as an instructor.
