    I was torn between the Offering, SB130, SB150, and Ripmo. After demo's, I ended up on the Offering with the SB130 being a close 2nd. To me, the Offering really split the difference between the SB130 and SB150 on paper and in how they felt on the trail.

    I really enjoy your videos, keep up the good work! I’ve been on my Offering for the whole season now and love it. I didn’t mind giving up a little of the climbing efficiency of my Ripley LS for the seating position of the Offering. I’m nearly 6’ and find my medium to be a good size, in case anyone is wondering.

I bought a couple of Konas from them last year - Hei Hei CR/DL 29 & Big Honzo 27.5 Love them both! Not sure if you’ve done any Kona reviews. Chump MTB I had a 2016? Bronson which I liked a lot but wanted to get back to a 29’er so I got an Ibis Ripley LS. Great bike but I missed the extra travel and got the Offering. It really is the best of both worlds for me. Amazing bike, definitely demo one. I’m almost always a large frame but the medium Offering felt better for me.

    I've gone to one of these from a large orignal hightower. I went for a large offering as I wanted something more planted. It's a great bike and I know that, but the jump in reach from the hightower is taking a while to get used to. I need to change my riding position quite a bit. I've ridden bikes since the 90's and ride off the back - still. I'm 6ft and could have gone medium offering, but that would have just been too close to the HT geowise. DELTA link is stunning.

    • @mtbyumyum
      @mtbyumyum  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dude, Mike, the DELTA link is unreal... there's nothing like it I dont think... Yeah, the Offering was a total ripper and really felt comfortable loading up the front of the bike in the turns.... lots of traction and confidence on this bike!

  • @travelthenarrowtrail8660
    @travelthenarrowtrail8660 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Good review Jason! I'll tune in the live chat to see your thoughts on this vs the Hightower.
    I don't know what it is, but been on the New Hightower on three different occasions and even one for a 39 mile ride, it just feels sort of blah. It climbs great, suspension eats everything up no problem, but the bike doesn't feel lively and juiced and agile. I thought the Tallboy was more agile for sure but honestly, I need to get on the Rimpo and Ripley next.
    I saw the Ripley at the shop the other day in black, man that is a gorgeous looking frame. For me it might be the ripmo just because I can only get one and need something to handle Utah, CO, NM chunky rocky mtn's and the ability to climb but I want a livelier feeling bike. I hope to experience that with the Ripmo or Ripley.
    Everyone is hype on the Revel Rascal, need to try that one too. The Tallboy blew me away though on how deep that 120mm suspension felt, it feels more like 130mm of travel and it didn't seem to blow through the travel the way the old VPP bikes did.

    • @mtbyumyum
      @mtbyumyum  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, you're spot on.... the dw on the Ibis bikes has a lot more life to it. I think you'll find the Rimpo has a lot more pop to it than the Hightower. I rode the hightower, offering and ripmo all back to back on the same day and same trails and the offering lefty me smiling the most although it was maybe a little more taxing to climb on... If I were you, and you think your riding style could get away with it, go for the Ripley at 140mm fork....

    • @garybusy6102
      @garybusy6102 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mtbyumyum I'm highly considering that. I will get on one soon, just not sure 120mm will cut it on descents. I really felt the Tallboy had such good rear suspension over rocky descents, roots, and chattery stuff. Your video seems to indicate the TB has better rear but the Ripley climbs better. I did feel the pedal bob on the Tallboy. I guess its a trade off, do I want a great climber or a better descender? Or great climber that is more agile, ahhh, with a 140 Pike? Hmmm.

      @k.fritzlehr4552 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I purchased an MET Parachute which I wear on cool days, 70 F and below and I like it, but it is not without its drawbacks. They are a not so good above 70 because when you stop your head starts to bake and I don’t like it at low speeds, like climbing, because when you breath out and the air kind of blows back in your face. You can mitigate this by lowering your head and allowing air to flow between your mouth and chin guard, but then your neck may begin to ache a bit with your head in this position . The Troy Lee might have less of an issue with blow back than the MET because it ‘s mouth piece is a bit more open. Just wondering what your experience has been with these newer lightweight full face helmets. When I watched your video in the cool weather I was surprised you were not wearing one and wondered if it was because you didn’t like it or simply have not tried. When it is warm I wear a Troy Lee A1, which I love. When it is colder I switch to the full face helmet for added warmth and protection.

    I really enjoyed my rides on The Offering when trying to decide, but ultimately went with Hightower as the cockpit felt more comfortable (I didn't have ability to adjust much) and I felt the climbing was better on the HT...hence admittedly gave up some of the poppy fun on the descents to get better overall performance from the HT. That said...the fact that every video encompasses some kind of "just by the Ripley", I'm getting closer and closer to becoming a two bike guy...

      @scottb5268 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mtbyumyum I've only done a parking lot test on the Ripmo so I couldn't speak to that but I highly recommend it for folks that ride anywhere with more than just flow trails.
      The Ripley felt so capable but the front end and actually the rear would start to feel overwhelmed when going through long sections of rocks or roots. The 36 Grip2 at 140 seemed to make the bike come alive! I ended up finding a DPX2 shock in the right size and put the largest volume spacer in it as well.
      Most would say why not buy a Ripmo but the little bit of extra weight was offset by me getting a lighter stem, bar and wheelset. It's still a short travel rocket! It didn't take away from it's climbing ability either, if anything I would say it's better because of the added grip from the well sorted suspension.

I'm coming from a 27.5 140/160 bike that was playful and easy to pop around, but a terrible climber(73* STA).
