    Another great informative video. I've been here for 3 weeks now and I love it! But the reason I'm commenting is because people need to know how awesome and helpful you are. I didn't have a job, and I wasn't looking to buy, so I had nothing to offer to Marcie, but she followed up with me to see how my move went. That generosity is scarce where I'm from.

    Middleton Schools are at 105% capacity, and the roads are gridlocked, I don't recommend moving here it's grown way to fast. The last Mayor Steve Rule signed off on every development project that came across his desk.

      Thank you for the comment, you are/were absolutely not alone with your take!! Middleton wasn’t ready for the growth it’s seen - and neither was ANY other city across the Treasure Valley. It’s been (and is) a constant/ongoing game of catch-up!😵‍💫

    How frequent are the firewthdt bring in smoke in the summer from around Idaho, Alberta or Montana?

    • @Livinginboiseidaho-candid
      @Livinginboiseidaho-candid  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the question, Boise can (and does) experience air pollution from wildfires from neighboring areas like Montana and Canada. If and when that occurs, it’s usually during the late summer months (which is, of course, when wildfire risk is at its highest). The frequency we experience this issue really varies depending on the severity and proximity of wildfires and prevailing wind patterns. This past summer, we (thankfully) didn’t experience any problems. Two summers ago though, there were a couple weeks in summer, as well as one or two in the fall, that there was an air quality advisory out for sensitive individuals. Thankfully, there are many readily available systems that make it pretty easy to keep tabs on our air quality (as you likely know, sometimes air quality issues aren’t immediately apparent until you’ve been out on a walk for say half an hour, so it’s nice (and essential for high-risk management individuals) to be able to know that info beforehand). Thanks for the question!

    With all due respect, this simply shows the Boise bias when it comes to Idaho. Three Boise area cities, no mention of eastern Idaho.

    • @Livinginboiseidaho-candid
      @Livinginboiseidaho-candid  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The cities mentioned in this video were based on recent data showing where the majority of people who are moving into the state of Idaho are choosing to live. Which, as you noticed, includes several cities near Idaho’s capital & largest city, Boise. I have absolutely nothing against Eastern Idaho - it’s beautiful & packed with hidden gems - but the majority of it is definitely not exactly “booming” (which, if you live in Eastern Idaho and/or know anyone who does, you know that’s how many current residents would prefer to keep it). That all said, I understand your point about there being a “Boise bias” when it comes to Idaho. I grew up in Eastern Oregon and everyone (who didn’t live in the PNW anyhow) always just assumed that since I lived in Oregon I must have lived in/near Portland…. But well, on the flipside of that eastern Oregon is still very much a hidden gem, while Portland is pretty much a disaster at this point… That all said, if you are curious about any eastern Idaho towns or areas, let me know and I’d be happy to feature them in future videos.

      @@Livinginboiseidaho-candid much truth to what you say. And yes, eastern Idaho would very much prefer to keep the Jimmy Kimmel’s out. (Which we failed at) And admittedly this data is a year old, but at that time Idaho falls on a percentage basis was the fastest growing city, still the most affordable housing when compared to median income, and had the fastest growing job growth. And those who speak with our legislators commonly hear, they tax us in East Idaho so they can build another road in Meridian.

    • @Livinginboiseidaho-candid
      @Livinginboiseidaho-candid  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We know several people who love living in Idaho Falls (and/or grew up there). It’s a charming spot for sure. Curious what job industries & opportunities are the strongest there? I have heard that it has received praise for its job market & strong wages but I’m clueless as to what the main employment options are there? And then I completely understand the frustration about being taxed there for projects that are happening here in the Boise metro area. It definitely reminds me of how most eastern Oregon residents feel about paying for projects happening all over Portland and Salem! Tough one for sure!

      @@Livinginboiseidaho-candid job growth here is very diverse. Tourism is always hot with Yellowstone being close. The Idaho National lab continues to offer more positions. Health care is strong, construction is strong. I work with small business owners and there are many who contract with employers across the country, especially California, and live here. Professional and financial services have been among the strongest growers.
      Idaho falls often gets lumped in with Pocatello when one hears of eastern Idaho. They are very different communities, different economies.

    You forgot to mention why Idaho is growing. The American Redoubt where right wing conservative christians are moving to Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. That's why Boise is shrinking because that's where a lot of the state's normal people, moderates and democrats, live and they are getting TF out of the state. My family and I are following suit next year.
