    I love how all of you TH-cam knife reviewers send each other stuff to help each other make content. I think it’s really cool that most of the popular channels like to help each other out instead of “win the competition” that doesn’t really exist. I watch tons of different knife channels, so being in competition with each other is pointless anyways. I think it’s great that you all realize that and try to do what you can to help each other out

    I got the Native Chief because I saw a good deal and never had a larger Spyderco before. I really like it a lot more than I thought I would! Put a deep carry clip on it and its stayed in my pocket for a good two weeks straight now. In addition to my normal cutting tasks I've been massacreing vegetables every few days, and it's been a pleasure to slice with.
    Not really looking forward to trying to sharpen this thing with my lansky, but I've been just giving it a quick strop every couple of days and its held up really well so far. I was super worried about the tip after having a couple PM2 tips snap but it's still doing great.
    Good review and comparison!

    It logical to believe that Spyderco has access to a wormhole and is throwing some of the models in to see how they skew, stretch or shrink through space time, passing by a blackhole just to see what thier next model should look like when it comes out on the otherside.
    I mean, they even state what planet these knives are made on, just in case.

      My s90v Millie tip is nearly twice as thick as any of my pm2s. I only have the one Millie, but a ton of pm2s, and it's way thicker than all of them.

    • @martinmiller1087
      @martinmiller1087 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Military hits the sweet spot for me. My original is in ATS-34 and has quite a few subtle differences from later, improved versions. Then I bought two in S40V - fully serrated and plain edge. #4 is a black S30V blade with digital camo for mall ninja mode. My last one is in S110V with a deep blue G-10. ... I flirt with lots of newer cutlery with different steels, locks, and covers for EDC, but always keep coming back to a Military. ... EDIT ... I bought a couple kydex sheaths for my early Militaries from Michael Sastre @ River City Sheaths. They're top quality. However, more recent versions of the Military have nested SS liners, making the knives a bit thicker. I made the mistake of jamming my S30V digi camo Millie into the River City pancake kydex sheath for the closed knife. It took two men and a boy to get it back out of the kydex. They are that much thicker than the early Military versions. ... The other River City kydex is for a locked open Military for reverse grip deployment in James Keating's Draw Point self defense system. My fully serrated S40V Millie eats that kydex up.

    My EDC has evolved towards partially serrated knives with great steel. I discovered that cutting small branches and vines, which sometimes are in my way or need trimming, with anything other than a serrated knife is a royal pain. My partially serrated Cold Steel Recon I with CTS XHP is the champ. Runner up is an Endura 4 with a little bit wimpy VG-10. I recently needed to cut a large TV box; the Recon rocketed through it in about 60 seconds. And it cuts those small branches effortlessly. The two knives in this vid are good looking, even tempting. But if they are missing serrations, they are just going to be one more for the stay at home pile.

    The Police 4 is exactly the right comparison. I'm leaning towards the P4 just because of the steel. If the Native Chief came out soon with a more interesting steel, I would be tempted. I think the liner-less design is actually a good one. The Golden factory does a slightly better back-lock as well. My liner-less Native 5 has the tightest back-lock of any knife I've ever handled. All other back locks have a tiny amount of vertical play IME.
