    The Evil Offering is a 140mm travel 29” trail and enduro mountain bike, and after spending four months riding this bike in three states, I’ve finally posted my ride review. The bike is good, and provides a great compliment to the other bikes in my quiver (SB130, Ripmo) as well as to what I’ve ridden over the past year.
    Evil Offering frames are IN STOCK now at Jenson USA- and anything you purchase from Jenson will directly help support me in making these videos!!! bit.ly/EvilOffering2022jkw

      I think you're actually a great reviewer because you clearly state your preferences and biases and let the viewer understand your perspective. I'm tired of reading/watching reviewers that claim every bike is "poppy and playful, but still grounded and planted, while climbing surprisingly well before descending really confidently."

  • @Wabit01
    @Wabit01 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I disagree - you are an excellent bike reviewer. I don’t buy new bikes often but this year it was time for something new, so I did a ton of reading reviews and found it striking how different sources would use the same language for describing certain bike models. Evil bike reviews particularly suffer from this, to a point where I began to wonder if some reviewers had even tested the bike and I would say this is perhaps the most honest review of the Evil Offering I've come across. What I enjoy about your review style is your ability to cut through the marketing babble and deliver some honest thoughts. Even as far as showing a crash, which some might think would put the bike in a bad light - but of course it doesn’t because as you say ‘rider input matters more than bike design’. Thanks so much mate, its always a beauty watching you ride.

    Jeff you're not a terrible bike reviewer... Everyone who reviews bikes are just giving their opinion. There are way too many factors like you said. All reviews need to be taken with a grain of salt. It seems to me people just want someone to confirm their preconceived notions of a bike.

    Hey, that's my bike! (and it isn't green or black. Its charcoal gray 😉) Great review! I went the opposite way with the rebound. This is my 3rd Evil and I've always run the rear pretty fast. With the V2, my rear tire was skipping a lot, bouncing in rocky corners (AZ) and easily getting knocked off line. Speeding up the rebound seemed to make it worse, so I settled on 2 clicks from slow. Seems to have solved my problem without affecting the playfulness. I'm running the Super Deluxe with the MegNeg can, so it isn't apples to apples, and I've recently lost weight, so that might play a factor in why my adjustments needed to change 🤷‍♂️

    I briefly had an HD4, Offering and Following MB at the same time. I only own one of those bikes now and it's the Offering. I concur with Jeff, the rear suspension has a unique magic carpet feel to it. The front end keeps it playful. I also run a 160 fork. Not sure it was mentioned in the vid whether the flip chip was in the low or x-low mode? Super easy to flip it, takes 5 minutes. Low for trail, x-low for steep/gnarly.

    If you could only have one Mid travel bike 130-150, what bike would you choose. Yeti, Evil, Ibis, Etc. Knowing that is subject to riding style and personal preference.

    Jeff, 2 questions.
    1). What other Evil bikes have you ridden?
    2). How would you rate the Offering for just "Fun" compared to all of the bikes you tested?

      Thanks Dan! I retired from racing in 2016, gotta keep that promise to myself! My sprint speed is likely faster than it was while racing, but overall I'm slower since I've bulked up for making videos. 1-2 times a week we'll film, and each filming session needs to get around 50 shots- that's 50 intervals! Gotta do a lot of gym time to stay ready for that. Racing at a high level requires more regular riding and a more lean physique. And it requires taking risks that others aren't willing to- and I'd rather not do that anymore.

    I have a dpx2 in my wreckoning LB and it is very lively if you want it to be, and composed when it needs to be. That being said, I'm no where near the caliber of rider so my definition of poppy and lively are likely much different.

      Thanks man! I dunno, with Jenson not being able to sell SC online we haven't tried for any SC bikes. Maybe in Q3 I'll see if I can get a Megatower or Hightower in just to play with though! Now that just about every single bike in the Jenson catalog is sold out, we gotta chase clicks rather than in-stock product.

    Since your instagram followers are comparing and contrasting bikes, I'm wondering if there is such a bike that has the stability of the Ripmo and the poppy/sporty/efficiency of a Ripley? (Non Ibis).

    • @JeffKendallWeed
      @JeffKendallWeed  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ohhhh man Norbert, great question. I don't concern myself much with the efficiency aspect, and I'm generally looking for Ripmo-ish feel but with a tad more travel and more adjustments. Who knows what will come out in the future!!!

    Man your bike reviews are insanely good. No nonsense pros and cons which as you mention could absolutely make or break a bike for one person vs another. That’s all you can ask for short of riding it yourself and 1Mx better than talking in high level review buzz word nonsense. Cheers 🍻

    • @JeffKendallWeed
      @JeffKendallWeed  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Pado! I feel a little odd doing a "review" as I'm not an average buyer, but I've come to realize every single review ever has some sort of inherent bias and flaws, so at the end of the day it's just entertainment. But it's pretty cool that so many folks enjoy these! It sure is fun to make these vids. thanks for watching!
